Chapter 108: Becoming Your God (XI)
Shang Ke’s mask fit his face perfectly, but it was not fused to him, so there should still be a way to remove it. He simply hadn’t found the method yet—or perhaps his level wasn’t high enough.
Shang Ke looked down at his naked body and tried to conjure some clothes. Specks of starlight swirled around him before gathering at his waist and transforming into a bright and beautiful… animal-hide skirt.
The original form of a divine idol determined the original form of an embodied god. When Shang Ke condensed a physical body, his mask, hammer, and animal-hide skirt became fixed equipment attached to him as constructs of energy. The Evil God’s skirt was made from the hide of some ancient ferocious beast, black with golden patterns, impervious to both fire and water, and a symbol of strength and authority.
However grand and impressive that description sounded, it still couldn’t change the fact that it was nothing more than an animal-hide skirt.
The animal-hide skirt around Shang Ke’s waist seemed to sense its master’s disdain and dissatisfaction. After fluttering a few times, it quietly vanished again, leaving Shang Ke completely naked with his cock swinging free.
While Shang Ke was absorbed in studying his new body, a figure silently appeared not far behind him.
The War God had sensed fluctuations in Shang Ke’s divine power and knew he had recovered, so he teleported over from the royal capital. What he hadn’t expected to see was Shang Ke transformed into an embodied god.
Divine spirits possessed divine power but no physical bodies. Only after acquiring enough emotion and desire could they transform into embodied gods. However, becoming embodied did not necessarily make a god stronger. Shang Ke, at least, was certainly no stronger because of it.
The War God didn’t know why Shang Ke had been able to become an embodied god, but seeing him with a physical body stirred a strange feeling within him.
Shang Ke hovered above the center of the azure lake, facing the setting sun. His bronze skin gleamed golden beneath the evening light. His perfectly proportioned body and evenly defined muscles radiated strength and vitality, yet there was also an indescribable sexiness about him that made it impossible to look away.
The look in the War God’s eyes gradually deepened. His overwhelming divine pressure unconsciously spread outward, forming a cage around Shang Ke and binding him in place.
Shang Ke suddenly found himself unable to move. He turned his head, but before he could get a clear look, the figure who had been standing by the lake was already right in front of him.
“Saya?” Shang Ke stared at the man before him. Even at his current height, he was still more than half a head shorter than Saya, and his build wasn’t as imposing.
Shang Ke asked suspiciously, “Saya, have you gotten fatter in the few days since I last saw you?”
Saya: “…”
Shang Ke gestured between the two of them. “I was obviously only a tiny bit shorter than you before. How did the difference get this big?” (﹁”﹁) “Don’t tell me you deliberately made yourself bigger just so you could surpass me?”
Saya said nothing. His gaze merely slid downward, all the way to Shang Ke’s exposed crotch, before one eyebrow rose almost imperceptibly. Shang Ke had no idea what that was supposed to mean, but it pissed him off anyway.
He flicked a finger and summoned his animal-hide skirt again, blocking a certain someone’s scrutinizing gaze.
The animal-hide skirt fluttered loosely around his waist, provoking a powerful urge to rip it right back off.
Saya’s gaze lingered on Shang Ke’s skirt for a long while, then traced over his thighs before sweeping upward across his chest and abdomen, collarbones, and Adam’s apple, finally settling on his mask.
He slowly reached out, pinched the edge of the mask, and made his second attempt to remove it.
Shang Ke remained perfectly still. “It’s useless. It…”
Before he could finish speaking, there was a soft click, and the mask actually came off his face! The mask that Shang Ke himself couldn’t remove had been taken off effortlessly by the man in front of him! This made no fucking sense!
Saya held the mask in one hand and stared unblinkingly at Shang Ke, a strange light flickering in his eyes.
Saya’s stare was starting to make Shang Ke uneasy. He couldn’t help touching his own face. He was quite confident in his looks, but since he had never actually seen this face himself, he still felt a little uncertain. Who knew? Maybe this muscular body had somehow ended up with the face of a young girl.
Just as Shang Ke was about to use the lake as a mirror, Saya suddenly hooked one arm around his waist and used his other hand to put the mask back onto his face.
When Shang Ke tried to take it off himself, he discovered that the damn thing wouldn’t budge again!
Shang Ke: ( °□°)!
At least let me get one look!
“Saya, I think you put the mask on crooked. Help me adjust it.” Shang Ke looked at him with utter sincerity.
Saya examined it and said, “It looks fine. It isn’t crooked.”
“It’s on my face! If I say it’s crooked, then it’s crooked!”
Saya: “Then adjust it yourself.”
Shang Ke: (▔﹏▔) This guy definitely knows what I’m trying to do.
“Come back to the royal capital with me,” Saya said. “The Shu Clan has decided to move there.”
“All of them?”
“Yes.” Saya looked toward Mount Ateya. “Their homes and fields were destroyed by the fire, so the Shu Clan has to rebuild. Living near a prosperous city will be far safer and more convenient than staying in these remote mountains.”
Shang Ke had no objection. According to the original course of history, the Shu Clan should have moved to the royal capital half a year ago. His arrival had made their life on Mount Ateya so comfortable that their relocation had been delayed.
If not for that delay, they probably wouldn’t have come into conflict with the Fire God’s worshipers and drawn this undeserved disaster upon themselves. Fortunately, no one had been killed or injured. Otherwise, Shang Ke definitely wouldn’t have let the Fire God off.
At that thought, Shang Ke suddenly realized that a thousand years ago, the Evil God had possessed far more enemies than just the War God and the Fire God. Counting gods both great and small, there had been at least a dozen. Some had already fallen, but all those who remained were far stronger than they had been in the past. A single Fire God had nearly managed to seal him. If several more came after him at once, he would truly be in danger.
Those gods now each held dominion over their own territories. Although none were as powerful as the War God, they still couldn’t be underestimated.
Shang Ke looked toward Saya. He had initially wanted to ask for help, but in the end, he said nothing. He had a mission to complete, and the greater the danger, the better his chances of completing it. He wasn’t afraid of making enemies, but he had to become stronger himself. His own strength was what would determine whether he could survive a death mission.
Shang Ke returned to his spirit form and escorted the Shu Clan all the way to Kanse City. Although Saya never showed himself, he secretly kept watch over them as well, guarding against sneak attacks from other gods.
Saya understood perfectly well what a terrifying existence the Evil God was in the eyes of those other gods. No matter what happened, they would never willingly allow him the chance to regain his strength. If this were still the Evil God of the past, Saya would not have hesitated in the slightest. But the Evil God of today seemed to have been reborn entirely—warm, cheerful, rational, and deeply protective of his people. He was even willing to exhaust his divine power for them and endure the suffering of their illnesses. He had never deliberately harmed anyone. If anything, he was the one who kept getting bullied by other gods.
Saya had no desire to hurt an Evil God like this. He only wanted to keep him by his side and take good care of him.
Hmm. It seems I haven’t seen him for another forty hours. I should go take a look.
Following Shang Ke’s aura, Saya arrived at the Shu Clan’s residence and discovered him sitting together with Yitamo. The two were extremely close, their posture uncomfortably intimate.
Shang Ke was dressed in an exquisite set of clothes. He leaned slightly forward, bringing his face close to Yitamo’s.
Yitamo had his head lowered and was cupping Shang Ke’s face in both hands, looking for all the world as though he intended to kiss him.
Saya’s gaze sharpened, and his divine pressure erupted without warning.
Yitamo suddenly felt his hands close on empty air. Shang Ke, who had been sitting beside him only a moment ago, vanished without warning, leaving nothing behind but a pile of clothing scattered across the ground.
Shang Ke’s embodied divine form was not yet stable enough. Under the force of Saya’s divine pressure, it shattered almost instantly.
Without anyone teaching him, Saya had somehow mastered the ultimate art of instantaneous stripping. Before Shang Ke could defend himself, he had been stripped completely bare.
“Uno?” Yitamo stood alone in the suddenly empty courtyard, looking around in confusion.
“Saya, what are you doing?” Shang Ke had been inexplicably dragged all the way to the War God’s temple and couldn’t help grumbling inwardly.
Saya countered, “What were you and Yitamo doing?”
“He was curious about what I look like, so I was letting him take off my mask.”
“You’re not allowed to take it off!” Saya ordered.
“Why not?” Shang Ke merely wanted to experiment and find out whether anyone could remove his mask or if only certain people were able to do it.
“You’re very ugly. Mortals will have nightmares if they see you,” Saya declared with absolute certainty.
Shang Ke: “…” If I didn’t have the System’s buffs, I might actually have believed him.
Saya emphasized his point. “You’re the Evil God. You naturally have a vicious-looking face. If mortals see your true appearance, it will inevitably damage the image you worked so hard to establish.”
Shang Ke: (〒︿〒) Why do you have to slander me like this…?
“So don’t casually show your face in front of mortals,” Saya concluded.
“If I can’t show my face to mortals, then I’ll go find Neil.” Neil was also an embodied god. Surely the two of them would have something in common.
The moment those words left his mouth, divine pressure laced with blazing anger crashed into him, firmly immobilizing him.
“Uno.” Saya stopped directly in front of Shang Ke and enunciated every word. “Other than me, you are not allowed to remove your mask in front of any mortal or god.”
Shang Ke stared silently at the man before him, whose mood could change at the drop of a hat.
Saya reached out and slowly removed Shang Ke’s mask. His fingers brushed over Shang Ke’s brows and the corners of his eyes as he said in a low voice, “Uno, I will protect you. But you must obey me.”
“Even if you make outrageous demands of me?” Shang Ke asked.
“Yes.” Saya’s tone was forceful and absolute. “I will become your only god. No matter how strong you become in the future, I will always be stronger than you. I will always be above you.”
“Why?” Shang Ke stared deeply into his eyes. “Why me?”
Under Shang Ke’s unwavering gaze, Saya’s spirit body began to ripple slightly. Some kind of power surged violently within him before gradually condensing into substance. The armor covering him faded away, revealing a powerful, muscular body packed with explosive strength as a wave of scorching heat washed over Shang Ke.
Shang Ke stared at him in astonishment. Saya had actually transformed into an embodied god right before his eyes!
