Chapter 336: Letter from Su Family
Chapter 336: Letter from Su Family
It was on the last day Su Nian was preparing to go home.
A letter was respectfully delivered to her hands by a maid.
The envelope was stamped with the emblem of the Su Family — a coiled dragon with its eyes tightly shut, as if gathering strength in its slumber.
Hidden Dragon Town, the Su Family.
The so-called Su Family of Hidden Dragon Town did not refer to the small family she formed with her parents, but rather the massive clan of nearly 100 people in the town.
They also had hundreds of tenant farmers and helpers under them, owning a massive manor and several of the most prosperous shops in town.
Her father had broken away from the main family when she was young.
In the eyes of those clansmen, their branch had long since become an insignificant side branch.
There was almost no contact on ordinary days.
Only during the New Year festivals would they go to the oppressive manor of the main family just to go through the motions.
She even remembered the looks cast by her cousins during her childhood — a mixture of contempt and curiosity.
‘Why would the Su Family send me a letter?’
At her fingertips, a faint, imperceptible wisp of the fire element leaped out, silently burning away the sealing wax.
She pulled the letter from the envelope and unfolded it.
The handwriting on the letter was vigorous and powerful.
It should have been written by her titular uncle — the current head of the Su Family.
The beginning of the letter was filled with praise for the “junior of the clan” and her illustrious achievements in Academy City.
The words were earnest, and the superlatives almost overflowed from the paper, as if she, Su Nian, had been the proudest pearl of the entire family from the moment she was born.
The corner of Su Nian’s lips curled into a cold arc.
‘How ridiculous.’
She continued reading.
After more than half the page was filled with effusive praise, the pen, which had been splashing with enthusiasm, finally shifted its tone.
The letter mentioned Third Prince Elvin, his public infatuation with her, and how important this “good match” would be for the future of the Red Maple Kingdom and the Su Family.
Su Nian’s gaze turned completely cold.
At the end of the letter, the previous warm and affectionate tone vanished, replaced by an unquestionable tone of an elder issuing orders to a junior.
It demanded that she return to the family as soon as possible to discuss “important matters.”
‘Boring tricks.’
The Su Family had either accepted benefits from the Third Prince or, in their self-importance, felt that as long as she could respond to that useless prince’s pursuit, the entire Su Family could use it to climb the royal family’s high branch and achieve meteoric success.
‘Trying to pressure me with the family’s name?’
She slowly loosened her hand, letting the crumpled letter drift down.
A faint ripple of magic dispersed from her fingertips.
Before the letter could even show a spark of fire in mid-air, it turned into the finest black dust, leaving no trace behind.
‘With my current strength, do I need to care about what these people think?’
‘No.’
Just then.
Behind her, a low, raspy voice unique to someone who had just woken up sounded close to her ear.
A pair of powerful arms wrapped around her from behind.
A warm body temperature instantly enveloped her, circling her soft body into a solid and warm embrace.
The man’s chin rested in the crook of her shoulder, and his scorching breath puffed against the sensitive side of her neck, triggering a jolt of electricity through her.
“What are you thinking about?”
Su Nian’s body stiffened for a moment before softening again.
She had already gone from the initial discomfort to later numbness, and finally to her current habituation regarding these morning “greetings” and “touches.”
“Thinking about… what clothes to wear home.”
She heard her own voice, calm and submissive, even carrying a hint of the perfect anticipation and shyness of a young daughter returning home.
The Horned Demon let out a satisfied hum.
He indeed needed to prepare his attire properly to meet his “father-in-law and mother-in-law.”
For the first formal visit, etiquette must be thorough.
“I’ll help you choose.”
Chu Tian tightened his arms, pressing the girl’s head against his chest and gently stroking it.
“Okay.”
Su Nian’s reply was so soft it was almost inaudible.
‘Having someone help me choose saves me the trouble. There are so many clothes that it really is difficult to choose.’
Inside the massive walk-in closet.
Rows of seemingly endless racks were hung with all kinds of magnificent garments made of various materials.
From holy and dignified magic robes to sexy and enchanting silk nightgowns; from capable and dashing knight uniforms to gentle and lovely dresses… the styles were all different.
The common factor was that every piece of clothing here was very expensive, beautiful, and novel in design.
Chu Tian casually took a moon-white linen dress from the rack.
With just one look, he tossed it aside.
“Too plain. Your mother will think you were mistreated outside.”
He picked up another one, his brow furrowing slightly, “Too revealing. Not suitable for meeting parents.”
The man behind her was currently like a picky yet intimate husband, choosing clothes for his wife who was about to go on a long journey.
This scene made Su Nian feel a bit dazed.
The style of the dress was very conservative — high collar, long sleeves, and a hem that reached the ankles.
Only a thin belt of the same color was tied at the waist, yet it instead outlined her breathtakingly slender waist.
“This one.”
Chu Tian’s voice was decisive.
“Gentle and well-behaved, like a flower that needs to be carefully nurtured.”
He stuffed the dress into Su Nian’s arms, his warm palm covering her cold back of her hand and giving it a gentle pat.
“Go change into it and let me see.”
The tone was so natural it was as if they really were a loving couple about to return to their hometown to visit relatives.
Su Nian didn’t say a word.
She simply turned around in silence, took the ivory-white long dress, and walked into the private dressing room.
A few minutes later.
When she stepped out again, the light in the entire closet seemed to soften a few degrees.
In the mirror, the girl’s brilliant blonde hair cascaded down like a waterfall.
Set against the ivory-white dress, her skin was as white as snow, and her features were as beautiful as a painting.
The cold and holy aura that usually kept people thousands of miles away was perfectly neutralized.
In its place was a gentle and quiet demeanor, like a girl next door.
It was indeed very beautiful.
“Perfect.”
Chu Tian walked behind her, resting his hands on her shoulders as they looked at the reflection in the mirror together.
A match made in heaven.
The man was tall and handsome, and the woman was beautiful and ethereal.
Her parents would surely be very happy and proud to see her return home in such glory.
She was very powerful now.
She finally had the ability to let them live the best life…
‘Wait a minute. I don’t seem to have much money for my parents. Raising a dragon is too expensive!’
‘However, the Horned Demon Lord said he would prepare gifts for my parents.’
‘Um…’
‘In the end, I still have to rely on the Horned Demon?’
‘I feel like my current situation, spending the Horned Demon Lord’s money, is like… being kept. How embarrassing…’
‘No… whatever! The Horned Demon is my arch-enemy. Spending his money is weakening his strength.’
‘He has taken so much advantage of me. Spending some of his money is nothing; I’m still the one losing out! I have to spend it aggressively!’

Meanwhile, on the other side of the distant Continent, above the ocean.
One black and one pink stream of light tore through the clouds, racing toward the Red Maple Kingdom at an incredible speed.
Those were two figures radiating a terrifying pressure.
One of them was one of the Eight Demon Generals, Gareth Ironanvil, who held the authority of “Immortality.”
The other was another of the Eight Demon Generals, the Demon Queen Yousha, who wove “Dreams.”
They had only one goal for this trip.
To assassinate the human Hero who had repelled the Demon Race’s vanguard and closed the portal — the Star-Moon Saintess…
