Chapter 27: Divine Skill: Undead Resurgence
Chapter 27: Divine Skill: Undead Resurgence
"Step right up, don't miss out! Take home a Tier Five Magic Beast Crystal Core for just one hundred thousand Blood Crystal Stones!"
"Golden Level broadswords, Golden Level Armor..."
"Massive sale on Magic Potions! We have all kinds, with discounts for bulk purchases!"
"Freshly harvested Spiritual Materials..."
"Tier Five Magical Beast hides, the absolute best choice for crafting Magic Items! What are you waiting for..."
"Grain, selling grain in bulk!"
The streets bustled like a crowded market, where players of countless distinct appearances loudly hawked their wares from their stalls.
Su Xingyu stopped and started as he walked, searching for the items he wanted.
Since there was no centralized store or auction house, players only had two ways to trade with one another: selling items through the information channel, or setting up a street stall in the City of Gods.
The first method saved time, but closing a deal was somewhat difficult. Hundreds of messages flashed across the information channel every second. Unless one constantly monitored it, their messages would be buried instantly. Hardly anyone would see the item details, let alone agree to a trade.
The second method was relatively more reliable. Even though setting up street stalls was the most primitive form of business, the transaction success rate was extremely high. Everything was clearly priced; if the price was right, the item was sold. With the system's authentication here, there was no fear of anyone selling counterfeits, so everyone traded straightforwardly and briskly.
Neither buyers nor sellers lingered here for too long. For this very reason, the items they brought along were all quite exceptional. After all, time was precious. If one brought a pile of junk to sell, it might not even sell at all. And even if it did, the profits would likely only cover the travel costs.
Su Xingyu browsed through over a dozen stalls. The items on display were all excellent, but unfortunately, he didn't find what he was looking for. Walking a bit further, he stopped in front of a stall surrounded by a crowd of players.
"Brother, your price is honestly a bit outrageous. You're selling a Golden Level Weapon for five hundred Divine Source? That's more than three times the market price." A Ratman player with a slightly short stature and a rather sleazy appearance picked up a claw weapon from the stall and looked at the Human Race player across from him. "How about this... let's just make a friend today. I'll offer three hundred Divine Source. This price is already close to twice the market value. It's a very sincere offer, what do you say?"
The Human Race player opposite him stood nearly ten feet tall, looking extremely burly. He glanced at the Ratman player and replied, "Four hundred Divine Source. Take it or leave it."
Hearing this, the Ratman player immediately hesitated.
The average price of a Golden Level Weapon in the City of Gods was between one hundred and fifty to two hundred Divine Source, making it a relatively expensive item. Currently, no Epic Level items had appeared on the market; Golden Level items were the highest grade available. Aside from a few players with forging-related abilities who could craft Golden Level Armor and weapons, other players either had to steal them from the natives of This Plane, or buy them in the City of Gods. Otherwise, it all came down to pure luck.
Golden Level equipment wasn't vastly superior to Silver Level gear, but there was still a difference. For top-tier experts, this slight edge was enough to determine victory or defeat.
"Fine, four hundred it is."
The Ratman player hesitated for a moment before finally gritting his teeth and buying it. The claw was highly compatible with his familiars. If he missed out on this piece, who knew when he would encounter another one like it. If it was a bit pricey, so be it.
The two parties quickly completed the transaction. With the claw in hand, the Ratman player hurried away from the stall to hunt for other items.
"Boss, can you go any lower on this?" an extremely beautiful Elf player asked, picking up a Magic Staff from the stall.
"Eight hundred, no discounts. You magic users should know exactly how precious this thing is." The boss glanced at the Elf player, completely unfazed by her appearance, and spoke flatly.
"All right."
The Elf player had wanted to haggle, but on second thought, the boss was right. At present, not many players could craft Golden Level Magic Weapons, so a high price was normal. She promptly and cheerfully paid up.
Su Xingyu stepped forward, reached out, and picked up a Scroll. Looking at the boss, he said, "How about a discount on this? One thousand Divine Source, what do you say?"
"Brother, you can't haggle like that! You just slashed two-thirds off the price in one go." The boss's face darkened, and he said, somewhat speechless, "Two thousand five hundred. I got this from a purple chest. If the attributes weren't a mismatch for me, I wouldn't even be selling it."
"Two thousand five hundred is too expensive. The difficulty of learning this Divine Art is probably quite high. Moreover, casting it costs Divine Source, and on top of that, you have to find corpses that meet the requirements." Su Xingyu frowned, looking at the boss. "Objectively speaking, the Divine Art is good, but there are too many restrictions. Two thousand five hundred is impossible. One thousand five hundred. That's already not a low price."
The boss naturally understood this logic, but as a merchant, he couldn't just let Su Xingyu lowball him like that. He put on a bitter expression and said, "Brother, no matter what you say, one thousand five hundred is just too low. This is a Divine Art, not some regular Magic Skill... Two thousand, just two thousand. I really can't go any lower. Any lower and I'd rather let it rot in my hands. I refuse to believe I won't eventually find an Undead element player."
"Do you really think an Undead element player would need to learn this Divine Art?" Su Xingyu glanced at the boss, then picked up another item from the stall. "Throw this in, and we have a deal at one thousand eight hundred. If not, forget it. I just want to test this out, and I don't even know if it will work. If it fails, I'll be taking a huge loss."
"This..." The boss immediately hesitated. As Su Xingyu said, if you talked about rarity, this Divine Art was undeniably precious. It was, after all, a Divine Art—a type of Magic meant for a Divine Spirit to use.
However, the flaws Su Xingyu pointed out were also completely valid; there were simply too many restrictions. Furthermore, normal deities couldn't learn this Divine Art, and Undead element deities didn't need to learn it. Still, selling it at such a low price while throwing in a freebie left the boss feeling a bit resentful.
Seeing this, Su Xingyu put down the Scroll and the blueprint, turned around, and walked away without the slightest hesitation.
"Fine, fine! One thousand eight hundred it is," the boss hurriedly called out, seeing that Su Xingyu wasn't bluffing and was genuinely leaving.
Su Xingyu stopped in his tracks, turned back to pick up the Scroll and blueprint, and initiated the trade. Afraid that he might change his mind, the boss quickly reviewed the offer, found no issues, and immediately confirmed the transaction.
Putting the two items away, a smile surfaced on Su Xingyu's face.
This Scroll recorded a Divine Art called "Undead Resurgence." Its Effect was very simple: transforming corpses into Undead Creatures. It was quite compatible with Su Xingyu's Divine Format.
As for the blueprint, it was a design schematic for a Three-Bow Bed Crossbow. It wasn't provided by the system; rather, it was drawn up by a player. This kind of blueprint wasn't particularly valuable—worth a hundred Divine Source at most. The further into the game, the less it would be worth, so calling it a freebie was entirely accurate.
