Chapter 124: Chapter 124: I’m Taking This to the Higher-Ups

It was now displayed on the light screen, sitting in the castle’s backyard, sparkling.

Feng Si’s eyes lit up.

’That’s it!’

’The perfect gadget for getting around. With this, I can go wherever I want without any trouble. I won’t have to rely on anyone else for a ride anymore.’

Of course, having learned her lesson, Feng Si decided that before she went out, she would immediately post a job on the Light Net. She offered a high salary of one million coins a day to hire High-level male beast bodyguards.

The last time, her own carelessness had nearly put both her and her young cub in danger.

This time, she would not be so careless.

’I have to hire at least two High-level male beasts. They can stand guard by the wheat field while I harvest, and then help me carry the wheat back afterward.’

Feng Si planned everything out in her head as she placed an order for the burlap sacks she’d use to bag the wheat.

Feng Si had just posted the notice when Ying Kong, who had been keeping a close eye on her, immediately locked onto the message. He stared at the job posting on his light screen, completely stunned.

Help Wanted.

Requirements: Two High-level male beast security guards.

Job Description: Ensure the employer’s safety in the fields of the No.1 Collection Area. Approximately 8 hours per day. Note: Must be able to help the employer carry heavy items.

1,000,000 coins per day, paid daily.

Interested parties should send their resumes immediately.

Even combat-strong High-level male beasts need coins. A high-paying position like this is a rare find. Don’t think about it for too long—you know how quickly good opportunities can slip away!

Ying Kong: "..."

’I’m speechless. Are there gold nuggets in the No.1 Collection Area or something?!’

His brain had never felt so fried. ’This is a Special Rank Female! Not to mention the two hundred million coins the Empire gave her as a coming-of-age gift for a Special-level Female, didn’t the King also transfer a billion coins to her from his private treasury?’

’—So why is she going to a collection area?!’

Ying Kong stared at the light screen before him, his gaze vacant. He raised a hand and pressed a number from his recent calls.

’Look at what she’s doing!’

’I have to report this! I have to tell the King right now!’

...

「Inside the warship.」

"King, we have departed Sorin City. We are twenty thousand meters from Pantian City, with an estimated travel time of two more days." A deep voice echoed from a corner of the ceiling in the massive main cabin of the warship.

The disembodied report quickly faded.

In contrast, another, more urgent report started at the same time, its words spilling out in a rapid-fire burst that continued unabated.

"After her trip to Sinful Female Island yesterday, she didn’t go out again. But today, she suddenly posted on..."

Chi Jie, the sole master of the main cabin, sat in a comfortable chair listening to the report from the communicator. His long, slender legs, clad in black trousers, were crossed.

Short, choppy black hair hung casually over his forehead. When he moved his head slightly, his golden pupils shimmered brilliantly under the light, revealing their owner’s good mood at the mention of a certain name.

Though it was merely a subordinate’s report, a smile he wasn’t even aware of graced his lips.

「Two minutes later.」

After listening to Ying Kong’s continuous report, Chi Jie’s expression, for once, faltered for a few seconds.

’That day in the valley... the wild grain around where she stood was sparser than in other places. Was she collecting that?’

’Should I send someone to help her gather it?’

Chi Jie immediately dismissed the thought as soon as it arose.

’No.’

’Experience had taught him that in war, gathering enemy intelligence was the most crucial step. A single piece of misinformation could lead to a rash, arrogant decision on the battlefield, and defeat would not be far behind.’

’By the same token, if he made a decision without being absolutely certain of her intentions, it could easily backfire.’

"What’s wrong with her wanting to go to the No.1 Collection Area? There isn’t a single place on the South Desolate Continent she’s forbidden to enter." Chi Jie rose from his chair, walked to the warship’s observation window, and gazed down at the land below.

He gave the order casually:

"You go yourself. Follow all her instructions."

Ying Kong accepted the King’s new order, his eyes vacant.

That concluded his report for the day.

He felt the King was right. Feng Si just wanted to go out; what female would want to be cooped up on that shabby little island all day?

It was just that her choice of destination was a bit unusual. Instead of attending banquets for females or shopping at luxury jewelry stores, she had chosen nature. ’There’s nothing strange about that, is there?’

But deep down, even after witnessing the King give Feng Si special treatment time and again, he still felt a faint sense of discomfort.

’The King... he...’

’He’s really changed so much.’

He had seen it with his own eyes many times before: Special Rank Females madly pursuing the King back when he was the Young Master. The King wouldn’t even give them a glance, unflinchingly raising a hand to stop them ten meters away. Ultimately, no Special Rank Female ever got closer than nine meters.

’Is... Is his heat starting?’

Ying Kong guessed boldly.

’But that can’t be right,’ Ying Kong thought. ’Didn’t the King have a red-haired female a while ago?’

’The King’s Original Value had already dropped to a safe level. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have scoured every corner of the Empire to find that red-haired female; the King had even set out to find her personally.’

The scales in Ying Kong’s mind tipped back and forth, weighing Feng Si against the red-haired female he had never even met.

His hands, however, were not idle. He quickly contacted a subordinate, telling him to lead a team to the No.1 Collection Area to inspect the valley and then remain on standby.

Simultaneously, he quickly drafted up resumes for two Special-level Male Beasts and sent the two profiles to Feng Si’s account.

The information in the resumes was heavily redacted.

And, to ensure they were chosen, he made sure Feng Si could only receive the two applications he sent.

After posting the job, Feng Si didn’t remain idle either.

Taking advantage of the wait, she sat at the dining table and quickly read up on the hover car’s autonomous driving features, skimming through everything from starting the vehicle to setting a destination and parking.

After a short wait, she received two resumes that far exceeded her expectations. She waited a while longer, but still, only those two had applied.

Not wanting to waste any more time waiting, Feng Si immediately sent back an employment contract, setting the meeting point at the hover car station for the No.1 Collection Area in Pantian City.

She placed Yun Chi on her shoulder, underneath her clothes, skin against skin. The little one wrapped himself softly around Feng Si’s arm, his golden eyes half-lidded. Unable to fight off the sleepiness that came after drinking his fill of milk, he rested his head on his mother’s shoulder and dozed off.

Feng Si glanced at Yun Duo’s little head peeking out from her collar. With his long, slender body tucked inside her loose clothes, and with a heat-insulating, full-body cloak worn over top, it was impossible to tell from the outside that anything was resting on her shoulder.

With all preparations complete, Feng Si hurriedly gathered food and water. She had two robots, F22 and S2—who insisted on coming—follow her, with one of them carrying two large bundles of burlap sacks.

They went to the hover car parked in the backyard. She and the two robots—one still hugging the burlap sacks—boarded the vehicle with crisp, efficient movements and started the engine.

Of course, this was Feng Si, who had only skimmed the manual once and assumed her brain had it all figured out.
