Chapter 64: Waking up, aggrieved look

“Young Master, Young Master!”

The Wei family’s chief steward noticed the young master’s eyelids fluttering and couldn’t help but call out softly.

Finally, at his call, the young master slowly opened his eyes.

At first, they were dazed, but after a long moment, they gradually regained consciousness.

“Where am I?”

“Young Master, you’re finally awake!”

The Wei family’s chief steward’s face was filled with excitement, almost tears.

“Uncle Hai?” The young master turned his head, surprised. “Why are you here? And why am I lying here?”

The young master tried to get up, but as soon as he moved, he felt a sharp pain, causing him to cry out in pain and break out in a cold sweat.

“Don’t move. Your wound hasn’t healed yet. Be careful not to break it again.”

Doctor Chen gently held him down, then took out a silver needle and pricked him several times.

With this help, the young master’s pain was greatly relieved, and he slowly regained consciousness.

“Who are you? And, Uncle Hai, why am I in so much pain?”

“Young Master, don’t you remember anything? Guard Li and the others said you accidentally fell into a ravine in the mountains, your stomach was cut open by rocks, and you were in critical condition. It was only thanks to this old doctor, Dr. Chen, that you were saved,”

the Wei family’s chief steward said slowly.

He had never fully believed Guard Li and the others’ story.

Now that the young master had woken up, he could ask for clarification.

“In the mountains, fell into a ravine…” Young Master Wei struggled to recall.

Finally, he remembered what happened before he lost consciousness.

“Yes, Guard Li and I went into the mountains, hoping to personally find a special birthday gift for Dad.”

“In the mountains, I encountered a very special little black beast. I told Guard Li and the others not to interfere and to catch it myself.”

“I didn’t expect the beast to be so agile. I couldn’t catch it. We chased it until we reached a cliff. Seeing it about to jump, I jumped after it in a fit of anxiety. I don’t remember much of what happened next.”

The Wei family’s chief steward was fine with these words, but Old Doctor Chen’s heart skipped a beat.

The little black beast that Young Master Wei was talking about sounded a bit like the little beast that used to beg for fish from Lu Qing.

“So, Guard Chen and the others weren’t lying,” the Wei family’s chief steward nodded secretly.

If those guards had lied in the slightest, they would have faced unbearable punishment.

Now, while they still faced punishment, they were at least safe.

“By the way, Uncle Hai, you just said my stomach was cut open?”

At this moment, Young Master Wei suddenly realized what was happening, a look of fear on his face, and he tried to get up to check his stomach.

However, the Wei family’s chief steward, this time on guard, gently held him down.

He soothed him gently, “Young Master, don’t panic. Your stomach wound is not serious. It will heal with some rest.”

“But, but, you just said my stomach was cut open!”

Young Master Wei’s face was still filled with fear.

He couldn’t imagine what it would be like to have his stomach cut open.

How could someone survive with their stomach cut open?

The Wei family’s chief steward could only offer gentle comfort.

Fortunately, Young Master Wei was weak, and after waking up for a while, he fell back into a deep sleep.

When the news of the young master’s awakening spread outside, the Wei family guards cheered.

Guard Li and the others were especially relieved, a heavy weight lifted from their hearts.

The young master’s awakening meant his life was safe.

Although they could not escape punishment, their lives were saved.

As for Ma Gu, he almost cried with joy when he heard the news.

God has mercy on him. Since the young master Wei came to him, he has not had a good night’s sleep.

Last night, he did not dare to rest at all, for fear that something would happen in the middle of the night and bring bad news.

Now he finally heard some really good news. The pressure in his heart was lifted. Even he, a strong man in the muscle and bone realm, felt his hands and feet weak and almost collapsed to the ground.

“Old Doctor Chen, my young master was able to survive this time, all thanks to your miraculous hands.

Our Wei family is very grateful for this.” “I have sent someone to report the matter here to the head of the family. Soon, our Wei family will present a generous gift.”

The chief steward of the Wei family bowed deeply to the old doctor again.

Having witnessed the young master’s condition before waking up, Chief Steward Wei knew full well that the young master’s survival this time was entirely thanks to this old doctor, who had dragged him back from the brink of death.

If, as those idiots had said, they had intended to take the young master back to the city, he would have likely collapsed halfway there.

“That’s not necessary. I was simply fulfilling my duty as a physician,” the old doctor waved his hand dismissively.

“Doctor Chen truly possesses a compassionate heart,” the Wei family chief steward exclaimed.

No wonder even the county magistrate praised this old doctor so highly. He was truly extraordinary, his demeanor surpassing even the many renowned physicians in the prefectures and the capital.

“Old Doctor Chen, my young master has awakened. When can he return home?”

The old doctor thought for a moment and said, “Not yet. He’s still weak, and the wound on his abdomen hasn’t healed yet. Even the slightest movement could cause the wound to rupture and bleed profusely.”

“He needs a few more days of rest, until his strength has recovered and the wound has scabbed over, before he can return home.”

The Wei family’s chief steward was naturally convinced by the old doctor’s judgment.

He immediately said, “Then we will trouble you for a few more days.”

“That’s all right, but my place is small, and I’m afraid I can’t afford so many rooms for you all to stay.”

“How dare I trouble you so much, old doctor? I’ll have everyone else disperse and find their own accommodations. I’ll stay here alone,” the Wei family’s chief steward said immediately.

“That’s fine. I can manage to furnish one or two guest rooms here, but my humble abode is quite simple. Just don’t mind, Chief Steward.”

“How dare I?”

“Then I’ll have my disciple prepare a room for you.”

The Wei family chief steward then went outside to instruct the guards, explaining that the young master needed to recuperate for a few days.

Some of them would return to the mansion, while others would stay with Ma Gu, ready to serve at any time.

As for him, he would remain in the courtyard halfway up the mountain to care for the young master.

No one dared to question the chief steward’s words, and the Wei family guards soon dispersed, and the courtyard gradually returned to peace.

Ma Gu, however, was in trouble. The thought of a group of Wei family guards moving into his residence made him nervous again.

However, he dared not refuse, so he reluctantly went to make arrangements.

“Master, the guest rooms are ready.”

Lu Qing, having prepared a room as instructed by his master, came forward to announce it.

“Thank you, young master,”

Chief Steward Wei looked at Lu Qing with a look of surprise.

Previously, he had been distracted by the young master’s affairs, and hadn’t paid much attention to anything else.

Only now did he realize that the old doctor’s disciple, at such a young age, had already reached the Qi and Blood Realm.

With such talent, even in that prefecture, he would be considered a genius.

“General Manager?”

Old Doctor Chen, noticing the Wei family’s general manager’s gaze, called out.

The Wei family’s general manager, regaining his compliments, praised him, “It’s true that a master teacher produces a master student. Your disciple, old doctor, is truly extraordinary. At such a young age, he’s already achieved such remarkable success in the martial arts.”

“My humble disciple was simply lucky. He had a few fortuitous encounters and a chance breakthrough. To receive such praise from the general manager is a blessing for him,”

the old doctor said modestly, though his expression couldn’t conceal its satisfaction.

“Haha, old doctor, you’re too modest.”

General Manager Wei laughed, but he secretly wondered if the thank-you gift from the mansion would also include the old doctor’s disciple in the consideration.

Lu Qing remained silent, maintaining his duty as a disciple.

Only after the two finished their conversation did he respectfully say, “Master, I’ve prepared breakfast and placed it in the kitchen. Also, I’d like to go home.”

He had been busy all day and all night in the courtyard halfway up the mountain, and he had no idea what was happening back home.

More importantly, he hadn’t returned to feed the little black creature last night, and he had no idea how it was doing.

If he got angry and tore the house apart, it would be a crime.

“Go ahead. You’ve been busy for so long. Go back and get some rest. The young master’s condition has stabilized, and constant monitoring is no longer necessary,” the old doctor nodded.

Lu Qing then excused himself and went to the old doctor’s room, where he picked up the still-sleeping Xiaoyan.

The Green Turtle Stone was truly remarkable. Despite

the commotion in the courtyard last night, Xiaoyan hadn’t woken up, sleeping soundly in her room, as if she wouldn’t wake until her hour.

Lu Qing didn’t wake her, but simply carried her down the mountain.

Upon returning home, Lu Qing immediately checked the front door.

Finding it undamaged, he breathed a sigh of relief.

It seemed the little black beast hadn’t gotten angry and tore down his house.

Reassured, Lu Qing opened the door and was about to enter the house.

Suddenly, he felt something was wrong.

He subconsciously raised his head.

Then he saw, in the corner of the eaves beam above his head, a pair of bright, large eyes, looking at him with grievance.
