Chen Yichen looked between the others, genuinely puzzled by their reactions. He glanced down at his bowl, then toward the old woman, apparently unable to understand what he had said wrong.

Minghao slowly lowered the hand he had raised to his face, his expression tight from trying to hold back his anger.

Yuexin continued eating, though her shoulders remained tense. As for Chen Xiaoyu, she had gone quiet as well, their chopsticks paused above the bowl and none of the three said anything.

They simply exchanged brief looks, each trying their best to suppress the urge to drag Yichen outside and beat some sense into him.

The old woman, however, seemed more interested in his answer than their reactions.
