Chapter 146: I Am An Evil Pen (III)

To Wen Jingrong’s disappointment, although the person before him had facial features this time, his face seemed veiled beneath a thin layer of gauze, indistinct and impossible to see clearly. Wen Jingrong reached out and carefully traced his face—brows, eyes, nose, lips… Warm breath brushed over his fingertips, and everything felt astonishingly real. He could sketch the man’s features in his mind, yet still could not imagine the unique charm of his expression.

Shang Ke was tickled by his touch and could not help laughing.

“What are you laughing at?” For some reason, merely hearing that laughter improved Wen Jingrong’s mood.

Shang Ke was just about to answer when the surroundings began to tremble. He immediately realized he was probably about to be pushed out of the dream again.

“Wait!” Wen Jingrong reached for him, only to grasp empty air.

Only a clear, lilting voice remained in his consciousness: “Could you practice your dreaming skills a little more next time?”

Practice my dreaming skills? Wen Jingrong sat on the bed and looked at the dawn breaking beyond the window, the corners of his lips lifting slightly. Although he still had not seen the man clearly, he now had a rough impression of his appearance—and he had finally heard his voice.

A moment later, Wen Jingrong schooled his expression again. Why was he getting so excited over being attracted to an imaginary person from a dream?

He threw back the covers and strode into the bathroom.

Shang Ke floated in midair. Entering the dream this time had been far easier than his first attempt, proving that his recent cultivation had been effective. Once he converted all of his accumulated baleful energy into spiritual power, perhaps he would even be able to condense a physical body.

As usual, Shang Ke hung from Wen Jingrong’s sleeve and followed him to work. Wen Jingrong’s businesses spanned the globe and covered numerous industries. He was entirely self-made. Although he could not compare in inherited wealth with long-established families, his abilities were exceptional and his business instincts remarkably sharp. He made money as though riding a rocket straight into the sky.

But his forceful personality and ruthless methods made his competitors deeply wary, and there was no telling how many people wanted him dead. So far, however, none had succeeded. Wen Jingrong himself was highly capable in combat, maintained good relationships with numerous senior government officials, and paid an astronomical amount in taxes every year. More importantly, he focused solely on business and never used his wealth to manipulate government policy. Those points alone were enough to earn him considerable government support.

If Shang Ke wanted to complete his mission, the easiest path would be to borrow Wen Jingrong’s power. With the number of businesses under his control, employing a thousand people should not be especially difficult. The problem was that most factories in this era had already become highly automated, leaving less and less demand for low-skilled labor. Without a specialized skill, a person could only start their own business or enter the service industry. Starting a business required capital, while many service jobs placed fairly high demands on appearance.

The thousand people specified by the mission had to be unemployed people, laid-off workers, veterans, or formerly incarcerated people. Apart from the veterans, most probably lacked specialized skills, and their appearances likely did not meet the usual standards either; otherwise, they would not have had so much difficulty finding work. Human-provided services were expensive in this era and were concentrated primarily in food and beverage, entertainment, health care, beauty, cleaning, and similar industries. Even cleaning, which required the least technical skill and placed the fewest demands on appearance, involved extremely strict character screening because workers had to enter clients’ homes and care for valuable belongings.

Before any of that, though, he first needed a physical body. As nothing more than an evil pen, all he could do was poke at paper.

Fortunately, Wen Jingrong stopped going on dates with other men and women, so Shang Ke also stopped deliberately causing trouble. He produced writing when he was supposed to and ink when ink was needed. In his spare time, he focused entirely on cultivation, planning to accumulate enough power for one perfect rendezvous in Wen Jingrong’s dreams.

Their third meeting really was different. Shang Ke discovered that the dreamscape had changed from an empty void into Wen Jingrong’s bedroom… How completely unimaginative. Couldn’t he at least come up with a floating fortress, a secluded paradise, some heavenly pleasure palace, or something?

Shang Ke wore a loose shirt with his long legs completely bare as he stood before the floor-to-ceiling window, bathed in sunlight.

Obviously, his current outfit came straight from Wen Jingrong’s imagination.

“You were right. Dreaming really does require some skill.” Wen Jingrong’s faintly pleased voice came from behind him.

Shang Ke slowly turned around, revealing his face clearly to Wen Jingrong for the first time.

Wen Jingrong had imagined this face countless times, but only now did he realize how pale every imagined version had been beside the real thing. He had seen countless beautiful people, yet none had ever stirred his heart like this man. Those clear eyes seemed to have been engraved somewhere deep within his memories long ago, only now awakening again. His brows, his eyes, his lips… every part of him seemed almost as though it had been made for Wen Jingrong.

Wen Jingrong’s heart began pounding beyond his control. With almost no hesitation, he pulled Shang Ke into his arms, lowered his head, and sealed their lips together without leaving the slightest space between them.

Things always developed absurdly fast in dreams. Before Shang Ke could react, he was already pressed down onto the bed, his loose shirt thoroughly disheveled. Wen Jingrong took him with impatient hunger. The exact actions seemed blurred and fragmented by the dream, appearing only in flashes, but the overwhelming pleasure was unmistakably real.

Shang Ke had no idea how long they had sex. Even after he left the dream, his spirit form still carried the lingering afterglow of their lovemaking.

Wasn’t this progressing way too fast? I didn’t even manage to say a single sentence—I spent the whole time moaning!

Shang Ke remained dumbfounded for a moment before discovering, to his astonishment, that he could now condense into human form even outside the dream. He was still only a spirit form, but the form itself was completely developed, down to his male anatomy.

What happened? Although he could now enter and leave dreams relatively freely, every visit usually consumed a considerable amount of power. This time, not only had he lost none, but his power had actually increased.

While Shang Ke was pondering this, Wen Jingrong also woke from the dream. Desire still lingered openly on his face, and the reaction of his body was even more obvious.

With a dark expression, Wen Jingrong walked into the bathroom. Soon afterward came the sound of running water and heavy, uneven breathing.

Shang Ke: “…”

He did not need to think very hard to understand. For a vigorous man like Wen Jingrong, a mere wet dream was obviously nowhere near enough to satisfy his deprived body.

Shang Ke’s thoughts abruptly stopped. Wait. Lust counts as baleful energy too, doesn’t it? That explained why his power had increased—inside the dream, he had absorbed the baleful energy generated by Wen Jingrong’s sexual desire.

The problem of finding a source of baleful energy had actually been solved just like that? As long as he had sex with his man in a dream every so often, he would never have to worry about running out of power again?

Shang Ke did not know whether to laugh or cry. A perfectly respectable evil pen was apparently destined to become a “lust pen” instead. Still, he was more than happy with the arrangement. He could eat his fill, enjoy himself at the same time, and avoid harming innocent people. Life could hardly get better.

From then on, things became simple. Shang Ke entered Wen Jingrong’s dreams once every three days. Wen Jingrong gradually mastered the essence of erotic dreaming as well, and the settings grew increasingly varied: bedroom to bathroom, garden to swimming pool, office to balcony, car to airplane… indoors, outdoors, even in the sky. If he could imagine it, apparently they could do it there.

However, this world was different from Ivan’s magical era. Back then, magic had allowed their erotic dreams to provide genuine physical satisfaction as well. Wen Jingrong, on the other hand, experienced pleasure only within the dream. Once he returned to reality, his body was left craving even more.

Then, two months later, the person who had appeared in his dreams every few days suddenly vanished. No matter what position Wen Jingrong slept in, he could no longer dream of him. The frustration made Wen Jingrong increasingly irritable, and his subordinates suffered right along with him.

After enduring it for two weeks, Wen Jingrong decided that before he completely exploded, he would find a bed partner and vent some of his pent-up desire. He had never considered a one-night stand before, but lately he was reaching the limits of his patience.

No matter how badly Wen Jingrong wanted the person from his dreams, a dream was still only a dream. It was not as though he had never tried having the man’s appearance drawn and secretly searching for him. But no matter how closely the people he found resembled that face, Wen Jingrong needed only one glance to know that something was wrong.

The driver glanced through the rearview mirror at his boss sitting gloomily in the back seat and could not help thinking, How does he look like a man going out to have fun? He looks like he’s on his way to wreck the place.

The car stopped outside an entertainment club. Wen Jingrong stepped out and was just about to follow an attendant inside when, from the corner of his eye, he caught sight of a familiar figure across the street.

His heart clenched. He immediately abandoned the attendant and hurried after the figure.

The man entered an underground passage, and Wen Jingrong followed without hesitation.

No matter how quickly Wen Jingrong moved, the distance between them remained neither far nor near. He followed the man through the underground passage, across several streets, onto the subway, and through the crowded train, closing the distance one step at a time.

The young man stood quietly amid the noisy crowd, gazing at the scenery beyond the window. His handsome profile seemed bathed in soft light, his eyes clear and his bearing elegant and tranquil. He gave off a sense of profound serenity that stood in stark contrast to the bustle around him.

Two flames of burning intensity ignited in Wen Jingrong’s eyes. His blood surged through his veins, and his fingers trembled uncontrollably with excitement.

Only when the train reached the next station and the young man was about to leave with the crowd did Wen Jingrong suddenly realize what he should be doing.

Catch him. Take him away. Make him mine, no matter the cost!

Yet when he rushed out of the train, the young man had already vanished. Wen Jingrong searched frantically but found nothing.

“Damn it!” Wen Jingrong clenched his fist and slammed it hard against the wall, unable to conceal the anger in his eyes.

It took him a long while to calm himself.

It doesn’t matter. As long as I know he really exists, I’ll definitely find him!

Having made up his mind, Wen Jingrong was preparing to head back when he discovered that his wallet was missing. He had no choice but to take out his phone and call his driver.

Wen Jingrong stood ramrod straight at the roadside like a statue, completely unconcerned that he had become the center of everyone’s attention.

Shang Ke drifted beside him in an incorporeal form and gloated inwardly, Just stand there and wait. It’s rush hour right now, and traffic is so jammed that even a dog couldn’t squeeze through. Your driver definitely won’t make it here for at least an hour or two.

One day earlier, Shang Ke had discovered that he could finally condense a physical body. He had officially evolved from a pen spirit into a pen demon, capable of appearing in human form for a limited period of time. Although he still could not stray too far from Wen Jingrong, remaining within a few kilometers posed no problem.

He had originally planned to surprise this man, only for Wen Jingrong to decide to go looking for a bed partner! Absolutely outrageous!

So Shang Ke had deliberately lured him away and hidden his wallet, all because he wanted to teach him a lesson.

Unfortunately, Shang Ke’s plan fell apart almost immediately. After waiting only a little over ten minutes, Wen Jingrong called the manager of a nearby branch office. Within minutes, a car came speeding over to collect the great president and comfortably whisk him away.

Shang Ke was thoroughly indignant and once again decided to postpone their official meeting. It worked out well enough—he still needed to gather information on possible occupations and prepare a plan for solving his Main Mission’s employment problem.
