Feng Si?
She was the one who escaped before—the red-haired female.
They exchanged a look, and Feng Huan, realizing they were talking about Feng Si, narrowed her malicious eyes and said decisively:
"Impossible. How could she ever catch the King’s eye! She’s just a low-level female. If she dared to run away, she would have died long ago in the forest, eaten by Wanya worms!"
Feng Lian thought that made sense.
Her father was a male beast of the Fire Tiger Clan, a captain of the Cang City garrison. When he was alive, their territory was one of the best in Cang City.
Back then, the forest was teeming with prey, like a mountain of meat. But after her father died, the forest at night became a terrifying place.
’So, never mind how dangerous the forest is at night—even male beasts won’t travel alone. How could a weak female like Feng Si have survived? I shouldn’t overthink it. There are many red-haired races. Besides, the King would never appear in a place as remote as Cang City.’
After thinking it over and over for a long time, Feng Lian finally felt relieved.
...
The hover car was fast. Inside the comfortable cabin, there wasn’t the slightest bump as it flew. It glided unimpeded all the way to Boman Gate Island, not stopping as it continued toward the other side of the island.
About half an hour later, it stopped on the lawn in front of a white villa at the edge of the island.
The three-story villa, with its white spires, was surrounded by a courtyard full of green trees, shrubs, and flowers, emphasizing a style that blended with nature.
It was located in a shaded, north-facing spot that the sun couldn’t reach at this time of day. Being close to the river as well, the temperature was a bit chilly for someone wearing only a single layer of clothing.
Afraid Yun Duo would get cold, Feng Si hurried into the house as soon as she got out of the car.
Seeing this, the sub-females behind her looked slightly panicked and quickly got out of the car to follow her inside.
"Lady Qing Ci, I do apologize. You arrived a bit late, and most of the houses at the Boman Gate Institute are already occupied." Hu Fei explained nervously, hurrying into the living room after her.
She had noticed Feng Si glance at the line of sunlight outside the courtyard when she got out of the car, and she instantly understood, rushing over to explain.
As a Life Guide for the Boman Gate Institute, she couldn’t let this black-haired female feel she was being slighted and thus grow resentful.
Feng Si surveyed the exquisitely and luxuriously decorated house, then sat down on a soft, cream-white sofa by the floor-to-ceiling window. She wasn’t about to blame anyone over a small matter like her accommodations.
She subtly placed a hand over the cub at her waist and said dismissively, "I’m tired. Just leave the luggage here; I’ll unpack it myself."
Hu Fei immediately waved to the subordinates carrying the suitcases. After watching them gently place the cases on the floor, she turned back and replied in a soft voice:
"We will take our leave now. Please get some rest. I will inform the Sacrificial Hall to come in seven days."
’A physical examination. It’s thoughtful of them to give me a few days to rest, but it still has to be done.’
Feng Si gave a noncommittal nod.
Hu Fei then raised her wrist, tapped on a light screen, and a cold, grey robot about half a person’s height glided out from a corner of the room.
She pointed to the robot standing beside her and continued, "Your F22 villa comes with a robotic butler. If you need anything, please feel free to call me anytime."
With that, Hu Fei quickly led the four sub-females out of the room, and the main door closed tightly behind them.
After they had all left, Feng Si turned to look at the humanoid robot. It was only about waist-high to her. ’Such a non-threatening, child-like height,’ she thought.
She breathed a sigh of relief, her gaze meeting the large, square screen on the robot’s head.
’This is the main city of the Southern Wilderness, after all. So much more technologically advanced than Nantong City...’
"Master, I am F22. What are your instructions?" The cold, electronic voice of the robot echoed in the living room. As a housekeeping robot equipped with a super-intelligent brain, F22 had precisely captured its master’s gaze, and its glowing screen flickered.
Feng Si was taken aback for a moment. "Hm? Help me take the luggage to the bedroom."
"Acknowledged." F22 glided over to the two suitcases. Its two mechanical arms grabbed the handles and lifted them with ease before heading toward the stairs.
Seeing this, Feng Si got up and followed. Not knowing the layout of the house, she let the robotic butler lead her smoothly to the bedroom, had it put down the luggage, and then dismissed it.
The first thing she did upon entering the room was draw the curtains on all four windows. Then she turned on the lights—the crystal chandelier, the wall sconces, and the table lamps—illuminating the room as if it were day.
Next, Feng Si went to the bedside and carefully took her cub out of her pocket. "Yun Duo, we’ve arrived at our new home."
Feng Si gently placed Yun Chi on the bed, which was covered in soft bedding.
Once on the bed, Yun Chi turned his head and saw that only his mother was in the room. He immediately gave a happy roll on the mattress.
One moment, he was lifting his little body and stretching it taut; the next, his tail was curled up. After his stretch, he rested his little head on the back of Feng Si’s hand, which she had placed on the bed.
Yun Chi was a cub with an extremely strong constitution, and he usually loved to move about and explore new places—his paternal genes were to thank for that, after all.
But Yun Chi was also a good baby who loved his mother most of all. As long as Feng Si didn’t say he could come out, he wouldn’t make a fuss to do so.
During their recent days of travel in the car, he had spent most of his time in his mother’s pocket and never tried to come out on his own.
For a lively and active Black Chi cub, this was truly the mark of an incredibly well-behaved baby.
"We’ll be living here for a while. You can crawl around and get familiar with the place, Yun Duo~" Feng Si said softly, twisting her body and bending down to get closer to Yun Chi.
Yun Chi lifted his head from Feng Si’s fair, soft hand, letting out a milky hiss in response, but his little body didn’t move away.
To him, as long as his mother was there, it didn’t matter where they went.
Feng Si gave the little guy a gentle smile, picked up Yun Duo who was clinging to her hand, and got off the bed to head for the bathroom. "Want to take a bath? Let’s go to the washroom and run the water, and then you can help Mama check out the room."
"Hiss~" Cradled in his mother’s arms, the little Black Chi let out a cheerful sound of agreement.
...
「Meanwhile.」
Chi Jie, accompanied by his ministers of state, was in the grand deliberation hall of the Imperial Palace, signing a ten-year truce with the Northern Wilderness.
The representatives of the two sides sat opposite each other at a long table, with only the Beast King, Chi Jie, seated high above on the main throne at the far end.
He sat expressionlessly on a black crystal throne, his eyes slightly lowered, listening nonchalantly to the back-and-forth arguments about reparations between his ministers and the delegates from the Northern Wilderness.
As the defeated nation, the Beihuang Empire ultimately agreed to reparations of two territories, two hundred thousand jin of Gold, and half a deep-sea whale bone skeleton.
As for the two territories they ceded, countless small vassal states were situated between the two Empires. The Beihuang Empire had only recently seized these two pieces of land from other Chiefs in the first place, so they felt no pain in giving them away.
The Gold stung a bit, but for the entire Beihuang Empire, it was not a significant amount.
But that half a whale bone skeleton!
