Chapter 154: I Am An Evil Pen (XI)

Chen Zixiong had barely stepped into the restroom when the lights overhead suddenly flickered several times. He paid it little attention and swept his gaze around, searching for Shang Ke. He had always preferred handsome men like Bai Lin, but the moment he saw Shang Ke earlier, he had been utterly stunned by his beauty.

Wen Jingrong might not be easy to provoke, but Chen Zixiong’s influence in the underworld was not something the other man could casually touch either. With Bai Lin drawing Wen Jingrong away, Chen Zixiong could hardly wait to become more intimately acquainted with the beauty.

The restroom was utterly silent. The lighting seemed dimmer than usual, casting a murky yellow glow that made the atmosphere strangely oppressive.

Chen Zixiong saw no one near the wall-mounted urinals and assumed the beauty must have entered one of the stalls. He felt somewhat annoyed. Was he really supposed to stand stupidly outside and wait? After thinking it over, he decided to wait in the corridor instead and smoke a cigarette.

But the moment he turned around, he heard the rush of running water. One of the motion-sensor faucets had somehow switched on by itself. Chen Zixiong instinctively walked over to test it, only for the water to stop.

“What the hell? Is it broken?” Chen Zixiong muttered. He casually glanced up at the mirror and noticed that one of the stall doors behind him had somehow opened a crack. Thinking the beauty was about to come out, he started to turn—only to see four deathly pale fingers slowly emerge from the darkness between the door and frame. Then a bloodshot eye appeared, pressed against the gap as it stared coldly at him.

Every hair on Chen Zixiong’s body stood on end as a chill shot straight through his skull.

He snapped back to his senses and found the stall door firmly shut, without the slightest sign that it had ever opened. He was just about to breathe a sigh of relief when he suddenly froze. A moment ago, the indicator had clearly shown the stall as occupied, yet now it showed empty. Had his eyes been playing tricks on him?

Chen Zixiong lowered his head slightly, his gaze accidentally sweeping across the floor. His blood immediately ran cold. Under the dim yellow light, two overlapping shadows were clearly visible—as though someone were standing pressed directly against his back.

Chen Zixiong’s breathing grew heavy, unnaturally loud in the deathly silent restroom. His legs stiffened until he could not move at all. His eyes shifted slowly toward the wall mirror.

There was no one behind him.

Chen Zixiong exhaled, deciding he was merely being paranoid. He forced his numb legs to move and slowly turned around—only to come face-to-face with a pale, horribly distorted face.

“Ah!” Chen Zixiong screamed and stumbled backward until his back struck the icy wall.

A man drenched in blood stood rigidly before him. He lifted a head that seemed barely attached to his neck and gave Chen Zixiong an eerie smile. The overhead lights flickered again, and in the blink of an eye, the bloody man vanished.

That did nothing to make Chen Zixiong feel better. As he frantically looked around, several fingers as cold as icicles silently crept onto his shoulder, chilling half his body until it nearly went numb.

“Why… did… you… kill me?” A sinister voice suddenly whispered into Chen Zixiong’s ear.

Shang Ke’s face appeared behind Chen Zixiong.

Shang Ke had invaded Chen Zixiong’s mind with baleful energy and induced hallucinations. Shang Ke himself had not changed at all, but what Chen Zixiong saw was someone he had once caused the death of.

As a pen demon that specialized in absorbing baleful energy, what was Shang Ke best at? Eroding humanity, corrupting morality, and drawing out the darkness buried within the human heart. Just because an evil pen usually behaved itself did not mean anyone should mistake it for some pure and harmless good little pen. Was there any creature in the world more terrifying than an evil pen?

No!

Shang Ke let out another sinister laugh and nearly frightened Chen Zixiong into wetting himself.

“W-Wang Qu, you know how I operate,” Chen Zixiong stammered. “You didn’t clean things up properly and the police traced it back to you. I-I had no choice but to get rid of you.”

Wang Qu? Shang Ke remembered seeing that name in Wen Jingrong’s investigation files. He had been one of the arsonists involved in the previous fire. Shang Ke had not expected the incident to be connected to Chen Zixiong.

“Wang Qu,” Chen Zixiong continued, “don’t worry. I’ll take good care of your family and give them plenty of money. People in our line of work can lose their lives at any time. What matters is making sure your family has a stable future, right?”

Even under circumstances like these, the man still knew how to reason with a vengeful ghost and appeal to sentiment. He was impressively tough in his own way.

“I came here this time because there’s something I wanted to tell you,” Shang Ke said ominously.

“What?”

“I’ve actually always liked you. I want to have sex with you.”

“What?!” Chen Zixiong found this revelation even more horrifying than seeing a ghost. Wang Qu was huge and burly, with a face that looked like a shoddy construction project his parents had cut every possible corner on. If not for the fact that he had four intact limbs, Chen Zixiong might barely have recognized him as human.

“Don’t be afraid. I’ll quietly possess your bed partners. You won’t notice a thing.”

What do you mean, I won’t notice?! Chen Zixiong nearly burst into tears. From now on, every time he found a bed partner, he would wonder whether some hideous ghost was hiding inside them. He would go impotent on the spot! If the ghost wanted to sleep with him, couldn’t it just secretly do it? Why come all the way here specifically to tell him? He did not want to know the truth!

“Once you satisfy me, I’ll stop haunting you.” Shang Ke’s ice-cold fingers slid across Chen Zixiong’s neck, wisps of baleful energy spilling from them and making him shiver uncontrollably.

Either sleep with a ghost or be haunted by one. Chen Zixiong felt that his future had become unimaginably bleak.

Just as Shang Ke was preparing to torment the bastard further, a phone suddenly began ringing inside the restroom.

Chen Zixiong jolted and abruptly broke free of the hallucination. No one was around him, and the sinister chill had disappeared completely. If not for the large wet patch on his pants, he might have convinced himself it had all been a dream.

Chen Zixiong did not dare remain another second. He fled the restroom in panic and rushed straight toward the hotel parking lot. It was easy to foresee that he would be spending a very long time trapped between celibacy and paranoia…

Once he was gone, the lights brightened again and Shang Ke revealed himself. He answered his phone with a perfectly pleasant smile. “Hello? I’m in the restroom. Mm, I’ll be right there.”

After hanging up, Shang Ke walked out with a spring in his step.

Wen Jingrong was waiting outside. Seeing Shang Ke beaming, he asked, “Something good happen?”

“Mm. I ate something delicious,” Shang Ke replied contentedly.

“Oh? What was it? I’ll have someone buy it for you next time.”

“No need. No matter how delicious it was, it still can’t compare to the food you cook for me.” Culinary abominations capable of poisoning a man to death were available exclusively from Wen Jingrong. Shang Ke absolutely adored them.

Wen Jingrong stared at him for a long while before finally deciding that Shang Ke was serious. Feeling secretly rather pleased with himself, he readily agreed. “All right. I’ll cook for you tomorrow.”

Shang Ke looked positively radiant with happiness.

After they returned home, Shang Ke told Wen Jingrong what had happened with Chen Zixiong and speculated that he was the mastermind behind the previous arson.

Wen Jingrong frowned. “He and I have always stayed out of each other’s way. He has no reason to do something like that. Did someone hire him?”

“Whatever the reason, at least we have a lead now.” Shang Ke sat on the bed playing with the computer as he answered.

“Mm.” Wen Jingrong moved closer and wrapped an arm around his waist. “How did you find out?”

“Lighting, special effects, and atmosphere.” Shang Ke glanced at him. “You wouldn’t understand even if I explained.”

Seeing Shang Ke wearing an expression that practically declared, I am simply this brilliant, clever, and peerless in wisdom; ordinary mortals like you cannot possibly compare, Wen Jingrong could not resist pouncing on him.

“You’re going to crush the computer!” Shang Ke cried.

“Then I’ll buy another one.” Wen Jingrong casually tossed the laptop aside, dragged Shang Ke beneath the blankets, and began giving him an in-depth and meticulous lesson in sex…

The next day, Wen Jingrong sent people to secretly investigate Chen Zixiong and everyone closely associated with him.

They quickly discovered someone unexpected—Bai Lin.

He had not expected the outwardly aloof and refined Bai Lin to associate with someone like Chen Zixiong, much less share an unusual relationship with him. Unfortunately, Wen Jingrong had no direct evidence linking either man to the arson unless he could obtain records of the relevant calls from their phones. Modern phone security was extremely strict; if they erased their tracks after every conversation, even Wen Jingrong would have difficulty obtaining anything useful.

Meanwhile, Shang Ke kept an eye on the progress of Qingwei’s project while making the most of his time enjoying a sweet life with Wen Jingrong.

For the sake of sustainability, Shang Ke assumed his full-sized adult form only once a week and entered Wen Jingrong’s dreams once every three days. The rest of the time, he either remained inside the smartpen or came out in his thumb-sized form for some fresh air.

Wen Jingrong protested and demanded that Shang Ke change the schedule from once a week to once every two days. Shang Ke rejected him mercilessly.

“This pen is short and frail.”

Wen Jingrong shamelessly replied, “It doesn’t matter if you’re a little short. Isn’t it enough as long as I’m long?”

Shang Ke had only one word for him:

“Divorce.”

Wen Jingrong immediately changed his tune. “Whatever you say. Once a week it is.”

If he could not have quantity, then he would improve the quality.

Once a week—and every time would last all day.

Two harmonious and happy months passed before Wen Jingrong’s investigation finally produced results. With the help of a hacker, he obtained a copy of a recording stored on Chen Zixiong’s phone: a conversation in which someone instructed him to arrange the arson. Wen Jingrong recognized Bai Lin’s voice, but the exact circumstances still required confirmation from Chen Zixiong himself.

Unfortunately, by the time the police moved to arrest Chen Zixiong, he had already fled. He was an old hand at the criminal underworld and had dealt with the police for years. Evading them came naturally to him, and he hardly took them seriously.

Bai Lin lacked Chen Zixiong’s composure. The moment he heard the news, panic set in. He immediately blocked Chen Zixiong and cut off all contact with him.

Chen Zixiong had already been having a miserable time lately. He had not dared approach either male or female partners and was nearly driving himself neurotic through abstinence. Now that Bai Lin had blocked him as well, fury surged through his chest.

Qingwei had only managed to secure its share of the Pano Island development project because Chen Zixiong had helped from behind the scenes. To protect his own interests, he had also planted quite a few of his own people throughout Qingwei’s project. If he wanted to sabotage things now, all it would take was a single order. Even if the entire project collapsed unfinished, he would not be the one suffering the greatest losses. Once Qingwei went bankrupt, Bai Lin would inevitably come begging him for help.

Just imagining that proud, aloof man eventually forced to grovel beneath him was enough to make Chen Zixiong inexplicably aroused.

But the moment he remembered the hideous ghost supposedly waiting to have sex with him, his excitement instantly died. In its place rose a twisted, violent desire to lash out and torment someone…
