Chapter 44.1
Chapter 44.1
Gloria sunbae was almost always smiling. That was why I had always thought that she had a friendly, inviting face. Until now.
In fact, she had a very cold and haughty face.
“……!”
Gloria sunbae was standing at the entrance expressionless. No. She looked ferocious, like she wanted to destroy everything in her path. Her blue eyes shone with rage. Because she was always smiling, her scary expression was scarier than I’d thought. It was like I was seeing that other Gloria sunbae , the one in the book.
I instinctively backed away.
She was so stern, with a frost-like momentum, that it gave the illusion that she was using aura. The illusion turned out to be true when all the teacups in the room froze and cracked at the same time.
“Ahhh!”
The fragments did not fly around, but their cracking was terrifying enough. At some point, the temperature in the room had dropped, becoming chilly. Shivering from the cold, I swallowed nervously and pulled my clothes tighter around me. The next moment, ice picks flew out, piercing the walls. I twitched.
What is going on? Don’t you see that I’m here, sunbae?
As the ice brushed past my cheeks and hair, I shrieked inside, and hurriedly raised a defensive magic circle. Dark-Hair sunbae crept towards me.
“Ah, it’s too small. Please move.”
“I, I don’t want to!”
Her face pale, she grabbed onto my collar. Gloria sunbae must have scared her out of her wits. I managed to shake her off and get to Gloria sunbae .
“……who did this to you?” [1]
When she saw the red bruise that had formed on my wrists, she grabbed my arm and growled.
I had already let go of all pretenses with that sunbae , and Gloria sunbae was on my side. Add to that the fact that Gloria sunbae was of a higher ranking than Dark-Hair sunbae . After taking the sum of everything, I closed my eyes tightly and pointed at the sunbae with curly, dark hair.
“That person.”
Immediately, a cold wind swept through the room. I was under no illusion this time. It was real. Dark-Hair sunbae fell back into a chair, her legs having softened.
“It was you?”
“ Gasp! ”
“Please forgive me this one time. Just this once!”
I hugged Gloria sunbae from the back to hold her back, as if I was trying to soothe a rabid dog. [2] Otherwise, sunbae would have destroyed both the room and the people who were inside it.
“……A back hug?” Gloria sunbae asked.
“Oh, come on!”
After I shouted, Gloria sunbae coughed a few times, swept back her loose hair, and then stared down Dark-Hair sunbae .
“Oh, it’s you. I have seen you before. Uhm…… What was your name again?” Gloria sunbae asked, her head tilted exaggeratedly.
If someone was in the social club, then they were from a well-renowned family. Dark-Hair sunbae flushed bright red at Gloria sunbae’s condescending attitude. But knowing that it was all her fault, she remained silent.
“But why did you call her here? What was so important that you grabbed her hard enough to leave a mark?”
Dark-Hair sunbae shouted as if she had been treated unfairly.
“I, I just called her over for a cup of tea! Am I not allowed to have tea with my schoolmates?”
Standing behind Gloria sunbae , I was so dumbfounded that my mouth fell open.
Wonders shall never cease. Just a moment ago, it had felt like she was going to poison me. What rubbish was she spouting now?
“Is that so? Then I’m doing this just because. You know, ’cause I feel like it.”
“Excuse me?!”
Sunbae fiddled with her platinum blonde hair as she smiled lopsidedly.
“Mm, now I remember. Linda, right? Linda Ersel.
Ah, Count Ersel.
I hadn’t known because I didn’t dare to look at her name tag. But the Count Ersel name was such a famous one that even I had heard of it.
However, Gloria sunbae continued speaking, without hesitation, as if she didn’t care what her ranking was.
“Linda, bring these words to your father. We will no longer trade with the Count Ersel estate, and even if my rank is reduced to marquis, I will never give your estate a second glance.”
“You, you! Who are you to decide that?!” the sunbae named Linda shouted, her face now white.
“I am going to tell [your father] that you made a fuss and broke everything in here. Do you think you’ll be able to get away with this unscathed? I will……!”
“Uh, Linda. I can’t hear you.”
Gloria sunbae smiled brightly and raised her middle finger, as if all those words had gone in one ear and out the other.
“My goodness!” Linda sunbae faltered, flushing red because of the insult.
“If you have anything to say to me in the future, come directly to me. Don’t go looking for the innocent kid. That’s just shameful.”
After the fierce warning, Gloria sunbae took me by the shoulders and began to head out of the room. But then she turned back towards the people in the room and smiled.
“Ah, as for the broken items, you can send a bill to my house if you wish.”
Then, with a much kinder expression, she said to me, “Let’s go.”
Sunbae …… she…… she was truly a scary person.
I swallowed the saliva that had gathered in my mouth.
Going forward, I could no longer be impudent with her.
Note:
[1] Oh, folks, we have the legendary “who did this to you?” line! Gloria would make an excellent domineering CEO.
[2] Why, of all the metaphors in the world, would the author choose to go with ‘rabid dog’?!
