Chapter 264: This Life—The Beginning (V)
Wei Xun had been having strange dreams lately. He could no longer remember their details, but they were certainly connected to Shang Ke. When he woke, he was left with a peculiar sense of fullness; whenever he tried to hold on to it, it vanished like mist.
Wei Xun did not consider himself an emotional person—at least, that was what he believed. The experiences in his dreams therefore baffled him. More baffling still was why he kept dreaming about Shang Ke, whom he had met only two or three times. Was it simply because Shang Ke was the only face he could remember?
Because of that, he did not contact Shang Ke for many days. Then, outside the swimming pool, he saw Shang Ke again—bright, animated, and being “intimate” with Qi Chen. At that moment, an indescribable sense of danger and urgency rose in Wei Xun’s heart. He felt he had to do something.
Then, the night before, he had a wet dream. His body told him clearly that he wanted Shang Ke—wanted him to belong to Wei Xun completely. For a man who had felt no distinct desire since his first nocturnal emission in adolescence and had assumed himself sexually frigid, the sensation was a volcanic eruption.
Even so, he had not planned to act immediately. He chose to use text messages to ease the frightening desire instead. Shang Ke did not answer a single one. At last, the furious Wei Xun decided to make Shang Ke remember him in the simplest, most direct way possible.
So, in the middle of the night, Wei Xun went to Shang Ke’s apartment, used the skills he had learned in the special forces to pick the lock, found Shang Ke showering in the bathroom, and proceeded to rape him with almost methodical thoroughness.
Wei Xun no longer remembered how many times he had done it or how violently. By the time he stopped, the room was a wreck and dawn had broken. Looking down at the sleeping Shang Ke in his arms, Wei Xun stroked his body and savored the afterglow of passion. Seductive moans and broken pleas still seemed to echo beside his ear. Unable to resist, he lifted Shang Ke and buried his face against his chest, licking him again and again…
Just then, the sound of the front door opening came from outside.
Wei Xun’s eyes sharpened. He gently released Shang Ke, turned over, and sat up.
“My Ke, are you up? Big Brother is here to freeload another meal!” Qi Chen shouted as he changed his shoes.
He shuffled into the kitchen in slippers and found that even the kettle had not been boiled. “Is he not home?” Qi Chen muttered.
He took a drink from the refrigerator and turned toward Shang Ke’s room. Just as he reached the doorway, the door opened. Qi Chen immediately put on a brilliant smile and prepared to say hello—only to discover that the person who emerged was not Shang Ke, but…
“Wei Xun?” Qi Chen stared at the man in shock. “Why are you here?”
Wei Xun wore only a pair of trousers, his bare torso radiating tightly controlled explosive strength. What caught Qi Chen’s attention, however, were the suggestive scratches covering his body.
Qi Chen’s expression darkened. He dropped the drink and rushed toward the room, but Wei Xun shifted one foot and blocked his path.
“Move!” Qi Chen shouted furiously.
“He is resting.” Wei Xun stared at him coldly, making it clear he had no intention of letting Qi Chen inside.
“Wei Xun!” Anger blazed in Qi Chen’s eyes as he demanded, each word distinct, “What did you do to Keke?”
“Isn’t it obvious? I had sex with him.” Wei Xun answered without the slightest attempt to hide it. “Are you insane?” Qi Chen roared. “Keke is a man! How could you do this? With your status, you could find any bedmate you wanted. Why did you choose him?”
“I do not need to explain my choice to you.”
“Bastard!” Qi Chen could not endure it any longer and swung a fist at Wei Xun. Wei Xun had been trained in the special forces; how could a pampered young master like Qi Chen compete with him? After only a few exchanges, Wei Xun subdued him effortlessly.
“Wei Xun, I will never let this go!” The man Qi Chen had protected for more than a decade had been violated by this man. Anger alone could not describe what he felt; too many complicated emotions were tangled inside it.
Wei Xun ignored the threat. He dragged Qi Chen to the doorway and casually took a key from his pocket.
“What are you doing?” Qi Chen reached for it.
Wei Xun slipped the key into his own pocket, shoved Qi Chen outside, and slammed the door behind him.
“Wei Xun, you bastard!” Qi Chen pounded on the door. “Have you thought about how much trouble you are bringing Keke? He is an ordinary man with no backing. He cannot afford to play with a high-and-mighty heir like you!”
Wei Xun paused, then continued toward Shang Ke’s room.
Qi Chen knocked for a long time. In the end, the neighbors’ complaints forced him to stop the pointless pounding.
When Wei Xun opened the bedroom door, he found that Shang Ke had woken at some point. He was sitting on the bed, pulling an oversized T-shirt over himself.
Wei Xun sat down beside the bed and silently met Shang Ke’s eyes for a moment. Then he said, “Do not call the police. You will only get yourself into trouble.”
Damn it. After raping someone, his first words were not comfort, a heartfelt confession, or a domineering offer of money. They were a threat dressed up as concern for Shang Ke’s own good.
Shang Ke stared at him without expression.
At that moment, Wei Xun produced a military knife from nowhere and held it out to Shang Ke.
What was he supposed to do? Shang Ke looked at the knife in bewilderment.
“You can stab me once. I promise I will not fight back, and I will not let anyone know what happened.”
Shang Ke: … He had just finished raping him and was handing him a knife. Was Wei Xun incapable of following any normal script? Even a few tens of millions would have been better than “cutting ties with one stroke.”
“If I stab you, we are even?” Shang Ke asked calmly.
Wei Xun looked at him deeply. “What do you mean by ‘even’?”
“We forget this completely. You follow your broad road, and I cross my narrow bridge.”
“I will not forget what I have done.”
“Then pretend nothing happened and go back to being friends.”
“Friends who can sleep together.”
“…You still want to sleep with me?”
“Mm.”
What did he mean, “mm”?!
Shang Ke: “Then what would stabbing you accomplish?”
Wei Xun: “It will let you vent your anger. Interpret it however you like.”
Shang Ke was speechless.
He had not yet met the Wei patriarch, made himself known to Wei Xun’s parents, or built a relationship with Wei Xun’s siblings. His career had not even begun. A farsighted, perfect plan had been destroyed by one man. If they established a relationship now, the all-seeing Wei family would discover it within a month. Shang Ke would then have to develop his career under Wei Xun’s protection, trembling at every step—or perhaps have no time for his career at all, because fending off the Wei family’s collective attack would be exhausting enough.
That was assuming the Wei family was law-abiding and restrained. If they dealt him a few devastating blows at the slightest disagreement, he would never withstand it.
For the sake of long-term happiness, Shang Ke could not let short-term sexual bliss cloud his judgment. He had to find a way to turn this nonstandard physical relationship back into a proper brotherly friendship.
“Wei Xun, we have only met two or three times, right?”
“Mm.”
“Do you have a habit of raping people after meeting them three times?”
Wei Xun’s face darkened. “Of course not.”
“Then what was this?” Shang Ke pointed between them. “A sudden impulse?”
Wei Xun was silent for a moment. “I gave you a chance.”
“What chance?”
“The chance to develop feelings gradually and arrive at this naturally, without being raped.”
“There was… such a chance?” What extraordinary opportunity had he missed?
“Of course. I sent you many messages, and you did not answer a single one.”
Shang Ke: “…That was it?”
“That was it.”
He had been raped because he failed to reply to a text message? Was there any justice in this world?
Shang Ke clasped Wei Xun’s hand with both of his and said indignantly, “Give me one more chance! I promise I will carry my phone on me twenty-four hours a day, keep it fully charged, and read every message down to the smallest detail!”
Wei Xun: “…”
“So,” Shang Ke pleaded with extraordinary sincerity, “let’s just be friends. If you do not object, brothers is fine too—the kind who do not sleep together.”
“Is sleeping with me unpleasant?” Wei Xun’s gaze turned dim and deep.
Oh no, darling. You were strong, persistent, and incredibly sexy. Sleeping with you was fantastic.
What Shang Ke actually said was, “Do you not think there is something wrong with our genders?”
“There is nothing wrong.” Wei Xun had already examined the matter carefully. They were the same.
“We are men. Both of us are men.” Shang Ke spoke with righteous conviction. “Men are suited to being friends, brothers, or rivals.”
“What about ‘gay friends’?”
Shang Ke stared silently at him for a long time. Then he collapsed weakly onto the bed and said, “I ache all over. I only want to sleep.”
Wei Xun could not stop the curve that appeared along his straight lips. Shang Ke’s reactions were always beyond his expectations. He had assumed Shang Ke would be aggrieved, furious, or forced by Wei Xun’s status to endure it. Instead, Shang Ke was bargaining, trying to persuade him to redefine their relationship. Wei Xun had actually prepared himself to be cursed at, beaten, or killed.
Shang Ke was smarter than he had expected—and much more… adorable.
“Rest well.” Wei Xun stroked his hair and spoke quietly. “I understand what you mean. You want to be friends, so we will be friends for now.”
Really? He was being this agreeable? Shang Ke poked his head out from beneath the blanket and regarded him suspiciously.
Wei Xun bent down and kissed his forehead, then rose and left.
Hey! Was that how friends behaved? Could friends just kiss each other on the forehead?
Shang Ke stared at the closed door for a long time, then shyly burrowed under the blanket and rolled around a few times.
Oh my goodness, he wanted to kiss him back so badly!
After Wei Xun threw Qi Chen out of Shang Ke’s apartment, Qi Chen did not leave at once. He sat in his car, smoking one cigarette after another, keeping watch from morning until dusk. At last, he saw Wei Xun come downstairs in ill-fitting casual clothes, get into his own car, and roar away.
Qi Chen sat for a while longer, then threw away the half-smoked cigarette. He looked up at the floor where Shang Ke lived, started the car, and left the complex.
He wanted to see Shang Ke very badly, but not now. The thought of Shang Ke’s body covered in that man’s traces was unbearable.
He had never felt such jealousy—not even when someone had stolen a girlfriend from him.
