Chapter 179 Day 11 of Transmigrating into a True and False Young Master Novel
Chapter 179: The Eleventh Day of Transmigrating into the Substitute Novel
Yan Hui's matter-of-fact attitude of "I've made up my mind, what can you do about it?" completely ignited Gu Xinou's fury.
Gu Xinou had always known that Yan Hui was unrestrained and audacious, but he never imagined he could be this shameless!
"You son of a bitch..." Gu Xinou was so angry that veins bulged on his forehead, all his refined upbringing vanishing in an instant.
He suddenly grabbed Yan Hui by the shirt collar and slammed him hard against the cold car window, producing a muffled "bang."
Yan Hui was seized by the collar but showed no sign of distress. He even leaned into the force, resting against the car, looking up at the enraged Gu Xinou with that rogue smile still on his lips, though his eyes had turned cold, carrying an unyielding resolve.
"Friend?" He scoffed lightly, his gaze sharp as a knife: "Gu Xinou, don't bring up our friendship. An Yi is more important."
He met Gu Xinou's fiery glare without flinching, speaking each word with weight: "I've set my sights on him. I want him. It's that simple."
"As for your fiancé status? Hah, you're not even married yet. And even if you were..."
He didn't finish his sentence.
"Bang!"
A fierce fist, accompanied by a whoosh, smashed heavily into Yan Hui's cheekbone.
Gu Xinou was thoroughly provoked, his reason burned away by jealousy.
This punch used all his strength, showing no restraint.
Yan Hui's head was knocked to the side, his lip instantly splitting, seeping a trace of crimson blood.
He licked the metallic taste of blood from the corner of his mouth. Instead of getting angry, a more excited and fierce light ignited in his eyes.
"That's more like it," he chuckled, his voice slightly hoarse from the blow. "Should have done this long ago. Why play the gentleman?"
Before the words faded, Yan Hui struck back fiercely!
His movements were fast, with explosive power honed from long-term training. A heavy elbow strike slammed into Gu Xinou's abdomen.
Gu Xinou grunted, bent over in pain, but he reacted quickly, wrapping his arms around Yan Hui's waist and trying to throw him to the ground.
The two instantly tangled, like beasts fighting over territory, engaging in a street-side brawl that was chaotic yet ruthlessly brutal.
Their expensive suits and shirts were torn and disheveled, stained with dust and blood.
"Stop fighting! Stop it now!"
"Call the police! Quick, call the police!"
"Sir, calm down!"
A few passing college students were frightened by the intense scene. After hesitating, they mustered the courage to rush forward and, with great effort, managed to pull the two apart, both bloodshot with fury.
Gu Xinou was panting heavily, his lip split, his cheekbone bruised, his carefully styled hair disheveled, his suit jacket missing, and his white shirt spotted with bloodstains and dust. He looked utterly disheveled, especially with the hits to his abdomen that made every breath a sharp pain.
Yan Hui wasn't much better off. His cheekbone was swollen, his lip bleeding, and there was a scrape on his forehead. Several buttons on his dark gray shirt were torn off, revealing his chiseled chest and abs, which also bore a few noticeable bruises.
But he stood straight, his eyes still fierce, and even wore a careless smile on his lips, as if he hadn't been the one injured.
Gu Xinou wiped the blood from his mouth with his thumb, giving Yan Hui an icy glare.
Without a word, he staggered to pick up his suit jacket from the ground, turned, and walked to his car. He yanked the door open, climbed in, and started the engine. The high-performance sedan roared to life, lunged forward, and quickly disappeared down the street.
Yan Hui watched the car drive away, then wiped a streak of blood from his forehead, wincing as it pulled at the wound on his lip.
He looked at the still-shaken college students and even managed a grin, though it looked somewhat fierce due to the injuries on his face: "Thanks, buddy."
With that, he didn't linger. He strode to his car, got in, and drove off in the opposite direction from Gu Xinou.
By the time An Yi returned to the Song family villa, the sky had already darkened.
The villa was brightly lit.
----------
Song Chengye and Lin Wan were sitting on the living room sofa—one watching financial news, the other flipping through a fashion magazine. They knew An Yi hadn't come back yet and were waiting for him.
When they heard An Yi enter, both looked up.
Lin Wan put down her magazine, her face lighting up with a smile: "Xiao Yi, you're back? Have you eaten dinner yet? There's still soup warming in the kitchen. Would you like some?"
An Yi changed his shoes, walked into the living room, and nodded.
He sat down on the sofa and said directly: "I have something to tell you."
Song Chengye turned off the TV, and both of them looked at him with inquiring expressions.
"My engagement with Gu Xinou," An Yi said clearly, "has been called off. There's no need to mention it anymore."
This left Song Chengye and Lin Wan stunned, their faces filled with surprise.
"Called... called off?"
Lin Wan was the first to react, her voice urgent and worried: "Why, Xiao Yi? Is it... is it because Xinou bullied you? Did he say something to you?"
She instinctively assumed it was Gu Xinou's fault.
An Yi shook his head: "No, he didn't do anything. I was the one who called off the engagement."
"Then why?"
Song Chengye frowned deeply, his tone serious and puzzled: "When you went to see him before, weren't you very happy? Why this sudden decision to break off the engagement?"
He remembered the light that had instantly lit up An Yi's eyes when he first learned that his engagement partner was Gu Xinou. Though brief, he had seen it.
An Yi looked at Song Chengye: "That was then, this is now."
He paused and gave a simple reason: "Simply put, I don't like him anymore."
The reason was too straightforward, but it was effective. Matters of the heart truly cannot be forced, especially for the child they had wronged.
Song Chengye and Lin Wan exchanged glances, both seeing complex emotions in each other's eyes.
Finally, Song Chengye spoke slowly: "Since it's your own decision... let it be."
Before An Yi came back, although there had been an oral agreement between the Song and Gu families, Song Xinghai and Gu Xinou had never entertained the idea, so they hadn't taken it seriously and never brought it up.
Now that An Yi wasn't interested in Gu Xinou either, it was best to let the engagement go.
It wouldn't make sense for them to brush it off when Song Xinghai wasn't interested, only to insist on upholding it when it came to An Yi. That was unreasonable.
Lin Wan quickly nodded in agreement, though there was still some regret in her eyes: "That's right, Xiao Yi. Your own happiness matters most. If you don't like him, that's fine. Mom supports you."
An Yi wasn't surprised by their response. He just smiled faintly, took the chicken soup, had a few sips, and said, "Mm, I'm going upstairs."
