Chapter 178 Day 10 of Transmigrating into a True and False Young Master Novel
Chapter 178: Day Ten in the Fake Young Master Novel
An Yi packed his laptop and books into his backpack with steady, unhurried movements, clearly preparing to leave.
Yan Hui watched his actions, a flicker of emotion in his eyes.
He no longer hesitated, pulling his phone out of his pocket. He deftly unlocked it, pulled up his contact QR code, and then extended his arm across the table, presenting the phone screen to An Yi.
"Want to add me?" His voice remained low, like a question.
An Yi paused in the motion of zipping up his backpack, looked up at Yan Hui, then at the phone screen in front of him. He said nothing, nor did he immediately take out his own phone.
Yan Hui held his phone aloft, his arm steady in midair, with no signs of backing down.
He simply looked at An Yi like that, his lips still curved, but his eyes were like a predator's, patient and tenacious.
Sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating the dust particles suspended in the air, as well as An Yi’s unnaturally calm face and Yan Hui’s resolute eyes.
After a few seconds, An Yi took out his phone from the side pocket of his backpack. He unlocked it, opened the scanner, aimed at Yan Hui's QR code, and heard a soft "beep."
Yan Hui watched the friend request notification pop up on the screen. A hint of triumphant amusement flashed quickly through the depths of his eyes, but he restrained it immediately and swiftly clicked "Accept."
He pocketed his phone and saw the new contact saved as "Baby" in his address book, then contentedly slipped the phone back into his trouser pocket.
The girl not far away silently died inside. So it was a "wrong gender" situation after all.
An Yi put his phone back in its place, shouldered his backpack, stood up, and walked straight towards the library exit.
Yan Hui also immediately stood up, naturally falling into step beside him, keeping a half-step distance.
The two walked through the quiet corridors, down the steps, and merged into the crowd of students coming and going on the tree-lined campus path, drawing sidelong glances from passersby.
Just as An Yi was about to walk out of the school gate and head towards the parking spots by the curb, his gaze inadvertently swept across the street, and his footsteps paused almost imperceptibly.
A sleek, expensive black luxury car was parked conspicuously by the curb.
And beside the car, leaning against it, was a man in a well-tailored suit—Gu Xinou.
Gu Xinou had clearly also spotted An Yi walking out of the school gate. A gentle smile spread across his face. He straightened up, about to walk over.
However, the smile at the corner of his mouth had just begun to form and hadn't fully formed before it froze.
His gaze swept past An Yi and locked firmly onto the tall, imposing man beside him.
It was Yan Hui.
How had Yan Hui ended up with An Yi?
What was that look in his eyes when he looked at An Yi?
Gu Xinou's smile vanished like a receding tide, his expression darkened, and his eyes instantly turned sharp, locking onto Yan Hui.
Yan Hui naturally saw Gu Xinou as well, along with the undisguised hostility in the other man’s gaze.
Not showing any embarrassment, he actually deepened his roguish smile as he met Gu Xinou’s stare, even raised his hand in a casual wave towards Gu Xinou’s direction, and clearly mouthed a greeting:
"Hey! Good afternoon."
There was definitely a hint of provocation in the gesture.
An Yi paid no attention to the silent showdown between the two men. He walked straight to his own car, pulled open the door, took his backpack off his shoulder, and placed it on the passenger seat.
Gu Xinou took a deep breath, suppressing his surging anger, strode across the road to An Yi's car.
He tried to keep his voice calm and gentle: "A Yi."
An Yi didn’t stop his actions, not even glancing up.
He had long grown tired of correcting Gu Xinou’s overly familiar form of address. He had told him several times not to use it, but he kept doing it anyway, so he just stopped wasting his breath.
He closed the passenger door, walked around to the driver’s side, opened the door, and prepared to get in.
Seeing his posture of completely ignoring him and preparing to leave, Gu Xinou grew anxious. He stepped forward and blocked the door.
His voice held a hint of urgency and accusation: "A Yi, how could you be with him?"
He deliberately glanced at Yan Hui, who was lounging nearby, arms crossed, watching the scene.
An Yi finally lifted his eyes and looked at him, looking puzzled: "Do I need to report to you who I’m with, Mr. Gu?"
Gu Xinou was momentarily speechless, his face turning even uglier.
And Yan Hui, standing a few steps away, hearing An Yi's distant "Mr. Gu," his smile became even brighter and smugger.
He raised an eyebrow at the ashen-faced Gu Xinou and said: "I came to find An Yi myself."
An Yi no longer paid attention to the silent standoff between the two men. He slid into the driver's seat, closed the door decisively, fastened his seatbelt, and started the engine.
The car pulled smoothly away, merging into traffic, leaving behind a grim-faced Gu Xinou and a smiling Yan Hui whose eyes still followed the car.
An Yi’s taillights disappeared at the street corner, leaving behind only the charged tension between the two men.
Gu Xinou's face was a mask of cold, offended fury.
He turned around, his gaze fixed on Yan Hui like a physical force as he stepped closer until only a single pace separated them.
"Yan Hui." Gu Xinou’s voice came through gritted teeth, carrying suppressed anger: "What's your game?"
Yan Hui stayed in his lazy pose, leaning against his own car with arms crossed, a smile lingering at the corner of his mouth: "What game? I came to find him, chatted for a bit. Since when does Master Gu care who people are friends with?"
"Friends?"
Gu Xinou let out a scoff, his eyes mocking: "Since when has someone like you, Yan Hui, been so devoted to a friend? Following him all the way to the library? Drop the act. An Yi is my fiancé. I hope you stay far away from him."
He deliberately emphasized the word "fiancé," trying to draw a line and assert his claim.
However, Yan Hui's smile didn't waver; it actually grew bolder because of those words.
He even nodded quite approvingly, his tone light: "I know, 'fiancé' right?"
He paused, then leaned forward slightly, closing in on Gu Xinou. His deep eyes gleamed with undisguised provocation and shameless honesty: "So, can’t you see? I just want to be the other guy."
These words made Gu Xinou’s pupils contract. He could barely believe his ears.
"You... what did you say?"
His voice was filled with incredulous fury: "Yan Hui! Have you no shame?! Do you even know what you’re saying?"
"I said..."
Yan Hui enunciated each word clearly, repeating them with even a hint of delight: "I. Want. To. Be. An. Yi’s. Side. Piece. And. Steal. Him. From. You. Got. A. Problem. With. That?"
