Chapter 42.1
Chapter 42.1
……Delicious.
That was what I thought after taking a bite of the food that had arrived. How in the world did they create this dish so that it reminded you of a fish leaping from the sea?
“It’s…… delicious.”
Gloria sunbae laughed proudly as I muttered with a stunned face.
“Isn’t it? Do you want to order more?”
“No, I am full,” I said, wiping my mouth with my napkin before taking a sip of water.
It was good, but one more bite, and I would throw up.
“The tiramisu here is also really good.”
“Oh, then we should get it.”
I had been in the middle of getting out of my seat, but I readily sat down again.
Everyone knows there is a different stomach for dessert.
It was only after I had wiped out three pieces of tiramisu that I left the restaurant, rubbing my full stomach. It was the first time I realised I could eat that much.
* * *
It had only been an hour since I had stuffed myself full, but I was beginning to feel hungry again.
“I had to bring you here!” said Gloria sunbae excitedly. She had brought me to a styling house, one I would have never even dared to enter as it was famous for being expensive.
“We’ll try them on,” she said, stepping into the place with ease and choosing clothes without hesitation.
“Here you go.”
“M- me?”
I’d thought the clothes were for her, but she was picking them for me……
I entered the fitting room with a puzzled face, and put on the green dress sunbae had given me.
“Wow, it’s more comfortable than I’d expected.”
Is this really a dress?
It was a pretty dress with lace, ornaments, and several other things hanging on it. But as I moved my arm, I was amazed at how it was as comfortable as pyjamas.
“Then did you think I would make you wear something uncomfortable?” Gloria sunbae said, blinking, before handing the next outfit to me.
Things were okay up until then. I began to feel that something was off after the number of clothes I had tried on reached double digits. I felt like I had become a doll, as I tried on clothes one after another as sunbae handed them to me.
Tired, I am so tired.
Everytime I put on a different outfit, Gloria sunbae would make a fuss, saying I was pretty, and oh, the dress was so cute. I, on the other hand, felt like I could die.
“ Sunbae , no more please……”
“Mhmm, but just one more! Just try this last one on,” she said, smiling brightly and holding up a white dress made of a frothy fabric.
“My younger sister is still too young, so I can’t choose clothes for her yet.”
Was she talking about a younger half-sister?
Holding the dress, I looked at sunbae who was smiling warmly, my head tilted to the side.
Can you really be that nice to a half-sibling?
But come to think of it, there was a part of Gloria sunbae that did not fit the image of a high ranking noble. Did that have something to do with her claims of being reborn?
“That’s why I’ve wanted to hang out with you.”
Sunbae’s blue eyes looked gently at me.
“But it always seemed like you were avoiding me.”
“That……”
…was because of the book.
That was what I wanted to say, but I kept my mouth shut. Whatever reasons I’d had, it was true that I had judged sunbae without even knowing her well.
“……I am sorry.”
“Hmm? Why all of a sudden? I didn’t say that to make you apologise.”
“Still.”
She stared at me for a moment before laughing.
“Anyway, with the way you had been avoiding me, I had thought that my face was scary or something.”
Sunbae did indeed look cold, but it was not to the point where she looked scary or needed to be avoided. With that thought, I found myself feeling sorry.
“We’ll check out.”
“You, you’re not buying these for me, are you?
Astonished, I tried to stop sunbae , who had already pulled out her wallet.
“No, you can’t! Absolutely not!”
I would owe you too much .
With my frantic efforts, I successfully managed to get sunbae to pay for only one outfit. I still felt like I owed her, but it was much better than being gifted five outfits.
“Thank you…… I will pay you back as soon as possible.”
“No, seeing you in the dress is enough for me,” Gloria sunbae said, rubbing my head. Then she murmured softly.
“I got lucky.”
* * *
We explored the entire downtown area, hanging out until the skies began to turn red. Probably because we had gotten some street food, I felt full even though I had not eaten dinner.
“This is my first time staying out this late.”
“Really? Are you tired? Want to go back?”
“No, I’m okay. It’s the weekend anyway,” I mumbled in response as I chewed on the skewers we bought from a street stall.
“There is some sauce here.”
Gloria sunbae rubbed my lips, her eyes lowered.
You have some on you too .
I looked at sunbae quietly, before wiping off the sauce that was on her mouth. As I licked off the sauce that was now on my finger, Gloria sunbae stared at me blankly.
