Chapter 19: Plane Exploration
Chapter 19: Plane Exploration
Under Su Xingyu's arrangements, the development of the Barbarian Race stronghold quickly got on the right track.
After determining the general development route, Su Xingyu did not linger there. After all, the Night Tribe had already urged him to return many times. Having transferred Ye San over and handed over the matters at hand, he immediately returned to the Night Tribe.
"Clan Leader, the physical fitness of the new clan members who joined us last time is quite impressive. They've become Extraordinary Warriors with just a bit of training," Night Battle reported, rushing over just as Su Xingyu had finished dealing with the governmental affairs Ye San left behind. He hadn't even had time to rest.
The new clan members he spoke of were the Barbarian Warriors who had returned with them last time.
After defeating the Barbarian Tribe, Su Xingyu had incorporated a large number of Barbarian Warriors into their ranks. Using the Night Tribe Warriors as the backbone, he had reorganized several legions. Without a doubt, the newly formed legions needed time to mesh. Since Night Battle was the second Commander of the tribe, leaving this task to him couldn't be more appropriate.
What Su Xingyu hadn't expected was for Night Battle to finish training them in less than two months.
Su Xingyu rubbed his temples and said softly, "It's a good thing they've become Extraordinary Warriors. Just keep training them. If you need any supplies, go directly to Elder Qi."
"If I needed supplies, I would definitely go to Elder Qi. The main issue is that I can't keep training them," Night Battle said, shaking his head.
Su Xingyu raised an eyebrow, his eyes narrowing slightly. "What do you mean you can't keep training them?"
"It's not that I can't train them. It's just that continuing to train them like this will yield Effects that are too poor." Facing the Clan Leader's questioning, Night Battle felt a bit pressured. He hurriedly explained, "Those guys' physiques are top-notch, no doubt about it. They can become Extraordinary with just some casual training. However, their organizational skills are truly abysmal. They have no idea how to coordinate. Once a fight breaks out, all they know is to charge forward..."
Hearing this, Su Xingyu couldn't help but laugh and teased, "Isn't that perfect? They're just like you. How about this—let's not bother finding them a Legion Commander. From now on, you'll be in charge of leading this group."
"Clan Leader, please don't make fun of me."
Night Battle scratched his head, looking somewhat distressed. "Honestly, I feel that training them like this won't have much of an Effect anymore. How about this... see if there's anyone nearby we can fight. I'll take them out for some field practice. After fighting a few more battles, they'll naturally learn how to coordinate."
On a battlefield involving tens of thousands of people, individual valor was important, but coordination with one's comrades was even more crucial. Soldiers weren't required to know everything, but they had to at least achieve basic organizational coordination with their comrades. Otherwise, relying solely on individual martial prowess, they wouldn't survive long on the battlefield. Even Night Battle, when leading a charge, would be accompanied by a group of personal guards rather than charging into enemy lines alone.
"Go outside and look for yourself. In this dreadful weather, where am I supposed to find enemies for you to practice on?" Su Xingyu shot him a glance and said testily.
"That's true."
Night Battle thought about it and realized it made sense. "Then what should we do? Why don't we go fight the Gnolls? I've heard they're quite strong."
"There's no rush regarding the Gnolls. I have other arrangements. We'll talk about it when spring comes." Su Xingyu clearly understood Night Battle's difficulties. He knew that training troops couldn't just be about drills; they had to be tested on the battlefield.
But there really were no enemies nearby for them to practice on. The scale of the army was too large, numbering in the tens of thousands. Finding a suitable target for such a massive army was no simple task.
He wondered, "Should I invade someone else's Plane?"
Since there were no suitable enemies on their side, they could only cast their gaze outward. After familiarizing himself with the situation during this period, Su Xingyu had a rough idea of his own strength. Among the Divine Spirits, he belonged to the relatively stronger tier. Randomly finding someone to invade and using them to train his troops was indeed a good choice.
However, after thinking for a while, Su Xingyu temporarily gave up on the idea of invasion. It wasn't that he was worried about losing or making enemies. The main issue was that the Night Tribe's current focus should be on development. Breaking his novice protection period just to train troops wouldn't be worth the loss.
"If I can't attack others, I can only look for those uninhabited Plane Fragments. However, the situations inside the Plane Fragments are complex, and the strength levels vary. It would be troublesome if I hit a huge snag," he murmured to himself.
In the Endless Void, besides the Planes with complete Laws, there were also some broken Plane Fragments. Living creatures existed within these Plane Fragments as well, and most of them were special life forms because ordinary creatures simply couldn't survive inside a Plane Fragment. The creatures within the fragments varied in strength, but they generally possessed the power of Extraordinary Warriors.
Among the functions provided by the system, there was an option to explore Plane Fragments, but Su Xingyu just hadn't used it yet. However, judging from the information in the World Channel, these Plane Fragments were quite dangerous. Most Players had lost troops to them. Of course, a small number had reaped rich rewards, obtaining many Extraordinary resources.
After pondering for a long time, Su Xingyu decided to explore a Plane Fragment, both to train the troops and to familiarize himself with this world. Exploring a Plane Fragment would not break the system's novice protection. Relatively speaking, it was a good choice.
"Go back and organize the troops first. If nothing goes wrong, there will be a tough battle waiting for you in a couple of days," Su Xingyu said.
After weighing the pros and cons, Su Xingyu told Night Battle to go back and prepare. War wasn't that simple; one couldn't just charge in on a whim. Pre-war preparations were essential. The army's logistics, the Warriors' mobilization, enemy intelligence, and so on all had to be ready.
"Understood, Clan Leader." Night Battle cupped his hands in a salute, his face full of excitement. He immediately turned around and walked out of the meeting room to carry out the pre-war preparations.
After Night Battle left, Su Xingyu opened the system panel and sent a message to Wang Dong on his friends list. "How much do you know about Plane exploration?"
Recently, Su Xingyu had conducted several trades through Wang Dong. Over time, their relationship had become quite good, and they would occasionally exchange intelligence.
It didn't take long for Wang Dong's reply to arrive.
[Black Star]: "I haven't used the Plane exploration function yet. I only have this handful of Warriors, and I'd cry to death if I lost any of them... What, are you preparing to start a Plane exploration?"
[Black Star]: "If you're going to explore a Plane, it's best to be careful. Probe the Plane's situation thoroughly before entering. The environments of some Planes are extreme and completely unsuitable for human survival. Going in rashly will cause you to suffer a huge loss. I had a client before who tried an exploration. The moment that guy opened the Teleportation Gate, before he could even go in, he was covered by gushing magma. His Essence died a truly miserable death."
[Black Star]: "Here is the exploration intelligence of a few Players that I know of. See if it's useful to you..."
[Xingyu]: "Alright, thanks a lot."
