Chapter 24~ Slow day

Wednesday morning .... The weather was cool , cloudy and relaxing , a little windy but not enough to be a nuisance. Arloh lifted his head from his desk in the classroom, the school season had barely started but he already felt like he lived in the classroom with how he had to be here five days a week.

* It's rather quiet this morning , I kind of forgot how quiet and relaxing it could be in the mornings before classes started* Arloh thought to himself as he rested his head on his left palm. That was his favourite time of the school day,he loved to take quick naps at that time. Though ever since Rei arrived at the school that routine came to an end. She and Chara would chatter and make all sorts of noise , if they weren't doing that Rei was somehow having a chat with a crowd of classmates, rowdy enough to stop Arloh from sleeping.

But he has kind of gotten used to it, and it made their class livelier than it usually was. As thoughts of the duo of Chara and Rei crossed his mind , he looked over only to see Chara sitting quietly and twiddling her thumbs ,looking like a depressed seal.

* She must be bored without her friend* He thought and rested his head on the desk and put a book over his head to let others close by know he was not to be awoken.

Riiiiinnnnngggg!!! Jana's phone rang out from the table of the dining room , where Rei was seated quietly at the table while Jana attended to dishes in the kitchen,Rei who has been refused to help out with the chores , was sat awkwardly at the table ,just staring ,but was greatly startled when the phone rang suddenly.

"Oh that must be your father, he's been trying to contact all week" Jana commented as she rushed into the room , wiping her wet hands on the apron she had on.

"My father?" Rei asked, wearing a confused face.

* Well I expect I do have a father as well, I most likely forgot about him too *

"Hello dearest.. " Jana said with excitement as she answered the call.

"No you're dearest", Danill, Remi's father, replied from the other side of the phone.

"No you," Jana said ,blushing heavily.

"No you," Danill said, refusing to be the 'dearest' that title belonged to his wife.

"No you"

"No you"

"What are you doing?" Rei asked suddenly, confused about why Jana kept repeating the same words over and over.

"Oh." Jana said and cleared her throat, we got carried away, "..Did you forget why you called dear?"

"Oh silly me, Rei my boy, how are you doing?" Danill asked ,beaming with excitement as Jana handed the phone , which was now on video call , to Rei.

* Boy? Why do they keep calling me with names for a son? Is this like when a family has only one heir so they call them son even if they are a daughter..I see* Rei thought to herself and nodded.

"Greetings father," she said and did a subtle now.

"What? What's this you're doing?" Danill said and laughed, seeing his child's manner of speech as a lighthearted prank.

"How have you been, I have been trying to call you two for a long time" He asked , adjusting his reading glasses also whilst holding the phone at an odd angle that made his forehead look gigantic on the camera.

"Err....I had wanted to say ,look how much my handsome son had grown, but I guess in current circumstances, beautiful daughter will have to do." Danill said and scratched his head, finding humor in the rather peculiar situation.

"Thanks,...father? I am doing fine...how are you?" Rei asked, still feeling quite unsure in general.

"I'm just fine myself, your mother wrote to me about what happened, please watch your health better from now on." He warned , finally moving the phone back, away from his face.

"Yes I will." Rei said and warmed up into a smile. Although she still wasn't familiar with these people and knew it would take some time to get all her memories back , she felt safe and happy with them.

"Alright you terrible kids, remember to prepare for the quiz next week, I will not be telling you where to study or what I will ask about....just prepare, or don't,that's fine too." Miss sunny announced as the bell rang through the halls to announce the current class was over, she lazily turned to leave the classroom but was interrupted as the door suddenly flew open and Bel came rushing in, looking rather disheveled.

"Well look who finally showed up to school." Miss sunny remarked ,with one hand on her waist.

"A lot happened and I couldn't make it on time" Bel murmured simply, staring down at her feet and panting heavily.

"Care to tell what happened young lady?" Sunny asked sternly.

"No ma'am" Bel murmured and made her way to her seat in the classroom.

"Then that's detention after school.. I don't get paid enough for this." Sunny sighed and left the classroom.

Bel had arrived rather late, the first two classes of the day were over, everyone assumed she was skipping the day , but she showed up looking very out of sorts which was simply unusual for Bel, someone who was very mindful of her image.

"Are you alright?" Asked Cassandra, one of Bel's 'minions' as she took her seat next to them at the right back corner of the class.

"Do I look alright?" Bel asked abrasively.

"Okay jeez, you don't have to get feral about it." Cassandra said dismissively and turned around, ignoring Bel to talk to the other girls.

"Sorry I just couldn't get any sleep. And then on the way here the car broke down, my parents were already pissed that I woke up late , they wouldn't want to hear another excuse so I had to run here and.....you're not listening."

Bel realizing her friend was not paying any attention to her explanation, gave up and sighed in disappointment.

Chara who was watching from her seat , sighed heavily. She wondered when Bel was going to figure out that her 'clique' didn't care much or at all about her, probably never.

Bel turned around, suddenly making eye contact with Chara .The two almost in sync,scoffed at each other and looked away in opposite directions.

Chara tried to show as little concern as possible for Bel, afterall she hated her guts, but she couldn't help but worry, afterall she was one of the few people who knew that whenever Bel had problems sleeping , it was because she was very upset or sad.

* What could she be upset about? She always acts like she has it all going perfect.* Chara thought for a bit.

"Oh well it's not my problem" she mumbled and went back to idling.

With neither Remi not Rei here today, it was rather boring for Chara, it hadn't been that long , but she had come to prefer school much better with her best friend around.

"Alright kids , I assume we are all aware of the unexpected snow storm that is happening outside right now." Principal Ryan announced as he walked into the chemistry lab.

"It would seem the weather is rather peculiar this year as we should not have gotten any snow until at least a month later, so I advice that from now on you all bring emergency winter clothing to school,until the end of the autumn and winter seasons." He added making his way to the front of the class next to miss sunny and three other teachers who were standing there as well.

The students who were a combination of grade 12 A and B had been crammed into the room, there was enough space for all of them but not enough seats so some of them were left standing.

"Now you may be wondering why we had you all gather in this room, well it is because it was an emergency to keep you in good health." Ryan said and adjusted his glasses as he often did.

The students were quiet and paying attention, out of character for them, for one it was because it was principal Ryan speaking and also because they were still rather confused and wanted to know what was going on.

The focus didn't extend to everyone though , as Trisha who was standing at the far back of the class had managed to fall asleep ,standing upright.

Cassandra and Bel who were close to her, decided it would be funny to craft a paper boat and place on her head to watch how long before it fell off and we're finding it way funnier than it actually was , letting out obnoxious giggles.

Jerry was talking football with Aran, while the student's council had found a spot to hideout and fool around, somehow Hote had found a spot under one of the huge tables at one of the corners of the class and quickly alerted Mac and Flora , who were down to follow her and take a comfy spot under the desk to have their gossip and pay no attention to the principal.

Arloh was zoned out by a window seat,bored for days . And Chara...well she was paying full attention to the principal, seated up front and center of the class.

"So as I was saying.." principal Ryan continued, "...due to the unexpected snow storm we had not prepared any heaters in your classes and it was getting incredibly cold there due to the positions of those rooms, so since we can not leave until the storm dies down, you will all have to wait here where it is warm until the storm settles or we find ways to get you all to your homes." He said , to groans of disappointment and confusion from the crowd.

Most of it was because they just wanted to go home while the other was the fact that students from class A and B didn't exactly get along to some degree. So hearing they would be stuck with the 'enemy' for a while was mildly upsetting.

"Now while you all are here, your teachers have told me about the slight hostility that exists within both classes towards the other." Ryan said and again pushed his glasses up his nosebridge , staring intently and enthusiastically at the students.

No one really answered directly, but the mild mumuring and gurmbling that started confirmed things for Mr Ryan.

"Well that is why , during the coming weeks and starting from today we will be doing some team building activities pairing students from both classes into small groups, this will help you all get along better and avoid conflicts , do we understand?"

"Yes principal Ryan" most of the class echoed in unison.

"So now , I will be announcing your pairings and or groups" Mr Ryan said as he took a folded piece of paper out of the pocket of his blue suit.

He cleared his throat and started to read. Everyone paid more attention to see who they were paired with , hoping it wasn't someone from the other class that they hated or strongly disliked .

After a couple minutes or so, principal Ryan arrived at the last names on the list.

"Trisha!" He said with a loud voice, certain that the girl must have been dozing of somewhere, he wasn't entirely wrong, instead she was still fast asleep with the paper boat still on her head.

"Oh dear, someone take the paper contraption off of the girls head please." Principal Ryan requested, showing visible disappointment on his face.

Bel and Cassandra who were still having too much fun with the joke pretended not to know anything about it, trying to drag it out as much as they could.

Jace, another of Bel's clique reached over and removed the paper boat from atop Trisha's head, to which she received a look of disapproval from Bel and the others.

"Trisha will be paired with Flora...where is Flora?" The principal said as started looking around trying to spot Flora.

"I didn't do it!!! It was all Mac's idea!!" Flora shouted and jumped out from under the table as soon as she heard her name. Banging her head underneath the desk in the process.

"What?" Principal asked confused.

"Oh." Flora was flushed with embarassment, rubbing her head.

Mac wasn't pleased that she was ready to pin an event that didn't happen on him. He made it clear from his scowling eyes and piercing stare at Flora.

"I believe the rest of the student council are underneath that desk ? "

Hote and Mac crawler out from under the table , chuckling nervously.

Principal Ryan simply sighed and continued his announcement.

"Next we have Chara , Darius and Bel."

"What?!!!" Chara and Bel exclaimed almost simultaneously.

"Any problem young ladies?" Principal Ryan asked, raising his brows from behind his glasses at both of them.

Neither of them said anything back and simply wore upset and disgusted looks on their faces.

"And lastly, we have Arloh, with Roma and ...Rei or Remi." Mr Ryan read the last names on the list and looked up, checking the class for the names he had called.

"Where is Remi? Or Rei? Anyone?" He asked, looking around.

"Neither of them are here today sir, " Arloh answered before anyone else could.

"Oh dear, I heard about the medical emergency Rei had, I guess she is still recovering and Remi can not make it due to his other commitments....." Ryan concluded. "..very well, the group will remain and when either returns let them know."

Ryan finished his announcement and said some extra information to the students before hurrying out the class to wherever he was headed next.

The class immediately erupted in noise and murmurs, some students confused and some rather excited by the groups they were in.

Chara was extremely upset , she placed her head on the desk and covered it with her backpack.

Arloh didn't know how he felt, what were the odds he would get paired with Rei? He didn't realize a slight smile had worn on his face.

He observed the chaotic classroom, there was a blizzard outside and he was in a crowded classroom with about fourty other students, Chara was throwing a tantrum with her head covered with a backpack, Bel was visibly gagging in disgust, Trisha was asleep on the ground now, and two guys had started fighting somehow,and still he felt it was a rather uneventful and boring day , it just wasn't fun, probably cause she wasn't around. 24Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡ28MCLN7ZXc
