Chapter 2 Superpowers
“Ouch! Don’t run!”
In the small courtyard enclosed by a simple wooden fence, Xiaoyan was running with her short legs, chasing a butterfly.
Lu Qing sat on a stone block, holding a plant with small red flowers and observing it.
At that moment, in his field of vision, the plant with small red flowers was emitting a faint white glow, with two lines of words floating on it.
[Cow Bone Grass: Average quality, medicinal.]
[Seems quite effective for bone injuries, perhaps useful for injuries.]
It took Lu Qing a while to finally understand the meaning of the words before him.
Simply put, perhaps due to his time travel, he had acquired a supernatural power.
Currently, the main manifestation of this power was that whenever he focused his gaze on an object, after a certain period of time, a layer of light and a simple description would appear on the object.
Furthermore, the longer he focused his gaze, the more information he gained, but this information was not infinite and seemed to be based on a certain standard.
Lu Qing tentatively speculated that this standard was related to the light appearing on the object.
No matter how long one looks at an object with a gray glow, there is only one description in the description.
An object with a white glow has two or more descriptions.
The cowbone grass in Lu Qing’s hand is the only plant that emits white light that he has found around the courtyard.
What is this, a game interface?
Lu Qing remembered some of the running games he occasionally played in his previous life.
After thinking for a while, he waved his hand: “Xiaoyan, come here.”
“Brother, what’s wrong?”
The little guy ran over happily.
“Brother, let me see you.”
Lu Qing helped the little guy remove the dry grass stuck on his head, and his eyes fell on her face.
After a while, a faint white light appeared on Xiaoyan’s body, and a line of words appeared above her.
[Lu Xiaoyan: A human cub, female.]
What a crappy description!
Several black lines appeared on Lu Qing’s head.
But he continued to look.
After a while, another line of words appeared.
[Poor human cub, she seems a little malnourished.
Lu Qing paused, looking at the withered, yellow hair on the little creature’s head, a pause of silence.
“Brother, are you ready?”
Xiaoyan asked innocently, tilting her head. “Yes, I am .
Xiaoyan will definitely be a great beauty when she grows up.”
Lu Qing ruffled the little creature’s hair, saying with a touch of pity.
Xiaoyan tilted her head. “What does a great beauty mean?”
“Haha, you’ll know when you grow up.”
Hearing the little creature’s innocent words, Lu Qing’s mood brightened.
Regardless of the future, the most important thing right now was to take good care of this little creature, who depended on him for everything.
This was the original owner’s greatest remaining wish before his death.
To survive in this strange world, he had to rely on his inexplicable supernatural powers.
With this in mind, Lu Qing picked up the cowbone grass and placed it in front of Xiaoyan.
“Xiaoyan, do you know what this grass is and what it’s good for?”
Xiaoyan looked at the plant with small blue flowers, frowning and pondering for a moment, then shook her head.
“I don’t know, but Grandpa Zhang’s big cow seems to like eating this grass.”
Seeing that Xiaoyan didn’t know, Lu Qing laughed. He was also confused.
Even the original owner’s memory didn’t have any information about cow bone grass, and he actually expected a child of only a few years old to know.
But Xiaoyan’s next sentence made him stunned.
“Brother, if you want to know what this grass is, you can ask Grandpa Chen. Grandpa Chen loves these flowers and plants the most. He also likes to use those flowers and plants to boil bitter water for us to drink.”
When Xiaoyan said this, she didn’t know what she thought of, and her whole face wrinkled.
Grandpa Chen?
Lu Qing recalled in his memory, and soon, the image of a kind and thin old man appeared in his mind.
Oh, it’s the old doctor respected by the villagers.
Doctor?
Lu Qing’s heart moved.
According to the description in the note, cow bone grass is undoubtedly a medicinal herb. I wonder if old doctor Chen knows how to use it.
“Xiaoyan, did Grandpa Chen come to see my brother when he was sick?”
“He did. He was sleeping the whole time. No matter how much I called him, I was scared and kept crying. Then Grandpa Chen came and examined me. He said I was sick, something like a cold. He made me a bitter potion and told me to drink it. A day later, I woke up.”
At this point, Xiaoyan suddenly exclaimed, “Grandpa Chen is amazing! My brother only drank a bowl of bitter potion and he recovered!”
Lu Qing was silent.
He was the only one who knew that the medicine prescribed by Doctor Chen hadn’t saved the boy’s life.
But now he remembered that while he was unconscious, he did have a vague feeling that someone had poured something into his body, which warmed his chilly body and helped him survive the difficult period of merging consciousness.
Otherwise, with his frail body, it’s uncertain whether he would have woken up successfully.
So, this Doctor Chen was truly capable and had done him a favor.
Lu Qing was pondering this when he suddenly felt a gaze. He looked down and saw Xiaoyan looking at him.
“What’s wrong, Xiaoyan?”
“Brother, Xiaoyan is hungry.”
Lu Qing was also hungry.
He hadn’t eaten enough to begin with, and the half bun he had eaten earlier had long since been digested.
However, he had noticed that there was no food left at home.
The rice jar was so clean that even mice wouldn’t bother to patronize it. If it weren’t for Grandpa Zhang next door, Xiaoyan would have starved to death during his two days in a coma.
Thinking of this, Lu Qing remembered that he should thank Grandpa Zhang and Doctor Chen. Without their care, neither of them would have survived.
But the family was truly too poor now, with nothing left in the house, and they couldn’t even offer a thank you gift.
It would be better to find a way to fill their stomachs first and express their gratitude later.
But where would they get food?
Most of the family’s land had been sold by the original owner to bury their parents.
The little that remained was neglected and yielded little.
Therefore, digging for food in the fields was hopeless for the time being.
Far-flung water cannot quench a nearby fire. Even if they tried to plant now, it would be too late. Before the crops could grow, they would starve to death.
After pondering for a moment, Lu Qing went into the room where the original owner’s parents lived. After searching for a while, he finally found an iron needle and some twine in a small box.
The iron needle was much thicker than the embroidery needles of his previous life and looked quite tough.
Lu Qing took the needle out, calcined it over fire a few times, then bent it into a hook with a wooden chopstick. He then took out some twine and carefully twisted it into a slightly thicker, tougher twine, which he then tied to the iron hook. He
then cut a tough bamboo from the thicket behind the house and tied the other end of the twine to it.
Finally, he tied a piece of dead wood to the twine above the hook to serve as a float.
Thus, Lu Qing had made a simple fishing rod.
