Chapter 331: The Tenth Day in the Entertainment World
Chapter 331: The Tenth Day in the Entertainment World
The following day, An Yi walked into the Sparkle Star Entertainment building.
Unlike last time, Deng Yingrui was already waiting for him in the lobby. The moment he saw An Yi, he scurried over like a lapdog spotting its master, a sycophantic grin plastered across his face.
"Boss, you're here," he said. "There's... there's a gig I thought you might wanna check out."
An Yi didn't slow down, just tilting his head a bit to shoot him a questioning look.
His expression stayed gentle, like warm spring sunshine, but Deng Yingrui couldn't help tensing up.
"It's a reality show," Deng Yingrui said, following closely at his heels while presenting a tablet with both hands, the show's info page displayed on screen. "It's called *Love Relativity*—the top-tier S+ dating show on the market right now, both in production value and viewership. The production team reached out to us."
Originally, the invite had gone to Film King Cang, but they figured this show might be a good way to suck up to An Yi.
The show had massive traffic and was a fast track to boosting your profile.
He went on, "This is a killer opportunity! Everyone on it brings major star power, and if you do well, you'll rack up tons of fans! Even if you're aiming for the music scene, a solid fan base is key..."
An Yi took the tablet, his eyes landing on the screen.
The stylized title *Love Relativity* jumped right out at him.
He quickly skimmed the show's synopsis, projected popularity stats, and the proposed guest list.
When he spotted Cang Xingjin's name right there on the list, his long, thick lashes fluttered slightly. Then, a smile he couldn't quite hold back tugged at his lips, so dazzling it seemed to dim the room.
"*Love Relativity*?" he murmured, repeating the name. "So it's this one."
He looked at Deng Yingrui. "Looks like I wasn't invited."
Deng Yingrui didn't dare lie: "Besides the people on the list—who aren't confirmed yet—there are still two open spots. They just need photos. That's a no-brainer for you, right?"
Besides, even if he didn't get picked, if An Yi wanted in, couldn't he just get on the show whenever he felt like it?
Who was he trying to fool?!
And honestly, with a face like An Yi's, how could he not make the cut?
He couldn't help thinking An Yi was getting better-looking every day... and with those moves of his, was he possessed by some kind of ghost?
An Yi looked at Deng Yingrui, who was nervously waiting for his reaction, and his smile widened a little, like cracks spreading across ice with light glinting through: "Interesting. Submit it and let's see what happens."
Joining a dating show and... getting a front-row seat to the male and female leads' romantic drama also sounded fun.
A few days later, in a different city.
Cang Xingjin had just wrapped a high-end endorsement shoot. He leaned back on the couch, exhausted, eyes closed to rest.
His manager, Sister Pan, walked over with a tablet, looking a bit conflicted.
"Xingjin, the final guest list for *Love Relativity* is out."
She handed him the tablet. "Our company... besides you, there's one other person."
Cang Xingjin opened his eyes, took the tablet, and scanned the list.
When he saw the name "An Yi," his fingers tightened on the tablet for a second.
The image of that figure he'd caught a glimpse of in the company hallway not long ago flashed through his mind.
That face—it really had a striking beauty you couldn't forget.
Even for Cang Xingjin, who'd seen every kind of beauty in the industry, his heart had skipped a beat in that moment.
But then, his brows knitted together.
After that day, out of a curiosity he couldn't quite explain, he'd had Sister Pan do a quick background check on this artist named An Yi.
What she found: a former member of a disbanded group, with terrible resources after the split, basically shelved, and recently in even worse shape after allegedly ticking off some investor over a casting couch situation.
How could someone so unknown in the industry suddenly land a top-tier gig like *Love Relativity*?
Also, Sister Pan had previously thought about taking An Yi under her wing because of his looks, but the higher-ups politely declined, saying "the artist already has plans."
Word was... someone upstairs had put in a good word.
Someone upstairs?
Cang Xingjin's gaze darkened.
In the glitzy, glamorous entertainment world, the phrase "someone upstairs" often came with unsavory implications.
Could it be... that the boy who looked so clean and pure, so stunningly out of this world, had finally given in to temptation and taken the "shortcut" he most looked down on?
At that thought, a wave of inexplicable irritation and disappointment washed over him.
He pressed his lips together. The faint flutter from that brief glimpse cooled off fast, fading into outright disinterest.
"Got it." He handed the tablet back to Sister Pan, his voice back to its usual cold tone. "The show doesn't start filming for another month. We'll go over the schedule and details then."
Sister Pan studied his expression and probed carefully, "Since you're from the same company, how about I set up a meeting before filming so you two can get familiar? That way—"
"No need." Cang Xingjin cut her off, his tone stiffer than he even realized.
He stood up, grabbing his jacket off the couch: "I'm tired. Let's head back."
He didn't know why, but he just felt annoyed.
Meanwhile, An Yi hadn't even given Cang Xingjin a second thought.
After signing the contract for *Love Relativity*, he'd put it out of his mind and dove back into his own world of music.
The next month or so passed quietly and productively.
An Yi spent most of his time at home, greedily soaking up this world's musical knowledge.
From pop to classical, from electronic soundscapes to folk instruments, he was like a dry sponge, quickly absorbing and mastering this world's musical systems and styles.
At the same time, he kept comparing, blending, and innovating, mixing in what he'd encountered in the worlds he'd traveled through before.
Ethereal chants from fantasy realms, modern electronic symphonies, ancient silk-and-bamboo tunes, apocalyptic anthems of courage... Musical elements from different civilizations and dimensions collided and wove together in his mind, sparking his creativity.
Occasionally, he'd catch snippets of comment-section chatter, always about how the original female lead, Ruan Bingxuan, was fighting the shady company with wit and grit, struggling to break her contract.
An Yi would occasionally glance online and see related topics trending, with lots of people rallying behind the tough small-town girl.
He'd look, then move on. His focus was more on how to express the feelings and insights he'd gathered across different worlds through this world's musical language.
That would be something completely new and one of a kind.
