Chapter 72:The fall.

Minghao was still examining the markings when the ground beneath his feet gave a faint tremor.

He stopped speaking.

"Did you feel that?" Yuexin asked.

Xiaoyu had already lowered her gaze toward the ground. A moment later, a low rumble travelled through the ridge. The stone slab beside the entrance shifted, sending a shower of grey dust down the slope.

Yichen instinctively stepped away, but the ground beneath him suddenly sank.

"Wait!"

His foot slipped into a gap that had not been there a moment earlier. He grabbed at the edge, catching a handful of loose soil, but the ground continued to collapse beneath him.

Minghao reached for his arm while Yuexin lunged forward to grab his other shoulder. Xiaoyu moved at almost the same time, reaching for Yuexin's sleeve in an attempt to keep her from being pulled forward.

For a brief moment, all four managed to hold on.
