Chapter 299: The Seventh Day of Entering the ABO World
An Yi looked at Wei Yang before him, his tone calm, like an elder advising a naive junior: "Wei Yang."
His voice was gentle: "A momentary impulse and surface-level attraction cannot truly be called love. Perhaps you're just fooled by appearances and can't see what's really there."
He paused, his gaze sweeping over Wei Yang's slightly damp bangs, the youthful, vibrant energy radiating off him: "Go back, focus on your studies. At this stage, that's the most important thing for you."
After saying this, he subtly glanced once more at the shrubbery where An Xuan was hiding. Though his gaze was faint, it sent a chill down An Xuan's spine, nearly making him let out a yelp.
Then, An Yi gave Wei Yang no further chance to confess or argue.
He nodded slightly at Wei Yang, signaling the end of this sudden conversation, then cast a look at his assistant waiting beside him. He opened the car door, bent down, and slid into the back seat.
"Mr. An!" Wei Yang instinctively stepped forward, wanting to say more, but the assistant stepped in, politely blocking him.
"Excuse me, please stay back," the assistant's voice rang out.
"Bang."
The car door closed, and Wei Yang could only watch helplessly as the black sedan smoothly merged onto the campus road, quickly disappearing from sight, leaving only a faint smell of exhaust in the air.
He stood frozen in place, clenching his fists. It was fine—he had been prepared for this.
A stranger who had witnessed the entire scene walked past Wei Yang, stopped, winked at him, then gave a thumbs-up with a tone of awe and admiration: "Impressive, buddy! Daring to confess to CEO An like that! That takes guts!"
Comments section:
"Ahhh, rejected!"
"Wei Yang, don't lose heart! This is just the first round! The road to pursuing your man is bound to be full of thorns!"
"I told you he's younger! @Author!"
"An Yi: You're just impulsive. Wei Yang: No! I'm serious!"
"Assistant guy: Hands off my boss! Protect CEO An! (Pay raise.jpg)"
[The passing student's 'Impressive' is the cherry on top! Wei Yang's gonna be famous at school now!]
"An Yi's last glance at the bushes! I bet five bucks An Xuan's gonna get an earful when he gets back!"
[Only I think An Yi didn't shut the door completely? 'A momentary impulse'—does that mean if it weren't impulsive, it might be possible? If you round that up, there's hope! Round it up again, and they're basically married! (Serious face.jpg)]
"You're way too good at that math."
"..."
The car drove away from campus, merging into traffic.
An Yi leaned against the soft backrest of the rear seat, closing his eyes, the lights and shadows from outside flickering across his face.
He was thinking that An Xuan, that kid, had gotten cocky, hiding in the bushes to watch the show, and even helping him out. He'd have to have a serious talk with him later.
Sure enough, that night, after handling company affairs and just finishing his bath, ready to rest, An Yi's phone on the nightstand lit up, showing a WeChat message.
From An Xuan.
Tapping it open, the message was carefully worded:
[Second brother, dear second brother, um, this afternoon... Wei Yang... he didn't say anything out of line, did he? (Cold sweat.jpg)]
An Yi looked at the message, almost instantly able to picture An Xuan on the other end, scratching his head and squirming.
A slight smile tugged at his lips. He typed a reply slowly, turning the question back on him:
[Didn't you see it yourself?]
[What do you think?]
Those three words packed a punch.
An Xuan immediately reacted like a cat with its tail stepped on, sending a flood of cartoon emojis of him kneeling, begging, and crying, desperately trying to cover his own ass:
[Second brother, I'm wrong! I'm really wrong! I didn't think he'd be that bold! He just charged right in! I just... he kept pestering me, so I, like, barely pointed him in the right direction... I swear! He's the one to blame!]
An Yi looked at this desperate attempt to pass the buck, unsurprised, and too lazy to dig into how much An Xuan actually helped.
He was more focused on what came next, so he skipped An Xuan's groveling and replied with a laugh:
[No worries. We'll talk when you get back.]
After sending this, An Xuan's side showed "typing..." for over a full minute, the cursor blinking on and off, showing exactly how torn he was.
Finally, he replied, dragging it out:
[I'm your cute little brother~~ muah-3-]
An Yi: ...
After a while, the other side hesitantly sent a few more messages:
[...Um, Wei Yang came back all hyped up, said he fell for you at first sight and won't give up, kept bugging me for your WeChat and number...]
The text paused there, then added another line:
[Second brother, you... what's the plan? Should I give it to him or not?]
An Yi looked at the question on the screen, his expression completely calm. He didn't even hesitate, just typed out two words:
[Don't give.]
The message sent successfully.
He could already picture the crushed look on that kid's face when An Xuan relayed this result to Wei Yang.
But that wasn't his problem.
He put down his phone, put it on silent, and ignored whatever messages came next.
The warm glow of the bedside lamp washed over him. He grabbed a book nearby and got lost in it, pushing everything else out of his mind.
Life went on as usual.
An Yi handled company business methodically while also starting to gradually hand off some tasks to An Xuan, who came in every week to learn.
Even though An Xuan complained nonstop, under his brother's calm stare, he had no choice but to suck it up and push through.
One day, An Xuan once again walked into An Yi's office with a grim face, to do his daily "carrying on the family business" routine.
After reporting on his work, he didn't leave right away but lingered, pulling a small square box from his backpack and setting it on An Yi's desk.
"Brother, this... is something Wei Yang asked me to give you." An Xuan's voice was a little shaky, his gaze drifting, not daring to meet An Yi's eyes.
An Yi looked up, his eyes landing on the small box, one eyebrow raised slightly: "Aren't you helpful?"
An Xuan scratched his head: "Heh heh, what can I say? I'm just too nice for my own good."
He went on, his tone carrying a hint of resignation and a touch of admiration for his roommate's stubbornness: "He said... it's an apology gift, for the way he barged in on you last time. He also said he made it himself, that it's nothing fancy, just a little something to show he cares... and he insisted I deliver it."
