Chapter 17: Subduing the Half-Metal Giant
Chapter 17: Subduing the Half-Metal Giant
About a hundred kilometers east of the Barbarian Tribe was a powerful Monster Tribe—the Half-Metal Giant Tribe.
Half-Metal Giants were extremely unique creatures. They fed on ores and possessed the strength of Extraordinary Warriors from birth, making them a true Extraordinary species.
These Half-Metal Giants occupied the richest Refined Iron Ore Veins on the Black Soil Plain. Relying on their tyrannical combat prowess, even the Barbarian Tribe and the Jackal Werewolf Tribe were unwilling to provoke them.
However, everything had its pros and cons. While the Half-Metal Giants boasted formidable combat power, reproduction was extremely difficult for them. Even without the disruption of War or a shortage of food, their population remained low, hovering around ten thousand.
Yet, this Half-Metal Giant Tribe of only about ten thousand had become one of the three great overlord factions of the Black Soil Plain, a testament to their fearsome fighting strength.
Their Defense Power was astonishing. Ordinary swords and blades could not even break the skin on their bodies.
The Barbarian Tribe had once coveted the Refined Iron Ore Veins beneath the Half-Metal Giant Tribe and sent fifty thousand troops to attack. In the end, they returned in a crushing defeat and had not set foot there since.
It was currently noon. Night Battle led a cavalry of nearly seventy thousand troops straight toward the valley where the Half-Metal Giant Tribe resided. They made no attempt to conceal their movements. Tens of thousands of cavalrymen galloping across the grassland swept in like a tsunami, creating a truly awe-inspiring spectacle.
The Half-Metal Giants resting in the valley were slow to react. It was only when Night Battle arrived outside the valley that they leisurely walked out from their tribe.
They had tall and burly builds, their bodies gleaming with metallic Radiance. Standing there, they looked like massive lumps of iron.
"Humans, what are you doing here? Have you forgotten the lesson from last time?" The leading Metal Giant was a full five meters tall and dark red all over, looking like a towering mech. It held a metal staff in its hand.
Even though Night Battle's forces outnumbered them several times over, the Metal Giant leader didn't panic in the slightest. It even showed a hint of disdain, paying Night Battle and his men no regard at all.
There was no other reason than they were simply too weak.
"We are from the Night Tribe. As for those people you mentioned, they should be from the Barbarian Tribe. The Barbarian Tribe has now been annexed by us," Night Battle explained with a hearty voice, riding his horse a few steps forward.
"Barbarian Race? Night Tribe?"
The Metal Giant leader paused for a moment, seemingly pondering the difference between the two. However, it quickly shook its head and said in a muffled voice, "I don't care if you're the Barbarian Tribe or whatever Night Tribe. Tell me, what is your purpose for coming here? If you want War, then bring it on. We aren't afraid of a fight!"
"ROAR!"
Hearing this, the Half-Metal Giants behind it clenched their left hands into fists, fiercely pounded their chests, and let out roaring bellows toward the sky.
CLANG!
The Night Tribe Warriors immediately grew tense, tightly gripping their Weapons. They looked at the General ahead, just waiting for his command to charge in and slaughter.
Night Battle frowned slightly and signaled his subordinates to stay calm. He slowly said, "I didn't come here to fight this time, but to negotiate with you under the Clan Leader's orders."
"Negotiate what? We have nothing to talk about with you. Since you're not here for War, then leave quickly. You are not welcome here." The Metal Giant leader had lived for decades, but spent most of its time eating and sleeping, making it appear somewhat unintelligent. However, while it wasn't smart, it strictly obeyed the teachings left by its predecessors: never make deals with the Human Race.
If possible, it was best not to even speak to them. Humans were incredibly cunning—more cunning than any other Race in the world.
If they didn't want to be deceived, they just needed to avoid contact with them.
Night Battle's face turned cold, dissatisfied with the Metal Giant's attitude. However, recalling the Clan Leader's instructions, he held back his temper and laughed chillingly, "Don't be so hasty. If negotiations fail, it won't be too late for us to fight then."
Others might fear the Metal Giants, but Night Battle certainly did not. Never mind them just having a layer of Armor on the outside—even if their entire bodies were made of iron, so what? Wasn't the battle blade in his hand also made of iron?
The Metal Giant leader fell silent for a moment before saying heavily, "Say whatever you want to negotiate quickly. I don't have anything here anyway, so don't think about swindling anything from me."
"There's nothing here for us to covet anyway." Night Battle glanced at the barren valley and made a sarcastic remark. Then, his tone turned solemn as he added, "Our Clan Leader has taken an interest in you and wants to make a deal. You join the Night Tribe, and we will provide you with enough Metal Ore. In return, you only need to offer your loyalty. How about it?"
"???"
The Metal Giant narrowed its eyes, stunned for quite a while, and asked with some uncertainty, "What did you say? You want us to surrender and join you?"
"You could say that," Night Battle nodded.
"You..." Burning with anger, the Metal Giant leader was about to charge forward right then and there, preparing to tear apart this human who had offended it.
What the hell? They didn't even look at their own strength before daring to spout such arrogant nonsense about making them surrender.
If it weren't worried about its tribemates suffering unnecessary losses, it wouldn't even be wasting breath with the other party here. But who would have known this human would push his luck and demand their surrender? It was simply going too far!
The Metal Giant leader roared furiously. Just as it took a step forward, it felt the sky darken. A coercive pressure as deep and vast as the abyssal sea descended from the heavens, pressing down upon the Earth, forcing it to a sudden halt.
"This is..."
Feeling a gaze fixated upon it, the Metal Giant leader felt like a tiny ant on the ground facing a Giant Dragon roaring at the world. Its body began to tremble involuntarily.
It wasn't just it; all creatures present felt that coercive pressure. They subconsciously lowered their heads, not daring to look up for fear of offending that great existence.
"Submit, or die."
A short sentence echoed in the minds of all the Metal Giants.
Even though they didn't have sweat, the Metal Giant leader still felt a chill run through its entire body, feeling as if it were about to break out in a cold sweat.
With the Metal Giant's silence, the pressure from the heavens grew increasingly heavier, as if a massive mountain were pressing down on them.
Looking back at its terrified tribemates, the Metal Giant leader revealed a look of struggle. In the end, it still lacked the courage to raise its head and said, "We submit."
The coercive pressure subsequently dissipated, and all the Metal Giants subconsciously breathed a sigh of relief.
Sensing that the existence had withdrawn its gaze, the Metal Giant leader quietly raised its head and stole a curious glance.
Above the firmament, profound Darkness had almost covered the entire sky.
At the center of the Darkness, a hundred-meter-wide vortex was slowly rotating, and an eye filled with majesty looked down upon the Earth.
GULP!
"My name is Eternal Night. I grant you this blessing; you may chant My Divine Name." As the Metal Giants chose to surrender, the Darkness above the heavens began to rapidly shrink, ultimately converging into a single point. Meanwhile, a domineering phrase surfaced once again in the minds of the Metal Giants.
"Farewell, My Lord."
"Farewell, My Lord."
"Farewell, My Lord."
All the Night Tribe Warriors shouted loudly. Then, led by the Metal Giant leader, the group of Metal Giants behind it also began to chant along.
