Chapter 15: My Heart Beats For You (VI)
Jian Chenfeng kissed him as though he hadn’t kissed anyone in eight hundred years, attacking with almost predatory ferocity until Shang Ke could barely breathe. Just when Shang Ke felt him pull back slightly, Jian Chenfeng pressed down again the next second, thrusting his tongue even deeper. Shang Ke’s brain was beginning to suffer from lack of oxygen, and with his body pinned firmly beneath him, he could only endure whatever Jian Chenfeng did.
Just when Shang Ke thought he was about to pass out, Jian Chenfeng finally released him. Shang Ke panted softly, his eyes misty, his swollen lips slightly parted, full and glistening like ripe cherries waiting to be picked.
Jian Chenfeng’s gaze darkened as his fingers rubbed slowly over Shang Ke’s lips, considering whether to kiss him again. But when Shang Ke opened his mouth as though he wanted to say something, Jian Chenfeng growled, “Shut up.”
Shang Ke glared at him. This young master was the one being sexually harassed, and he actually had the nerve to tell me to shut up?
Jian Chenfeng said in a low voice, “If you dare say a single word of refusal, I’ll fuck you right now.”
Shang Ke opened his mouth, but before he could get a single word out, Jian Chenfeng interrupted him again. “You’re not allowed to say things like ‘I don’t like men,’ ‘There’s no possibility of us being together,’ or ‘I only like your sister.’ Otherwise, we’ll do everything lovers do, from beginning to end, right here on this sofa.”
Was there any justice left in this world?! Did this bastard watch romance dramas all day and memorize every line?! Wait, that wasn’t the point. The point was, why wasn’t he allowed to refuse? If he couldn’t say any of those things, what the hell was he supposed to say?
Seeing Shang Ke look as though he wanted to speak but had no idea what to say, Jian Chenfeng continued, “Jiang Yumo, listen carefully. You’d better not let me find out that you’re still thinking about trading your life for someone else’s. If you do anything reckless again, I’ll fuck you on the spot.”
“……”
“…”
Jian Chenfeng stared at him without blinking, as though he were simply waiting for Shang Ke to “break the rules.”
How could Shang Ke possibly let him have his way? After holding it in for a long time, he finally managed, “I’m resigning tomorrow.” If I can’t afford to provoke him, surely I can at least avoid him.
“If you dare resign, I’ll fuck you.”
“I’m moving out.”
“If you dare move out, I’ll fuck you too.”
Shang Ke finally snapped. “Then I’ll go back to my own home!”
“Then I’ll chase you all the way home and fuck you there.”
Could he possibly get any more shameless? Shang Ke stared at him in disbelief. “My parents and my older brother are all at home. You’d really dare mess around with me right in front of them?”
“That’s fine. It’ll be the perfect opportunity to come out and make our relationship official.”
Shang Ke was stunned by his shamelessness. “Have you forgotten that I’m a brain-tumor patient on the verge of death?” Fine, don’t cherish me—but do you really have to threaten and pressure me over and over again? You fucking beast!
“Of course I haven’t forgotten. You’re the one who doesn’t care.” Jian Chenfeng gazed deeply at him. “Rather than let you die on the operating table, I’d rather have you die in my bed, in my arms, beneath my body.”
Shang Ke lowered his eyes and thought for a moment before spitting out two words. “Fuck off.”
Jian Chenfeng moved aside, only to pull Shang Ke into his arms as well, wrapping one arm around his waist.
“I…” Shang Ke had been about to say, There’s no possibility of us being together, but then remembered Jian Chenfeng’s threat and promptly shut his mouth again.
Fuck! He’d already blocked off everything Shang Ke wanted to say. What the hell was he supposed to say now?!
“All right, stop thinking about it.” Jian Chenfeng stroked his head reassuringly. “I’ll arrange your surgery for next month. Just stay obediently by my side. You don’t have to worry about my sister. I’ll find a suitable heart for her.”
If you find one for her, how am I supposed to demonstrate my value by sacrificing myself? Shang Ke grumbled inwardly. Still, brain surgery carried enormous risks. Even if he did nothing to interfere, there was no guarantee it would succeed, so his plan could continue for now. If the surgery somehow succeeded by accident, he could always think of another method afterward.
For now, calming Jian Chenfeng down was more important. Shang Ke had never expected this man to actually fall for him. Thinking about it now, Ravel’s attitude toward him in the previous world had also seemed a little…
While Shang Ke was lost in thought, Jian Chenfeng kissed him on the lips again. “Yumo, I’ll give you time to adjust—at least until your surgery is over.”
It wasn’t that Jian Chenfeng didn’t know the surgery was dangerous; he simply didn’t dare think about it. He would hire the world’s best brain specialists and absolutely refused to allow anything to go wrong.
The next day, Shang Ke, having succumbed to Jian Chenfeng’s tyrannical threats, still went to work with him.
After work, he prepared a lavish, nutritious meal and took it to Jian Xin at the hospital.
“Jiang Yumo?” Jian Xin looked displeased when she saw Shang Ke and the food in his hands. “You don’t need to bring me food. I have everything I need here.”
Jian Chenfeng frowned and reprimanded her. “Xin’er, where are your manners?”
Jian Xin pursed her lips and lowered her head, saying nothing more.
Shang Ke placed the lunchbox on the table and smiled. “I made this nutritious meal especially for you. I guarantee it’s both healthy and delicious.”
Jian Chenfeng stood to one side feeling thoroughly sour. The special treatment he desperately wanted was something Jian Xin regarded with disdain.
“Where’s Jiang Donglin?” Jian Chenfeng deliberately asked.
“He had a meeting today. He should be here soon.” The moment Jiang Donglin was mentioned, Jian Xin’s expression changed completely, warmth filling her eyes.
Jian Chenfeng secretly glanced at Shang Ke, but unfortunately could only see his back.
As they were speaking, Jiang Donglin entered the room. He paused slightly when he saw Jian Chenfeng and Shang Ke, then smiled. “You two are here too.”
He walked over to Shang Ke and asked with concern, “Yumo, are you all right?”
Shang Ke smiled faintly. “I’m fine.”
“Since Donglin’s here, we’ll get going.” Jian Chenfeng wrapped an arm around Shang Ke’s waist and exerted a little pressure, steering him toward the door.
“Xin’er, I’ll see them out and bring you something to eat while I’m at it.” Jiang Donglin hadn’t noticed the lunchbox on the table, so he followed the two men out of the room.
Jian Xin heard that Jiang Donglin intended to bring her food but didn’t remind him about the meal Shang Ke had brought. Once they were gone, she picked up the lunchbox and prepared to throw it into the trash, only to realize that it was too large, awkward to discard, and far too conspicuous. So she called over a cleaning lady and instructed, “Please throw this away for me.”
The cleaning lady picked up the exquisite lunchbox with a puzzled expression and left the room muttering to herself.
Shang Ke was waiting for the elevator when he happened to glance over and see the cleaning lady emerge from around the corner carrying the lunchbox. She casually tossed it straight into a trash can.
Jian Chenfeng saw it too, and anger surged through him. Jiang Yumo had spent two full hours carefully preparing the nutritious meal in that lunchbox. Jian Chenfeng had only stolen two bites before being harshly scolded for it, yet his sister had simply thrown the entire thing away!
It was certainly a good thing for Jian Chenfeng that Jian Xin didn’t return Jiang Yumo’s feelings, but he absolutely did not want Yumo to be hurt because of it.
Jian Chenfeng looked toward Yumo and saw him silently staring at the trash can, a faint trace of sadness lingering across his handsome face.
Jian Chenfeng pressed his lips into a thin line and immediately turned to head back.
Shang Ke hurriedly grabbed him. “What are you doing?”
“She’s gone too far!”
“It’s fine. It was only some food.” Shang Ke looked perfectly calm on the surface, but inwardly he was roaring, The delicious food I worked so hard to make was wasted just like that! It’ll never rest in peace!
Jiang Donglin looked thoroughly confused. “What happened?”
Jian Chenfeng glared at him and said coldly, “Jiang Donglin, my sister is extremely willful. Stop indulging her all the time. When she needs to be taught a lesson, then teach her one.”
Jiang Donglin: “…” Wasn’t a certain someone usually so obsessed with spoiling his precious little sister that no one was allowed to criticize her? And now he was actually encouraging someone else to discipline her?
At that moment, the elevator arrived. Shang Ke immediately dragged Jian Chenfeng inside, then told Jiang Donglin, “Brother, take good care of Jian Xin. We’ll be going now.”
Once the elevator doors closed, Shang Ke lowered his head and stared at the tips of his shoes.
Jian Chenfeng desperately wanted to ask him whether it was really worth doing so much for someone who didn’t love him. She didn’t appreciate any of it in the slightest.
Shang Ke remained silent throughout the trip home. The moment they stepped through the door, he abruptly shook off Jian Chenfeng’s hand and rushed into the bathroom.
“Yumo!” Jian Chenfeng hurried after him and found Shang Ke bent over the sink, retching repeatedly. “What’s wrong?”
Shang Ke hurriedly rinsed himself off. His hair was wet, crystalline droplets clinging to his almost translucent pale face. With his eyes lowered and his shoulders rising and falling slightly, he looked strikingly fragile.
“I’m just a little nauseous. It’s a normal reaction.” Shang Ke waved a hand, signaling that Jian Chenfeng didn’t need to worry.
“A normal reaction?” Jian Chenfeng’s expression darkened. “How long has this been happening?”
Shang Ke glanced at him without answering.
“Since the time you hit the back of your head?” Jian Chenfeng gripped his shoulders, furious. “Jiang Yumo, when the fuck were you planning to tell me?”
“What was there to tell you?” Shang Ke shrugged. “Would telling you somehow make it disappear?”
Jian Chenfeng genuinely wanted to strangle this bastard who treated his own life as though it meant nothing.
“Come on. I’m taking you to the hospital for an examination.”
“Wait.” Shang Ke stopped him. “There’s no need. This really is a normal reaction. Haven’t you already arranged the surgery? As long as the operation succeeds, I’ll be fine. With you watching me this closely, it wouldn’t be easy for me to die even if I wanted to.”
Jian Chenfeng took a deep breath and slowly said, “Maybe I should just fuck you first.”
Shang Ke: “!” What the hell does that have to do with anything we were just talking about?!
Jian Chenfeng pulled him into his arms and buried his face in the crook of Shang Ke’s neck. “Jiang Yumo, I’m begging you. Please take better care of yourself.” He dared compete against anyone. Gender, family background, and public opinion could never stop him from claiming this man. The only opponent he could never defeat was death.
“Give up on Jian Xin.” Jian Chenfeng trapped him against the wall between his arms, his voice hoarse. “I’m a better match for you than she is.”
Jian Chenfeng kissed him, sucking hard at his lips as both hands slipped beneath his clothes and roamed over his bare skin. The scorching touch sent a tingling weakness through Shang Ke’s body.
Shang Ke admitted that Jian Chenfeng’s sincerity genuinely moved him, but he still found it difficult to adjust to another man’s lust-filled caresses and forceful sexual advances. Besides, he was destined to “die a horrible death.” He truly didn’t have the energy to deal with a relationship that had never been part of his plans.
“Stop…” The man pressed against him felt like a branding iron, burning so hot that Shang Ke’s entire body heated up, yet no matter how he struggled, he couldn’t budge him in the slightest.
“Don’t be afraid. I told you I’d give you time to adjust.” Flames seemed to burn in Jian Chenfeng’s eyes. “But don’t test my patience. From now on, if you experience any abnormal symptoms at all, you have to tell me. If I ever find out you’ve hidden something from me again, Jiang Yumo, you’re absolutely screwed.”
