Chapter 227: Delinquent Girl

“Big Sister Xiaoyin said that we’re all his girlfriends.”

Her innocent, guileless words paired with her pure, childish face made it hard not to feel protective toward her.

As soon as she spoke, the surprised gazes of the two women fell on the only man present, their eyes practically saying: You’ve really got some nerve, you scoundrel, even tricking children.

Zhao Yicheng looked helpless. In front of these two “elders,” both of whom were a generation older than him, any explanation would be futile. Forget it, let them imagine what they will. After all, both of them knew he was mentally ill—nothing he did would be surprising.

“Acheng, you—”

Meng Zijiao’s stern voice had just started when Meng Zixin tugged her aside. Who knew what Meng Zixin whispered in her ear, but after her pretty face darkened and she shot Zhao Yicheng a heavy glare, she turned around and left in a huff.

Meng Zixin also stood up, patted Xu Yinsheng’s head, glanced at Zhao Yicheng, and left behind a reminder: “Be careful, and take care of yourself,” before hurrying to catch up.

After watching his two aunts leave, Xu Yinsheng plopped down right where she was, pulled an Artificial Diamond out of her pocket, and took a big bite.

“Mm~ Tasty©” Chewing on the Artificial Diamond ring, Xu Yinsheng let out a satisfied sigh.

Zhao Yicheng took the chance to sit down beside her.

As his large hand gently stroked her soft hair, he suddenly asked a question out of the blue: “Why didn’t you tell the truth? Don’t you want to go home?”

Pew!

A grain-sized Diamond Fragment shot unceremoniously onto his face, stinging a bit before it tumbled to the dirt below.

“I think if I told the truth, you’d kill someone.” Xu Yinsheng raised her head, gazing calmly into those indulgent black eyes as she answered.

“How could I? I’m a good person, you know. I’d never do anything illegal.” Zhao Yicheng smiled gently as he spoke these righteous-sounding words, making Xu Yinsheng’s teeth itch in frustration.

He patted the little loli’s head again and asked, “What do you want for dinner?”

“Roast Lamb Chop.”

She swallowed the remaining half of the Artificial Diamond in one go, then pointed petulantly at the charcoal-grilled lamb chops nearby.

“Tonight I want Emerald Roast Lamb Chop, and when you brush the sauce, use Emerald Powder.”

“Alright!”

Zhao Yicheng nodded in agreement.

Late at night.

After enjoying a delicious meal of Emerald Roast Lamb Chop, Xu Yinsheng curled up in her sleeping bag like a baby, a satisfied smile lingering at the corners of her mouth.

Soft little snores echoed through the tent. Xu Yinsheng was still deep in dreamland when a sudden shake woke her up.

She blinked her eyes sleepily, and the first thing she saw was a pair of all-too-familiar, hateful yet intimidating, bottomless black eyes—deep as the ocean.

“What is it?” Xu Yinsheng yawned.

Zhao Yicheng picked her up from the tent and sat her upright in his lap, letting her lean against his shoulder. He pointed at the dark night sky, at those dazzling golden meteors that flashed by one after another:

“The meteor shower is here.”

Xu Yinsheng looked up. Sure enough, more and more stars appeared, countless meteors streaking across the sky like radiant arrows, trailing brilliant tails and piercing the silence of the night.

In the end, they merged into a river of falling stars, racing across the heavens.

The sight was as beautiful as a scene from a movie.

“So beautiful.”

She couldn’t help but whisper in awe.

“Yes, it really is.” The man behind her sighed unconsciously as well. He gently held the loli’s small hand in his, intertwining their fingers.

“With meteor showers like this, I can watch with you again in five thousand years, and then another five thousand years, and another five thousand after that. No matter how the world changes, only I’ll be by your side.”

Their palms exchanged warmth, and their breaths grew heavier. In that moment, their very beings seemed to meld together.

Zhao Yicheng lowered his head, meeting those amethyst-like eyes. His lashes drooped slightly, and with a hint of remorse, he whispered:

“I’m sorry. I know I’ve done things you can never forgive, and made so many mistakes. I know how much you hate me.

But… please give me a chance. A chance to make up for these past two years.” “So, Xu Yinsheng, let me court you. Let’s start over.”

This moment seemed to mirror another from long ago.

A meteor shower, a heartfelt confession, a sincere apology.

The dragon girl loli in his arms had tears glimmering in her eyes. She raised her hand and rubbed her eyes, her lips moving as if to say something, but in the end, she only uttered:

“Hello*.”

Xu Yinsheng yawned, and a tear from the yawn fell down. She didn’t react to it at all, instead leaning back against the man, who had gone slightly rigid.

“To be honest, if it were any other normal woman, with a meteor shower, a heartfelt confession, a genuine apology—even if you’d given her your heart and bled yourself dry—she’d definitely forgive you after those three moves.”

“But…” Xu Yinsheng pointed at herself, a mocking smile curling at her lips.

“I’m a latecomer to this game. If you really count, I’ve only been a woman for two years.”

“With your three clumsy tricks, if you want to win me over, you’d better go home and practice some more.” As she finished, she flashed a thoroughly insulting middle finger.

Xu Yinsheng wanted to keep mocking him, but as soon as she raised her hand, the man’s grip tightened around her wrist. That familiar and yet unfamiliar handsome face was so close, just a little more and he could devour her.

“What, are you about to go crazy again?”

“Hmph! If you can’t even conquer your own flaws, what do you have to offer someone else?”

Xu Yinsheng grumbled, totally unfazed, her attitude pure “a dead pig isn’t afraid of boiling water.”

“I…”

He clenched his fist, a creaking sound coming from his hand. His nails dug deep into his palm, blood dripping down as crimson flames flickered in Zhao Yicheng’s deep-set eyes.

The next moment, he looked up, his previously gloomy face now shining with gentle warmth like the sun. “I just wanted you to watch the meteor shower with me a little longer.”

Xu Yinsheng looked at him, confused.

She hadn’t expected Zhao Yicheng not to snap after being provoked this time.

Zhao Yicheng sighed inwardly.

Xiaoyin was right. If he couldn’t even control his own emotions, then even if he succeeded, he’d probably end up like an abusive husband.

He had mental issues, sure, but after all these years of treatment, there was still no improvement. Who knew why.

With that thought, he held Xu Yinsheng and continued to watch the meteor shower that was expected to last another two hours.

As he held her, the feeling in his arms suddenly changed.

Zhao Yicheng looked down.

The cute dragon girl loli who’d been in his arms had vanished at some point. In her place was a girl in leather jacket, leather pants, leather boots—clothes revealing much skin, arms, shoulders, and neck inked with strange tattoos, her whole body exuding the aura of a delinquent from the underworld.

Zhao Yicheng glanced at his watch. Ah, no wonder—it was past midnight again.
