Chapter 43.2

I held tightly onto the teacup with a perplexed look on my face. If I said that, none of them would believe me. They would only laugh at me.

“It’s just……”

In fact, the answer was very clear. There was only one phrase that was always coming out of Gloria sunbae ’s mouth.

Eventually, I stopped hesitating, closed my eyes tightly and said in a very drawn out voice.

“I am…… cute.”

“Pfft.”

A burst of laughter came from my audience. A moment later, the entire room was filled with the sound of laughter.

“Hey, this kid is quite funny.”

The dark haired sunbae wiped away the tears at the corners of her eyes.

What was this feeling? I had said I was tired of hearing the word ‘cute’. Then why did I feel bad at their mocking laughter?

I frowned while brooding inside.

“Anyway, could you talk to Gloria? Tell her to come join the social club,” she whispered to me. As though she thought I could never say no.

“Think about it. It won’t do you any harm. I can even let you join if you want.”

She said it like she was showing me the greatest mercy, but my face remained grim.

Stop with the nonsense .

I could already see what would happen after I brought Gloria sunbae to them. As soon as I joined, I wouldn’t be able to fit in. After being ostracised, I would leave of my own volition. Although I had no intention of joining.

It could be seen that I was the easiest among the people around Gloria sunbae , seeing as they brought me here, instead of Flora sunbae or Noah sunbae . In a sense, it was actually  to be expected.

I scratched my cheek with a troubled look.

“Ah, I think that will be a bit difficult……”

“Try again.”

“Huh? Uh, I think it will be hard to……”

“Again.”

It was only then that I stupidly realised. They wouldn’t let me go until I agreed. Finally, while wailing inside, I spoke again,

“I…… I’ll try. But……”

“But?”

“She might say no……”

“Why?”

What was with all the questions!? ^[3]

I ground my teeth. After just barely managing to keep the ball of anger inside me from erupting, I cleared my throat and began speaking once again.

“In any case, I think it will be difficult. I have no right to make her, and if she doesn’t want to, what is the point of even trying.”

“Hmm.”

The sunbae gave a frosty smile.

“I’d thought that you had some sense.”

She glanced at my name tag and sneered.

“Your last name is Blair?”

“!”

“Hey, in what neck of the woods would that be?” she asked another student, smiling stiffly.

“Probably somewhere in the south.”

“Whoa, that’s serious backwater, isn’t it?”

That was when that feeling I had been trying so hard to contain finally exploded.

I cannot stand this anymore.

I placed my teacup down with a frown. Anyway, the tea was already cold so I couldn’t drink it, so I did so without hesitation.

“You truly are the worst, sunbae-nim. ” ^[4]

“……what did you just say?”

Unfazed, I carried on, my voice growing stronger as I spoke.

“You know, I am not sure of anything else, but I completely understand why Gloria un.ni. refused to join you all here.” ^[5]

Yes. I said what I said.

As the atmosphere in the room grew cold, I closed my eyes and opened them again. I wasn’t unafraid of what the backlash would be, but I felt completely refreshed after saying everything I had wanted to.

“Ha!”

When I looked up, the dark-haired sunbae was looking at me with an expression that said, ‘ has this girl gone mad?’

“You, do you think I will just let this slide?”

Unable to hold her temper anymore, she stood from her seat and exploded in anger as she stared at me. I was scared shitless, but I didn’t avoid her fierce gaze and stared back at her.

I had done nothing wrong. She was the one who dragged me here, and she was also the first one to make trouble. If necessary, I was even ready to fight back with magic.

Just as I swallowed and readied my mind, the door burst open with a bang.

“What, what was that?”

I turned my head at the same time as Dark-Hair sunbae , who was confused. The classy-looking mahogany door was hanging loose on its hinges, like someone had tried too hard to open it and had broken it in the process.

How expensive it must have been. What a waste.

Through the door, we could see platinum hair that had come loose and was fluttering in the breeze. When I recognised who it was, I exclaimed inside.

Gloria sunbae! You came for me!

When I saw Gloria sunbae’s face, I realised it was my first time seeing her unsmiling.

[3] The raws say ‘물음표 살인마’, which means ‘question mark killer’. It’s used when someone has asked one too many questions. If Kate was Nigerian, she would have said, “That ‘why’ kill you there!”

[4] Adding ‘-nim’ makes her speech even more formal, colder. Kate is about to pop off!!

[5] The use of full stops in un.ni. is from the raws, and I think it’s meant to show emphasis: she is telling them that she has a closer relationship with Gloria than they think.
