Chapter 10: Can a Mad Tyrant Be Forced? [10]
Chapter 10: Can a Mad Tyrant Be Forced? [10]
Chapter 10: Can a Psycho Tyrant Be Forced Too? "10"
Mu Jin felt like he had forgotten something, but couldn't recall what it was for the moment.
Eh, whatever he forgot probably wasn't that important.
With that thought, Mu Jin stopped dwelling on it.
While eating, he sensed a strong yet subtly resentful gaze fixed on him.
His hand froze mid-motion as Mu Jin suddenly remembered—these past two days, it had been Ying Huaifeng waiting on him during meals.
But now, as far as everyone else knew, Ying Huaifeng's legs had been crippled by him, so naturally he couldn't stand by his side, let alone come serve him with Mu Siyang right there.
But just lurking out there staring at him like that—wasn't he scared of getting caught?
Mu Jin couldn't help but furrow his brows. How could Ying Huaifeng make such a rookie mistake?
[Xiao Liu, what's up with the male lead? Isn't he afraid Mu Siyang will find out his legs are fine if he comes out now?]
648 went "ah" and explained, "No, host, the male lead isn't outside. He's still in his own room cultivating gu worms."
Mu Jin blinked: [But I clearly sensed someone watching me, and that gaze... it felt just like Ying Huaifeng's, coming from the window.]
648 looked into it and explained, "Ah, that's a little snake the male lead keeps. It's super venomous and quite intelligent."
"It's probably there to monitor you and the villain—don't worry about it too much."
Mu Jin didn't feel any relief hearing that; instead, a sense of unease crept in.
A snake...
Back in the day, he wouldn't have been afraid of snakes. He'd killed countless giant pythons—snakes never bothered him.
But now, he was weak and sickly, and these past few days he'd been having frequent dreams—always dreaming of a snake coiled around his body.
Though they were just dreams, they'd given Mu Jin a real dislike of snakes.
So much so that now, hearing 648 say the word "snake" made him uncomfortable.
Sure enough, those strange dreams were related to the gu worm Ying Huaifeng had planted in him.
Mu Jin thought about how much time he had left in this world and decided to tell 648 about it.
He didn't want to have those kinds of dreams every night for the rest of the time he had left.
648 was quiet for a few seconds after hearing that. "Technically, this is your first mission, and you don't have enough points for me to buy a dream blocker."
"However, if these dreams are really messing with you and affecting your mission, I can put in a request for a good dream pill."
"It replaces nightmares with good dreams, but it only works in this world. The application takes three days, so you'll have to tough it out for a bit, host."
Hearing 648's reassuring words, Mu Jin's brow relaxed, and he let out a soft "mm" before going back to eating.
Mu Siyang had been observing Mu Jin the whole time. Watching him pick up his bowl and chopsticks to eat, a flicker of regret flashed in his eyes.
He had originally wanted to feed Mu Jin himself, but unfortunately, although Mu Jin was blind, he handled his food pretty well.
If he hadn't chased away Zhou Fuhai, he wouldn't even have the chance to add food to Mu Jin's bowl now.
But from what he remembered, Mu Jin hadn't seemed this capable or clever before.
Going blind had really changed him.
Mu Siyang looked at Mu Jin with a meaningful gaze.
He just wondered whether Mu Jin had changed because of the shock he'd had, or because he no longer wanted to keep up the act.
Thinking about the reports his spies in the palace had sent back over the past two days, Mu Siyang placed a piece of fish into Mu Jin's bowl and said with a smile:
"Your Majesty, try this. The fish today is really good."
Mu Siyang recalled his spies saying that Mu Jin hadn't been mistreating the palace maids and eunuchs these past two days.
Instead, he seemed to enjoy tormenting that young Miaojiang man who had been sent over, and his appetite had gotten a lot better—he ate quite a lot at every meal.
Other than that, there was nothing unusual about him. He still had that unpredictable temper.
One moment he'd be praising something with a smile, and the next he'd order all the blossom trees cut down.
Mu Siyang thought about the thing he'd been after but hadn't gotten yet, and figured he should find an excuse to stay in the palace a few more days to personally check out why Mu Jin had changed so much.
Mu Jin turned his head and gave Mu Siyang a faint smile, pushing the fish and the whole bowl of veggies back toward him.
"You've been working so hard on my behalf lately, Regent. You should eat a bit more."
Mu Siyang looked at the leftover food Mu Jin had pushed back, without a trace of disgust. Instead, he chuckled softly:
"Then I thank Your Majesty."
The meal passed with both of them lost in their own thoughts.
But no one knew that Ying Huaifeng, watching the two of them sitting together through his little snake, was crushing gu worms one after another with a totally blank face.
The remaining few gu worms, the moment he put them back on his fingertip, immediately crawled onto his finger and rubbed against it like they were trying to please him.
One of them even bit through his fingertip. The smell of blood and the slight sting barely managed to snap Ying Huaifeng back to his senses.
The crimson in Ying Huaifeng's eyes receded, leaving only a deep, unreadable darkness.
He looked down at the gu worms on the back of his hand and sliced open his fingertip without hesitation.
Blood dripped onto the dead worms' bodies. The smell of blood in the air grew even stronger, luring the other gu worms over.
Ying Huaifeng watched with an expressionless face as they devoured the corpses of their fellow worms.
He didn't even bother to treat his wound—he just picked up a dagger and slashed his own palm too!
The blood kept flowing. The air was no longer filled with just the smell of blood, but replaced by a strange fragrance, and the gu worms were clearly getting excited.
Ying Huaifeng stared at the silver bracelet on his wrist, stained red with blood, his fingertip tracing over its patterns as he murmured to himself:
"His Majesty really is... so disobedient. He literally just said he liked me..."
He had clearly said he liked him just moments ago, and had agreed to share his bed tonight.
But then he turned around and let that Regent stay overnight in the palace, even eating with him! Letting him eat his leftovers!
Ying Huaifeng's gaze turned even more vicious. The gu worms that had just been well-fed and excited all curled into little balls, trembling in fear.
Damn it! That Regent deserves to die!
He hasn't even gotten to eat the dishes His Majesty had, so why the hell does that Regent get to?!
"Mm..."
Mu Jin, who was eating, suddenly felt a pang in his chest. He instinctively raised his hand to cover his chest as a wave of heat washed over his entire body.
Mu Jin felt uncomfortable and bewildered. This feeling was way too unfamiliar to him.
Not exactly bad, but not painful either.
It felt like something was crawling around inside him—itchy, hot, and tingly.
Such a weird feeling...
Mu Jin bit his lip, his eyelashes fluttering. No matter how hard he tried to control it, his breathing still turned ragged.
"What's wrong, Your Majesty?"
Noticing his strange reaction, Mu Siyang's expression shifted, and he asked with concern in his voice, reaching out to feel his forehead.
But the moment he touched Mu Jin, he got violently shoved away—and slapped across the face!
"Get lost! Don't touch me!"
The second Mu Siyang touched him, Mu Jin felt the spot he'd touched get even worse.
He didn't even bother with the formal "this subject," his voice dripping with disgust, and his gaze at Mu Siyang was icy cold.
That unfamiliar look made Mu Siyang freeze for a second, instinctively withdrawing his hand.
Mu Siyang frowned and barked, "Zhou Fuhai! Get the imperial physician here, now!"
"No need. I'm fine, just a bit tired. Regent, you can keep eating here by yourself."
Mu Jin closed his eyes, pressing lightly on the soft part of his palm.
At this point, he even wondered if he'd just imagined the whole thing.
But thinking more carefully, maybe it had something to do with the gu worms Ying Huaifeng had planted in him before.
Mu Jin was annoyed.
All the matters that needed to be discussed had already been settled. Why was Ying Huaifeng throwing a fit out of nowhere? Why did he have to mess with him like this?
He thought of the little snake watching them from outside.
Mu Jin pondered—was it because he'd spent too much time with Mu Siyang, making Ying Huaifeng uneasy, so he wanted to warn him this way?
The more he thought about it, the more he thought that was probably it. He no longer wanted to stay there with Mu Siyang, so he just pushed his wheelchair and turned to leave.
Leaving Mu Siyang sitting there, still confused.
In his view, Mu Jin had suddenly felt sick, slapped him, refused to let him call a doctor, and then left like nothing had happened.
Mu Siyang suspected Mu Jin just didn't want to be around him and had put on this whole act.
He stared at Mu Jin's retreating back with a deep, dark look, let out a cold laugh, and ultimately didn't chase after him.
Just as unpredictable as always.
Since the little emperor didn't like him, there was no point in begging for a beating.
Once he found that thing and took care of Yun Fuyue, there'd be no need for the puppet sitting on that throne.
By then, with his only support gone, the throne would be powerless—no matter what Mu Siyang wanted to do to Mu Jin, he wouldn't be able to fight back.
This wasn't all that different from Mu Siyang's original plan. As a hunter, patience was the most essential quality.
He'd endured all these years; there was no need to rush.
The only difference in this plan was Mu Jin, who had piqued his interest.
But...
Mu Siyang leisurely finished the dish Mu Jin had left behind, a determined gleam in his eyes.
This was just a side thing.
After leaving, Mu Jin harshly dismissed everyone, not even keeping Zhou Fuhai around.
With 648 guiding him, he quickly found Ying Huaifeng's bedchamber.
648 told him the little snake had been following him, so he stopped outside the door without speaking or knocking, waiting for Ying Huaifeng to open it himself.
Honestly, if his feet weren't messed up, he would've kicked the door open and pinned this inexplicably tormenting male lead down for a good beating!
Even if he knew the male lead was only worried about him getting too close to the villain and jeopardizing his plans.
But so what?
Since he dared to bully him, he should be prepared for retaliation.
