Chapter 25: Victory or Defeat
Chapter 25: Victory or Defeat
"The victory is secured."
Although Su Xingyu hadn't personally participated in a battle of this scale, it didn't mean he disregarded this army.
This was a force of thirty thousand. Even though he trusted Night Battle's abilities, he couldn't just leave it entirely up to him. Therefore, during such large-scale operations, Su Xingyu still observed the situation through the perspective of his believers. This way, if any accidents occurred, he could open a Teleportation Gate in time to save them.
However, Night Battle certainly did not let him down. Despite facing an enemy several times their number, he still easily achieved victory.
Indeed, although the battle wasn't over yet, in Su Xingyu's eyes, the Night Tribe had already won.
The vanguard had collapsed, and the rear was in chaos. In such a situation, let alone the goblins, even if it were the Night Tribe's legions, Su Xingyu couldn't think of any other countermeasure besides a direct Divine Descent to boost morale and lead the elites in a countercharge.
Setting aside whether the goblins could even think of such a tactic, they wouldn't be able to execute it even if they did. To launch a countercharge, one needed powerful elites. Compared to the goblins, the warriors of the Night Tribe were obviously much stronger.
Hoping to regroup under these circumstances was nothing but a fool's dream.
Facts unfolded exactly as Su Xingyu had predicted. With the vanguard routed and the rear in disarray, the entire goblin army quickly fell apart. The massive number of goblins in the vanguard swept up the Blood Red goblins in the rear, fleeing backward together.
No matter how loudly the few chieftains shouted, it was completely useless. Having their courage shattered by the Black Armored Warriors, the goblins only wanted to escape this place. They couldn't see the long-term future and had no idea what consequences their current flight would bring. Or rather, even if they knew, they wouldn't care. Being able to live a little longer was all that mattered.
Seeing that the outcome over there was already decided, Su Xingyu withdrew his gaze and turned back to handle the administrative affairs at hand.
He had quite a lot of matters to deal with. Ever since he transferred a portion of the personnel to the newly constructed Wangdong City, his workload had increased significantly.
The Night Tribe was currently in a period of comprehensive reconstruction and growth. Su Xingyu needed to set the tone for their future development so they could progress smoothly in the days to come, rather than just taking things one step at a time. The Night Tribe was no longer small. If they wanted to develop, they needed long-term vision.
After defeating the Barbarian Race and subduing the Half-Metal Giants, the Black Soil Plain was practically already in his pocket. Barring any accidents, the Black Soil Plain would serve as his future headquarters. Because of this, he had to properly zone out the various areas.
Livestock pastures, horse breeding grounds, farming areas, planting zones, mining sectors, and so on—all required clearly defined boundaries. The construction of roads and the locations of outposts also required his final decision. These matters couldn't be settled on a mere whim; they required comprehensive consideration from multiple angles.
After all, defining these zones concerned the development direction of the Night Tribe for the next few decades. If he made the wrong choice, re-zoning wouldn't be so easy. Su Xingyu had been busy with these tasks lately, occasionally needing to go out for on-site field inspections.
"Clan Leader, the Blood Fang Base has completed its initial construction," a clan member said as he rushed in to report.
"It's finally built? That certainly wasn't easy," Su Xingyu remarked.
It had been a while since Night Battle conquered the Blood Fang Forest, yet the construction of the base had suffered from a lack of major progress. The main reason was that the Magical Beasts and monster races inside would occasionally burst out, severely disrupting the construction work. Now, after so much time, there was finally some decent progress.
"Since it's built, let's deploy more manpower over there," Su Xingyu said after some thought. "Send all the clan members who joined within the last half-month and haven't been assigned jobs yet. In addition, their supplies over there should be almost depleted by now. I'll write a list in a moment. Take it to Elder Qi, and have the supplies delivered to the Blood Fang Base along with the people."
With the Black Soil Plain falling into their hands, the Night Tribe had become the sole overlord faction of this land. The name of Eternal Night was praised across the entire Black Soil Plain, which naturally attracted many tribes to come and pledge their allegiance.
In the past half-month alone, nearly twenty thousand people had come to seek refuge. Some had even traveled from over a hundred miles away, bringing their entire families along. Such dedication could be considered extremely loyal. Of course, this was also related to the Night Tribe's excellent reputation.
Setting aside everything else, there was one simple fact: following the Night Tribe meant having a full stomach. This point alone was enough to tempt many tribes. After all, in this world, having enough to eat was no simple matter for ordinary people. Since the Night Tribe was reputable and generously provided food for its members, other tribes naturally chose to seek their protection.
Assigning these newly joined clan members to the Blood Fang Base couldn't be more perfect. The Blood Fang Forest had been cleared out once, and the remaining Magical Beasts were no longer a major threat, save for occasionally harassing the base. Therefore, there was no need to worry too much about safety issues.
"Understood, Clan Leader."
Receiving the order, the clan member turned and left.
Before Su Xingyu could even take a break, another clan member rushed in hurriedly. "Clan Leader, another tribe has come to pledge allegiance. There are over two thousand of them..."
"Mhm, I got it." Su Xingyu nodded calmly, then casually chided, "Don't be in such a rush next time. So they want to join us—it's not a big deal. There's no need to be in such a frantic hurry."
The young clan member let out a "HEH" and scratched the back of his head before replying formally, "Yes, Clan Leader."
"You... sigh, forget it."
Su Xingyu had no way to deal with these simple and honest clan members. With a somewhat helpless expression, he asked, "Where are they now? Has their accommodation been arranged?"
"Uh... they're already outside the tribe's gates. As for accommodation..."
"What's wrong with the accommodation? Are we out of houses again?"
The young clan member hesitated, then nodded and said, "More and more people have been joining lately. There isn't enough permanent housing, so we can only have them stay in tents for a while."
Su Xingyu frowned, then said, "In that case, arrange for all of them to go to the Blood Fang Base. They're short on people over there."
The Blood Red Base could never have too many people. That place was related to another of Su Xingyu's goals, so the more people at the Blood Red Base, the stronger its power would be, which was for the best.
"Understood, Clan Leader."
"Let's leave it at that." Su Xingyu nodded, standing up and walking outside. "Come with me to see the newly joined clan members. When we get there, you can explain the specific situation of the Night Tribe to them, as well as the rules and regulations, so they can adapt to life here as soon as possible."
"Yes, Clan Leader," the clan member replied loudly, following behind Su Xingyu.
"The resources they brought must be properly accounted for, and daily supplies must be distributed accurately. Don't leave out a single person. I don't want anyone coming to me later to complain that they didn't receive their supplies."
"Rest assured, Clan Leader. I will personally supervise this matter and ensure not a single clan member is left out."
