Volume 1, Chapter 37 – Your Evil Obsession Really Is Frighteningly Deep
The night wind swept up the dead leaves on the ground, sending them rustling through the air.
“I was wondering what you were doing, deliberately sneaking out here with a human slave.”
Remedios raised a slender finger and lightly tapped her chin.
“But with just a little thought, it’s obvious what you’re plotting.”
“Your intentions are so easy to see through, Stella.”
“Or do you simply not care how risky what you’re doing is?”
Stella had a bad feeling.
She had clearly confirmed that no one was around, yet Remedios had been sitting leisurely atop a tree, her platinum-blonde hair swaying gently beneath the moonlight. Her skill at scouting the area was even more practiced than a thief’s. It was practically textbook-level.
In any case, she had to explain this clearly.
Stella’s mind raced as she tried to come up with an excuse.
Say her hand slipped?
Or that the chain was poor quality?
…Who was she trying to fool?
No succubus with a functioning brain would believe that. Especially not a succubus like Remedios, whose trait was Hundredfold Wisdom.
The situation right now was that she, Stella Darkfallen, had been caught red-handed by Remedios while secretly releasing a slave.
There was no arguing her way out of it.
“Just as I guessed.”
Remedios closed the thick diary, light gleaming within her aqua-blue eyes.
“You’re playing a hunting game, right? Hehe, I liked playing that when I was little too. Stella, our tastes really are alike.”

“…What?”
“Deliberately undoing the restraints and giving your prey false freedom and hope, then transforming into the most terrifying predator and hunting them down just when they think they’ve escaped with their life.”
“Uh, actually…”
“Simple physical torture really is too crude. That’s menial work only lower succubi would do.”
Remedios gave Stella no chance to interrupt and simply nodded to herself.
“For a cleric with such unwavering faith, only by completely crushing her mentally can you make her obediently become a plaything in the palm of your hand. Stella, you really are a master at manipulating people’s hearts.”
Stella stared at Remedios, her aster-purple eyes filled with bafflement.
It seemed there was absolutely no need for her to explain anything.
Remedios had already completed the logic for her.
‘Smart succubi really are easy to get along with.’
‘This is pretty good.’
“However, as your accomplice, I do need to remind you of something.”
Remedios turned around and gazed toward the pitch-black, unfathomably deep forest.
Moonlight could not penetrate the twisted, interwoven canopy. The dense darkness resembled an enormous open maw, silently waiting for prey to walk straight into it.
“The Blasphemous Forbidden Forest is very dangerous. This isn’t a suitable place for us to play cat and mouse.”
Remedios warned her solemnly.
“Stella, I understand that you want to have fun. But even for you, I wouldn’t recommend playing such an interesting game inside the Blasphemous Forbidden Forest. You should stop here. Just pretend you never had that toy. Let’s start studying dark cursecraft.”
“And the direction she ran in leads toward the depths of the Blasphemous Forbidden Forest.”

Remedios’ voice softened.
“You should know that not only do powerful mutated demonic beasts live there, but the terrifying Lord of the Forest also makes its lair within.”
“Although we succubi are a higher species, to the ravenous demonic beasts inside the Blasphemous Forbidden Forest, the pure magical power within our bodies is like bait constantly giving off a sweet fragrance in the darkness. If they capture us even around the outskirts…”
Remedios paused.
“They’ll use every possible method to stimulate their prey’s senses, draining every trace of magical power from their body little by little.”
Stella’s fingers curled slightly.
In other words…
“Oh, right.”
As though remembering something, Remedios added.
“If it’s that direction… then it’s most likely the nest of magic-devouring worms.”
“…W-Worms?”
Stella’s voice was not nearly as steady as she had imagined.
“Mhm. They’re an extremely enthusiastic communal demonic beast mentioned in the Magical Beast Taming and Beastmaster Competitions textbook. I previewed the material.”
Remedios raised an index finger.
“Their favorite thing is burrowing inside their prey’s body and slowly enjoying them. And that nun, although she has lost her sacred blessing, her constitution is still sensitive. If she falls into a worm nest…”
Remedios covered her mouth and giggled softly.
“I’m sure it’ll be quite a beautiful sight.”
Stella felt her throat go dry.
She had only wanted to release Lainia and have her hurry back to the Human Realm. Who could have known that the girl would gather all her strength and charge straight into the depths of the Blasphemous Forbidden Forest?

‘Oh… crap.’
She had indirectly killed someone.
And in an excruciatingly brutal way at that.
If she did nothing now, that idiot nun really would die in there.
And it would be the kind of death that wouldn’t even leave an intact corpse behind.
She could not simply stand by and watch a sister who believed in the same Lord as she did suffer such a horrific fate because of her negligence.
Absolutely not.
Stella took a deep breath and coldly uttered two words.
“Move aside.”
Remedios froze.
Stella did not spare her another glance. She strode forward and charged directly into the dark forest before her.
The wind howled past her ears as branches tore at the hem of her expensive academy uniform.
‘Lord.’
‘Please bless that idiot nun so she doesn’t run too quickly, but also doesn’t die too quickly.’
‘If Lainia truly died here because of my stupidity…’
Stella bit down hard on her lower lip.
‘Then I truly would never be able to forgive myself.’
Although her public image right now was that of a thoroughly evil succubus who possessed the privilege to torture students, had seduced the young lady of a prestigious family into kneeling, was suspected of cursing a classmate with a voodoo doll, had broken into the restricted section of the library, had vastly exceeded the requirements of her mind-control assignment, owned a human slave and publicly walked her like a dog, and even studied dark cursecraft at the edge of the Blasphemous Forbidden Forest late at night…

Stella swore.
She really was still a Saintess devoted wholeheartedly to doing good.
She had absolutely no intention of killing anyone.
Nor did she have any desire whatsoever to become a murderer.
Remedios stood quietly where she was, watching that streak of silver vanish into the darkness.
The night wind lifted her long platinum-blonde hair, while the blue ribbon danced beneath the moonlight.
She opened the diary in her hands, and the quill scratched softly across the pages.
“Ignoring the dangers of the Blasphemous Forbidden Forest just to continue your hunting game?”
“Stella Darkfallen… or should I call you Stella Valentine?”
Beneath the moonlight, the girl closed the diary and hugged it against her chest.
“Your evil obsession really is frighteningly deep.”
As for Heart-Piercing Bone-Gouging…
They could talk about that after Stella Valentine came back.
Translator Note
Swore to the Lord after reciting all those public image are not convincing at all, Stella xD
