Volume 1, Chapter 32 – Since It’s Come to This, Let’s Eat First

The steam gradually dispersed, revealing a Prefects’ Washroom that looked as though a typhoon had just swept through it.

Stella lowered her eyes and gradually became aware of a scorching presence radiating faint heat from her palm.

Then, little by little, that heat stirred a strange craving within her. Something seemed to be struggling to burst out of her chest.

Stella tried clenching her fist, feeling the power that belonged uniquely to Cheryl Valentine.

A thirst for blood, an affinity for magical power, and a tyrannical desire for domination engraved into the very marrow of her bones.

Stella secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

The succubus potion had taken effect. The formula Inquisitor Itheria had given her really hadn’t been a scam.

According to the Inquisitor, an ordinary lower succubus potion could last for a week, but it could only simulate the most basic racial traits. With material collected from someone like Cheryl, who possessed the bloodline of a prestigious family, the effect was obviously on an entirely different level.

At least for the time being, she wouldn’t have to worry about exposing herself because she didn’t seem enough like a succubus.

‘…Come to think of it, the formula the Inquisitor gave me was way too useful.’

Stella looked at the wisp of scarlet demonfire dancing at her fingertip and quickly realized there was a problem.

No matter what, the effects of the succubus potion were limited. Fundamentally, she was still human, not a proper succubus capable of regenerating her own magical power.

“By a rough estimate, rebuilding it will probably cost around three thousand five hundred and sixty-seven Abyssal gold coins. Of course, it may be even more.”

The sound of light, unhurried footsteps approached. Mara stepped over the shattered tiles and puddles covering the floor and walked up to Stella.

Stella’s heart instantly went half cold.

Her mind raced as she tried to convert the loss into the exchange rate of the Human Realm, then convert that into the potato yield of her countryside monastery.

She gave up halfway through because the number was obviously so enormous that even if she sold herself to succubi as a laborer for a hundred years, she still wouldn’t be able to pay it off.

The Inquisitor had even cut off her living expenses. There was no way she would reimburse Stella for damages like this. Besides, Stella’s persona was supposed to be from a fallen succubus family. Where was she supposed to get three thousand five hundred and sixty-seven Abyssal gold coins?

Should she just play dead on the spot or refuse to pay?

“How do you feel, Stella?” Mara reached out and tidied the lock of hair beside Stella’s ear that had now turned completely red.

“…Awful. The medicine was too strong.” Stella raised her head with difficulty and answered honestly.

“Hehehe… Is that so?”

Mara laughed in delight.

‘Red magical power, and such a tyrannical aura…’

Stella’s background was even more interesting than she had imagined.

Mara took off her black silk bathrobe and draped it over Stella, covering the demonic markings on the girl’s body as they slowly faded away.

“Get some proper rest, my little genius. Don’t worry about the compensation. Destroying this washroom was more than worth the price.” Mara turned around, the smile at the corners of her lips growing deeper. “Judging from the current situation, your suppressed bloodline talent has been forcibly awakened. The process was a little rough, but the result is perfect.”

Hearing that she wouldn’t have to pay compensation really did make Stella feel much more relaxed.

Mara seemed to remember something and turned her head slightly, the tassel earring beside her cheek swaying gently.

“Speaking of which, I remember you have a duel with that little girl from the Valentine family?”

Stella nodded stiffly.

Right now, all she wanted was to eat dinner, then immediately return to her dormitory and lie down. She had absolutely no desire to bring up that deadly duel.

If it isn’t exciting enough, I’ll be disappointed~”

After all, it was a civil war within the Valentine family.

What could possibly be a more delightful sideshow than watching two descendants with the same blood flowing through their veins slaughter each other in the arena?

Mara licked her red lips.

She was now looking forward even more to the bloodline inspection after Principal Gehenna returned.

She desperately wanted to verify exactly which branch of the Valentine family the girl named Stella belonged to.

Was she the illegitimate daughter of that lunatic family head?

Or was she from some exiled branch?

Taking Stella as her student really had been the best decision Mara had made in the past several hundred years.

Stella Darkfallen was simply far too interesting.

The corner of Stella’s mouth twitched.

Vice Principal Mara’s attitude was exactly as she had imagined.

Stella rubbed her shriveled stomach and let out a long sigh.

‘Forget it.’

‘Since things have come to this, I might as well eat first.’
