Chapter 7: Into Long Aotian’s World, Day 7
Chapter 7: Day Seven of Transmigrating into a Long Aotian Story
An Yi already knew he had to refuse Du Guyuan.
But he had to say no—just not too bluntly.
So An Yi replied, “I’ve heard a thing or two.”
The comment section buzzed in his ears, and as he listened to their words, he almost burst out laughing.
He quickly schooled his face, not letting Du Guyuan see anything wrong.
Du Guyuan, hearing An Yi’s response, began to speak passionately, eloquently, spraying spittle, painting a dazzling picture of the cooperation prospects, as if just a nod from An Yi would land him right on the Forbes list by tomorrow.
An Yi’s eyes wandered as he focused on the comments.
“This guy’s rambling on and on—he must be the second male lead!”
“Definitely gonna get slapped down later!!”
“Feels kinda cliché. Same old, same old!”
“Don’t like it, don’t read!”
“Did the author never learn Chinese? It’s either a sinister smirk or a cold stare. When is the protagonist gonna get a face cramp or something?!”
“I haven’t even read a few chapters, and the male lead has already pulled that sinister smirk over twenty times!!”
“The content’s not bad, and the writing’s decent, but how many love interests are there??”
“You call this decent writing??”
......
Du Guyuan said, his face full of confidence, “So, Chairman An, how about it? Want to cooperate?”
Du Guyuan’s assured voice snapped An Yi back to attention. It seemed he believed that with his gift of gab, An Yi would definitely go along with him.
An Yi kept a straight face, a faint smile playing on his lips: “Sounds... promising and exciting, no doubt.”
The smug curve of Du Guyuan’s lips was just about to widen when An Yi’s tone shifted, as flat as if he were discussing what to have for lunch:
“How about this, Mr. Du? Can you send me a detailed proposal first? Our folks will look it over, and then we’ll get back to you. What do you think?”
Du Guyuan stood there, stunned.
The smile on his face instantly froze.
P-proposal?!
He had been speaking with such passion and vivid detail, practically shoving a “windfall fortune” right into An Yi’s mouth—and An Yi was asking for a proposal?!
Did that make sense??
Was An Yi out of his mind??
Or was he just messing with him?
Du Guyuan’s face turned beet red, and he ground out through gritted teeth: “I don’t have one!”
An Yi raised an eyebrow at just the right moment, putting on a slightly troubled look, and drew out his tone: “Ah... well... hmm...”
He spread his hands, feigning difficulty: “Mr. Du, that puts me in a tough spot. Without a proposal, without specific plans and risk assessments, how can I explain this to the board and my colleagues? I can’t just greenlight a project this big on empty promises, can I?”
“Or... do you have any other written documents to support your grand vision?”
Du Guyuan suddenly stood up: “Chairman An! Isn’t the prospect compelling enough for you?”
“Or could it be...”
An Yi smiled genially, waving his hand: “Please, have a seat! Take it easy, Mr. Du.”
“We need to follow procedure, right? It’s better for everyone, don’t you think?”
“How about this—once you’ve prepared a complete proposal, we’ll sit down and discuss it in detail. Sound good?”
Du Guyuan snorted coldly: “Since Chairman An is so insincere, there’s nothing more to discuss!”
He flung his hand sharply and, with his equally grim-faced driver who looked like death warmed over, stormed out, slamming the door behind him.
The door to the meeting room crashed shut with a bang, shaking the air.
Li Xuan, standing beside An Yi, had watched the whole scene unfold, completely stunned.
He opened his mouth, uncharacteristically at a loss: “Chairman An... this Mr. Du, is he...”
An Yi nodded expressionlessly, finishing his sentence for him: “Yeah, got a few screws loose. Cut him some slack—probably came off the assembly line with his settings messed up.”
Li Xuan’s mouth twitched violently, but he maintained his professionalism, succinctly agreeing: “...You’re right!”
An Yi sighed. It seemed he couldn’t avoid it—the plot was self-correcting?
Today was just pure chaos.
All just to give the male lead an excuse to come after him.
An Yi stood by the window, looking down at the street.
He glanced at the two figures already outside the company gate: “Whatever. I’ll deal with it when it comes.”
“There’s always a way.”
“After all, with Du Guyuan’s pea-sized brain, the trouble he can cause is limited.”
An Yi turned: “Let’s go. Back to the office!”
Li Xuan: “Understood.” He quietly gave his boss a mental thumbs-up.
Comment section:
“...”
“...”
“The male lead is an idiot!”
“No, the male lead isn’t an idiot—the author’s the idiot!”
“No, the author wrote this novel with their toes!”
“I'm dying laughing!”
"Guys, I can't take it anymore—this is too damn awkward!!"
"No way! No way! Who actually reads novels with their brain switched on, right?"
"Fresh and novel—it makes me feel confident in my own IQ in this book!!!"
"I'm just gonna slap a one-star review on this sh*t!!"
"I'm different though—I give it six stars!"
"The writing is a bit over-the-top, but it fits the book's moronic vibe!!"
"Hahahahahaha (insert a hundred ha's here)!!!"
"Why does this villain feel like a normal person?"
"Not just that—that security guard is also clear-headed!!"
"In a book like this, normal people don't last long!!"
"Come on, come on! Place your bets: how long until this villain dies?"
"Betting's open! Bet on which chapter Chairman An bites the dust? I say within ten chapters!"
"I bet five chapters!!"
"Three chapters! No more than that!"
......
An Yi's face darkened.
"You can't talk right, can you?"
"If you can't, then keep your mouth shut!"
"Hmph!!"
-------------
Du Guyuan walked out of the gate with his driver, took one look back, and returned to the car, his face grim.
As the driver drove away, he fanned the flames indignantly: "BOSS, that An Yi really doesn't know what's good for him!"
"We came to visit politely, and he made you wait that long!!"
"He didn't even come out to greet us—he's obviously looking down on us!!"
Du Guyuan's face darkened and he cut him off: "That's enough! Shut up!!"
"He'll pay for this!!"
The driver pulled onto the road and happened to spot the young security guard who'd stopped them earlier.
As if sensing something, the security guard turned and looked over.
A malicious grin twisted the driver's face, and he raised his hand to slash across his throat, as if to say, "Just you wait!!"
Security guard: "..."
He stared expressionlessly at the car's taillights disappearing into the distance and spat loudly: "Ptui! Two nutjobs! What a disgrace!"
The driver drove Du Guyuan toward his bar.
After suffering such a huge humiliation today, Du Guyuan should, by any logic, go to the bar to drown his sorrows.
Although it was still morning, who says he can't party from morning till the next morning?
