Chapter 52: The Fourth Day of Transmigrating into a Doomsday Supernatural Novel

Comments section:

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!"

"Qingqing is so hot! So hot she rocks the sky!"

"So hyped! So hyped!"

"This flame! This aura! Queen Ji Qin totally slays me!"

"See that? That's my destined wife! (frantically cheering) (shyly hiding face) (shooting heart lasers) (blowing kisses)"

"Up there, what are you babbling about? Ji Qin is obviously in my bed, tucking me in! (hands on hips, angry)"

"Stop arguing, stop arguing, we're all adults here! Grow up! The wife is everyone's! (dog face, just kidding)"

"...... (knocked out by the hotness, can't even type)"

"......"

An Yi gave a subtle smile. The comments section... what an old friend!

Could this be his system, then?

Ji Qin lowered her hand with a sharp, neat motion, her gaze sweeping over the crowd's startled, dust-covered faces.

The corner of her mouth curled into a bold arc. She pressed her fingertips to her lips and blew a clear, sharp whistle: "A few of you, come over and help. There are quite a few people here, and several ability users."

With that, she jumped down from the broken wall, landing silently, her movements as agile as a hunting leopard.

She looked at Weng Daixuan, who was clearly the main pillar of this group: "Are you the leader of these people?"

Weng Daixuan instinctively tensed, maintaining high alert. She raised a hand, wiping the blood from her lips with a mud-stained sleeve: "Who are you?"

Ji Qin ran a hand over her crew cut: "Don't be nervous. I'm Ji Qin, the head of the Liaoyuan Fort safe zone."

She grinned—an open, honest smile. Though her movements carried a hint of outlaw swagger, it strangely didn't come off as rude, instead radiating a forthright kind of strength.

"Liaoyuan Fort?!"

"I think I've heard of it..."

Seeing the chatter, Ji Qin tapped her forehead in mild exasperation. Her gaze locked onto Weng Daixuan again: "I'm asking you, are you the leader or not?"

Weng Daixuan recalled briefly, the name "Liaoyuan Fort" stirred a vague memory of scattered rumors. After hesitating a few seconds, she met Ji Qin's gaze.

In the brief exchange, once she confirmed the other party only wanted to know the team's size and the number of ability users, she relaxed a bit.

Originally, they'd been heading to another safe base. But since Ji Qin had saved them and she was clearly so strong, perhaps going to Liaoyuan Fort wouldn't be a bad choice.

So, when Ji Qin asked, she picked and chose what to share about their situation.

After communicating with Ji Qin, Weng Daixuan returned to the group and announced the decision to change course.

Objections immediately arose.

Someone didn't understand: "Why? Weren't we going to the Fifth Base?"

"Yeah, this Liaoyuan Fort can't be safer than the Fifth Base, right?"

"It was all settled. Why the sudden change?"

"We've already come this far. Changing course now, what's that about?"

Weng Daixuan shot a cold look at the few who complained: "You're free to leave and head to the Fifth Base on your own."

She was kind-hearted and willing to protect everyone to a safe base, but she had her limits—especially with people who only knew how to moan and demand. She didn't care whether they stayed or left.

The grumblers clammed up, faces turning red. Without powers, who'd dare to travel alone?

So, everyone who was still alive followed Ji Qin away from the ruins.

An Yi walked at the very back of the line, his gaze lingering on Ji Qin ahead before he looked away just before she noticed.

In this life, following this female lead who was destined to burn away the source of the apocalypse seemed like a wise choice.

At least, way better than an idiot protagonist like Du Guyuan. A faint smile flickered across his lips.

"Chief, you're back."

Ji Qin smirked and hummed in acknowledgement. Thumbs up, she pointed behind her: "New members joining us. Make arrangements."

"Yes."

"Speed it up!"

"Got it!"

Several large, roughly modified off-road vehicles and trucks, their thick steel plates giving them a tough look, came into view.

Under Weng Daixuan's organization, the survivors, with a mix of novelty and unease, climbed into the truck beds in an orderly fashion.

An Yi picked a spot near the tailgate, perfect for keeping an eye out, and sat down.

"Move out!" came the command from outside.

As the words fell, there was a dull "thump" from the roof. A tall man in dark tactical gear, practically crackling with explosive power, vaulted off the roof like a human beast.

He reached out, grabbed the edge of the truck bed, stretched his long arms and swung himself in, bringing a gust of wind: "Go!"

The driver, already prepared, immediately turned the steering wheel. The sudden momentum sent the unsuspecting survivors stumbling and yelling every which way.

An Yi's body was also thrown toward the man who had just boarded. Just as it seemed he would crash into him, An Yi's core instantly tightened. His feet planted firmly on the truck floor, he slammed his feet down, stopping himself at the last second. His shoulder just grazed the man's rock-solid arm.

The man noticed An Yi's movement and raised an eyebrow: "Nice balance? You train?"

He studied the slender young man with interest, who seemed somewhat slender but possessed an unusually calm demeanor.

An Yi smiled faintly, looking perfectly calm: "I trained a bit, just for fun. No big deal."

It wasn't a lie. He had indeed trained—but the moves he'd learned from Ge Lian in his past life were all lethal techniques. Back when he was Chief Grand Secretary, he never needed them. Now, in the apocalypse, they finally came in handy.

Ji Zishi threw An Yi a glance, then looked away with a noncommittal "Mm," and didn't pursue the matter further.

He picked up the walkie-talkie at his waist, rapidly coordinating the escape route and next steps with Ji Qin.

After handling things, he looked down at An Yi by the edge. Seeing that the other scooted inward a bit to make room, he unceremoniously plopped down next to him without a second thought.

Fortunately, there were not many people in the vehicle, and the gaps between them were still quite large.

Maybe it was because An Yi was so calm, unlike the others who had just escaped disaster. Ji Zishi, who had been vigilantly watching the situation outside the vehicle, found himself looking back at An Yi again.

This time, he unexpectedly locked eyes with An Yi, whose beautiful eyes were as calm as a deep pool. Ji Zishi's heart skipped a beat, and he blurted out, "Aren't you scared?"

"Scared."

An Yi replied briefly. Scared? A little, but not really.

The convoy sped wildly along the desolate, ruined road, kicking up clouds of dust. The vehicle jolted violently, and the jolts brought them closer together without them realizing it.

Ji Zishi turned sideways, moving a little closer to An Yi: "But you don't look scared at all."

An Yi met his gaze, a slight curve returning to his lips: "Everyone expresses their emotions differently."
