"Dude you ate everything the last time ,keep your hands out of this one." remi and chara were in the store where chara works that evening,this time the two were in a heated argument over sharing a bag of chips and chara was not willing to. "I didn't eat everything,I just ate most of it,if you told me you had this flavour I wouldn't have eaten most of the last one" remi defended his gluttony and reached for a chip. Chara smacked his hand and spat in the chips , "back off" she yelled furrowing her brows at remi. "Ah why are you like this over food ,I'll buy you another one don't be like this" remi said ,but his conquest for the snacks was interrupted by his phone ringing loudly. Chara still hogging the bag of chips commented, "Dude your ringtone is actually the worst thi-" a finger placed on her lips cutting her off, "shhhhhhhhhh, it's my mom,I'll be right back" remi said while looking at his phone screen then went outside the store to answer the call. "Pfft pfft- that prick put his salty hands on my mouth" chara murmured.

"My marshmallow are you okay? I've been trying to call you all day since yesterday and I never got any replies, any problems with the condition?", remi's mom asked in a concerned tone from the other end of the phone . "I'm fine, uhhh I just forgot my phone in a cab and uhhhh-got it back recently" remi thought of a lie on the spot ,not wanting to tell his mom about the 'blackout' he had and how he woke up in a strange place that morning. "Okay so when are you coming to visit home,I need to see how you are doing and your dad says I should check on you too, he had also been trying to call you" she said as she poured some water into a cup and remi could hear the trickling on his end of the call. " I don't know if I can visit mom, go play with your husband" remi said and yawned slightly, "your dad isn't around and I want to see my son, besides I play with my husband enough, when he is off work we call for hours and we-....." remi cleared his throat cutting her off, "okay that's enough 'young lady', i don't want to hear you and dad's love story again" . "heyyy how did you know I was about to tell it again" she asked . "you do this everytime he is out of town and you think about him, and then when I talk to him he just ends up talking about you too ,you guys make me sick" remi said in a mocking tone.

"You won't understand cos you don't love anyone yet" remi's mom replied ,remi could definitely visualize her twirling her hair right now. She did that whenever she thought about her husband, infact the two were so in love that during remi's childhood they sometimes forgot to spend time with him and would always be together, but he didn't mind ,his parents loved him a lot, but they loved each other in a way that could dwarve that, remi didn't mind though ,his family was always happy and together because of their affection to each other all these years.

"Blah blah , okay mom i have to go now I have school tomorrow" remi rushed his words trying to end the call , "it's Saturday sweetie ,tomorrow is Sunday, you better have come visit by next weekend or I will come to your apartment myself,understood?" she insisted on the visit and remi gave in, "fiiiiiine I'll come over on Wednesday or so , pleeeeeease make cookies for me when I come ,okay mrs tarrence?" He said teasing his mom for her obsession with his dad by using their surname. She giggled a bit then continued "Good, oh oh and what about your friend chara are you guys getting alo-..".

"oh no I can't hear you oh no ahhhh" remi muttered in the most unconvincing voice acting to cut his mom off "I have to go now,love you mom ".

"hey remi don't you dare cut the -" 'beep' . Remi sighed then chuckled a bit , interactions with his mom were always funny to him, she could be childish sometimes but she was a nice caring mom, he liked his parents but he wanted to avoid them this week due to the recent 'blackout' situation,he felt it would worry them and will be a pain if it's nothing important ,but most importantly he didn't want to have to stop living alone ,he enjoyed his cool flat.

Jana put the phone down and heaved heavily , she was at least relieved to find out her son was okay ,but she was worried he might be hiding something from her. She looked around the living room ,the house had been quiet since the family moved and remi had to stay on his own to be able to continue chasing his career in professional gaming, her husband 'Danil' was not always around so she was going to have to get used to being home alone now. She walked to the kitchen and thought about cooking ,on Saturdays she usually made remi's favourite for lunch but today maybe she figured she'd just make something else.

As she thought about her son the lingering thoughts she had always had came back, she felt guilty that he had the strange condition because of her and her family bloodline,she felt guilty that she would never be able to give him an explanation as her family history didn't have much she knew of that could explain things and she felt terrible because she knew she was not really getting close to finding a cure, *what if his life is ruined because of this?* She thought to herself as she chopped some onions. *No Jana don't think that way he will be fine it is nothing serious* she assured herself. *I really hope he is not finding it difficult at this new school,it was already hard for him when he was separated from chara when they were little and he didn't have many if any friends in his childhood until now except chara* . Jana always worried about remi's relationships, he was never good at forming friendships or showing care for others , sometimes she even wondered if he loved his parents- her and her husband, she never really remembers a moment where he had shown deep affection for his family,but she knew he cared ,he was just born different and she made sure she raised him with the best values she could teach him, it didn't do much to change his 'mental wiring',but it made him better than he might have been if she and Danil weren't as consistent teaching remi these values and understanding him as well.

She remembered when a much younger remi came home one day from school proudly reporting to his parents how he had told his teacher that she bored him and should be fired and that she was not married because she bored all the male teachers. When the young lady who must have been a very emotional type,felt bad and started sobbing ,he called her a wimp for crying in front of a child like him and made her cry even more. Jana remembered being shocked by remi's behavior that day maybe more shocked that such an emotional lady was unfortunate enough to be his teacher ,but she was very upset with him and couldn't stand how the kid felt no empathy for hurting someone's feelings just because he was bored . Jana was so upset at remi's strange behavior and tendency to be very self centered, she didn't know what to do at the time as she had scolded him many times from when he was a toddler until now, usually the child would learn patterns and drop bad behavior they were scolded for when little, but that was barely the case with remi,she didn't know why he acted this way and something a mother probably shouldn't feel towards her own child ,she felt annoyed and didn't want to look at remi as he happily announced his exploits of zero empathy.

That was when Danil ,who was the more patient of the two took his wife for a walk that night seperating her from remi. As the two walked outside in the garden Danil started to talk in his low soothing voice that she loved to listen to "Jana I see you looked very annoyed with remi earlier so I felt I had to separate you both before you lashed out on him" he spoke softly as he took his free arm and wrapped it around Jana in a side hug and started rubbing her shoulder,his wife was a short fuse and for the past six years of raising their son he had seen her get upset more than she ever did when they were dating, whenever remi would show behavior she didn't like,she would go over to him fuming or worried, telling him she didn't know what to do and he would just calmly drop his book he was reading or what ever he was doing and tell her he would handle it. And after he would correct the child in his usual style of calm parenting, Jana who was upset will always come back to apologize to remi and more often than not shower him with positivity and spoil him however she could to make up for being upset with him or sometimes as her attempt to be a calmer parent like her husband, in the end she was a big 'softie' despite her temperament and never once hit or even yelled at remi, she always went to Danil when she was upset with remi ,and would complain to him about it like she was an older sister whose little brother kept pissing her off .

But now he knew that even though she had never been a mother before he should help her out with being a parent and correct somethings he felt she did wrong, "you know Jana the last thing I would want is for you to not be on good terms with each other when remi grows up , I know this is your first experience raising a child, it is mine too, but I think you must try to understand remi better" Danil added while still patting his wife's shoulder. Jana wriggled out his hug visibly upset and turned to face him "I'm not angry with our son I just don't understand why he is this way he is growing older and is not showing much signs of behaving how we teach him" she said while her hand moved around very animated ,making all the gestures one would when complaining. "Hahaha.. Jana my love I know you are upset with the child ,but it is okay you have emotions too" Danil said as he took off his reading glasses and cleaned them, "let's sit down" he added and went over to sit on the wooden bench in the garden ,"the cool evening breeze is excellent here you know" he added and patted the space next to him signalling to Jana to come sit. Jana hesitated but no matter how angry she was she always listened to Danil because he was the best at calming her down, she walked over complaining "okay maybe I am angry at him but aren't you when he does these things and acts very selfishly ? I don't like it, my parents didn't raise my siblings and I to act that way ,why isn't it working on him" she plopped in the bench folding her arms . "Jana we must be patient with remi, yes we have taught him good manners and yes he acts selfishly,but we must understand that some people are just born or work different", he said then paused and placed his hand on her thigh.

"I know you love remi ,that is why from now we will have to do our best to teach him until he learns" he said then gently moved a strand of jana's silver hair from her face.

Jana, in a scene that showed her resemblance to remi more than ever, friskily shook her head and pouted as though refusing his soothing gestures that she knew he used to get to her everytime,he smiled to himself thinking how remi and Jana were so similar in their silly ways then decided to continue what he was saying. "I was doing some studying and I think remi might have a personality disorder" he said now lowering his tone even more."A personality disorder? What do you mean he is perfectly healthy " Jana retorted, "Jana I've been observing him for the past six years and it may not be clear now , but if we don't teach him consistently he could grow up to become a high level narcissist" said Danil. "Narcissist? I don't understand, why will he be that? we don't teach him anything that aids narcissism,do we?". Jana said confused.

"I was confused too, but I learnt that some people can be born with very specific personality traits wired into their brains,we must start teaching him now and let him be aware of himself. that is the only way we can make him better off if he truly has this personality disorder .....or tendency to say it better" ,he said while pushing up his glasses.

Jana paused for a bit thinking on what she just heard "then if he has this disorder or tendency like you call it,will he always act like he does now no matter what?" she asked. "Not if we let him be aware of his actions and teach him in a way that he will understand" ,Danil replied ."so how do we do that?" Jana asked ,the anger she was feeling earlier was completely gone now as she focused on the possible new variable with her son."he is still very young so if we consistently teach him better behavior he will learn eventually we just have to be patient with him" Danil said pushing his glasses up again  slightly from the bridge of his nose "also maybe we can take him to a psychologist to understand him better and learn what we can do for him if my guess on his personality is correct" he added , "and also I think a good way we can make him learn things is when we teach them to him using himself as the example since we know how much he hates discomfort for himself, if we can teach him how his actions affect others by letting him learn through how such things can also affect him, I think it will help him understand better as he grows up" he concluded sharing his speculations and findings with Jana. "Hmmm so you are saying first I have to stop being upset with remi that it is not his fault he acts how he does?" Jana asked ,still worried about hearing the possibility of a "disorder" earlier.

"Yes not entirely his fault, he is young so we should teach him to be self aware as soon as we can and it should help him going forward, I don't know if what I'm saying Is correct yet, I am just assuming after observing him for a while now, I want us to try and understand him so we can be better parents to him " Danil said and relaxed in the bench as he watched remi from the garden ,remi was playing in the kitchen completely oblivious of, or maybe just uninterested in his parents who were having a discussion in the garden just outside. Danil smiled as he observed the child who was still innocent,he was not going to give up on his son or label him a bad person even though he wasn't the sweetest child you would meet, Danil was determined to raise a fine young man ,no matter how difficult and he had to encourage his wife to join him as well even though she herself could be a handful. Jana who though was temperamental wasn't stupid and understood Danil was right and they should not give up on remi no matter what, she decided if her husband was right and remi really was just born and handed a case of the "stuck up little shrimp"as his personality to work with,then she was going to find a way to make it work and teach the boy to become better somehow.

"Ahh the men in my life are such two different people huh ?" Jana muttered to herself as she felt reassured after remembering how remi was in early days and how much he had grown now .She felt rather proud of remi as she remembered his growth as a person from his childhood until now, to her he was a much better teenager than she expected he would grow to be.

Ever since she had that talk with Danil that evening she changed her approach to remi completely, showering him with positivity whenever she could and stayed infinitely patient with him even when he did wrong, as she taught him things.

She would almost always praise everything he did and support his goals to 'a hundred and one percent' and it seemed to all work as remi was less mean to people and sometimes even went out of his way and displayed acts of selflessness,maybe she was raising him right afterall.

But Danil's success in his job over the years meant he was at home less and less as time went on and she became the parent mostly responsible for raising remi as he grew older, but Jana always had doubts and questioned her parenting, she completely dropped her temper to raise remi and follow danil's advice,but even now she still feels that maybe she is responsible for remi still having a difficult personality, she would often think to herself, is there really such a thing as a personality disorder or did I make him this way? And him developing this strange condition of the 'gender change' from her side of the family didn't help either, Jana constantly felt she was the main cause or one at fault for everything that remi did and anything that happened to him, maybe she was just being overbearing, she would tell herself.

She still wasn't sure but she felt remi turned out alright , she decided to stop worrying too much about her son ,he wasn't perfect but she believed he was trying to do better so she dropped the lingering doubts she had earlier of if he had any love for his parents and decided to focus on thinking about how much she loved her little family instead.

She went back to her cooking, for the rest of today she would forget about worrying over her child, but the question would never leave her mind- can people really be born a certain way or am I solely responsible for everything he is today?....
