Chapter 28: Chapter 28: Don’t Judge by Appearances

’Where did this country bumpkin sub-female come from.’

It was a well-known fact that Incubators were expensive. Most sub-females couldn’t afford one and would choose to incubate their eggs themselves.

The few who did buy one were usually brought by a Beastman who had saved up, or accompanied by parents who planned to gift it to them. But this young, shabbily dressed sub-female before them definitely couldn’t afford one.

’Just a poor sub-female here to gawk.’

As far as the rabbit-eared sub-female clerks were concerned, this sub-female had also interrupted their chat about the strongest Young Master in the Southern Wilderness!

Growing more and more annoyed, she curled her lip, rolled her eyes, and said rudely, "Just stand there and look. Don’t touch anything. You can’t afford to replace it if you break it."

"So annoying. If you can’t afford it, don’t come in. She’ll get the floor dirty, and I’ll have to clean it again," the other rabbit-eared sub-female grumbled to her colleague in a low, irritated voice.

’Am I being discriminated against?’

"What was that? I didn’t hear you clearly. Please say it again." Feng Si raised her hand, activating the video recorder on her comms device. Her eyes swept over the two rabbit-eared sub-females’ chests, noting their ID numbers.

The rabbit-eared sub-female didn’t understand what Feng Si was doing. She glared and snapped, "I said, for a poor sub-female like you, looking is a waste of time. You can’t afford an Incubator, so hurry up and get out." 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

The rabbit-eared sub-female’s arrogant, twisted expression was captured on the screen.

Feng Si walked over to the sofa in the middle of the room and sat down, casually placing her backpack beside her. She angled the screen on her wrist downward, the camera panning over to her open backpack, revealing it was stuffed full of five-hundred-denomination coins.

She then uploaded the video to the Motherhood Forum with the title: "SHOCKING! New Life Incubators Drives Away Customers, Says Sub-Females Don’t Deserve to Have Eggs."

It was noon, the perfect time for a leisurely nap. With their cubs asleep at home, the sub-female mothers had some free time to browse the Motherhood Forum and discuss child-rearing.

Amidst a sea of recently posted, typical thread titles like "[My cub hasn’t hatched after two months]," "[My cub won’t eat]," and "[My cub’s human form is so small],"

one post stood out: "SHOCKING!" It immediately caught their eye. They clicked on it, and as sub-females themselves, what they saw made them furious. They began to comment, their anger palpable:

"’Poor sub-females looking is a waste of time?’ Those two are sub-females themselves! Their attitudes are disgusting. I feel sorry for whatever Beastman ends up with them."

"You’re just poor sub-females working in a shop. What gives you the right to be so arrogant?"

"So poor sub-females don’t deserve to have eggs now? I hope you two never manage to lay an egg in your lives!"

"I saw the coins in the customer’s bag! She’s probably a new mother who isn’t confident about incubating, and they drove her away? Are new sub-females not allowed to buy Incubators now? Their hearts are truly vicious! This is basically murdering a cub in its egg!"

In less than a minute, the screen was flooded with comments tearing into the clerks. The two of them turned pale as they watched.

’Why didn’t this sub-female just say she had money earlier? It’s her fault we misunderstood!’

The rabbit-eared sub-female’s face froze, panic flickering in her eyes. She couldn’t stay seated behind the counter any longer and immediately ran out. "What are you doing! Delete that right now!"

The other sub-female also rushed out. "I never said that! Hurry up and delete it."

Feng Si leaned back against the sofa, looking up and enjoying the sight of the two rabbit-eared sub-females, who had been so high and mighty just moments before, now looking anxious and afraid.

She smiled. "Haven’t you ever heard that a paying customer is a Beast God? You mocked me. You can’t possibly think I’d just let it slide."

The rabbit-eared sub-female lowered her head, left with no choice but to apologize. "I was wrong. Which Incubator model would you like to see? I’ll bring it to you right away."

"I was blind, please forgive us," the other rabbit-eared sub-female pleaded. "Please, delete the video. If our supervisor sees it, we’ll definitely lose our jobs."

Seeing that the sub-female on the sofa remained unmoved, an idea sparked in the rabbit-eared sub-female’s mind. "Besides," she said, "you’re here because you must have a new cub on the way. That’s a joyous occasion! We should all be happy. There’s no need to be so petty."

’Great. Now they’re using the cub against me.’

The smile vanished from Feng Si’s lips. "That’s right," she said coldly. "You should be panicking. I’ll wait for your store owner to come out and give me a proper explanation."

The online post was causing quite a stir, and the store owner arrived quickly.

He was a gray, long-furred male rabbit, standing three meters tall in his beast form and about 1.8 meters in his human one. He was heavyset, and as he walked in, his terrifyingly crimson eyes scanned the people in the room.

He strode toward the person on the sofa. The two sub-females, eyes wide with terror, tried to explain, but he simply swung his hand and slapped them both across the face. Blood immediately trickled from the corners of their mouths. They clutched their faces in pain, not daring to speak.

Ignoring his injured employees, the owner turned to Feng Si and bowed deeply. "My apologies for giving you such an unpleasant experience, honored customer," he said sincerely. "We at New Life Incubators warmly and sincerely congratulate every sub-female on their journey to motherhood."

"The views of these two employees have tarnished the reputation of New Life. I will send them to the disciplinary squad." The owner’s attitude was impeccable. He looked at Feng Si and asked,

"If you would please delete the post, I will give you a fifty percent discount on any Incubator you choose. How does that sound?"

The owner’s words silenced the two rabbit-eared sub-females. They understood now that they weren’t getting out of this easily.

Feng Si glanced at the two clerks. The once-arrogant rabbit-eared sub-females now stood there with ashen expressions, their faces swollen and blood staining the corners of their mouths.

This was the only official brand-name Incubator store in Nantong City. If she left, her only options would be to buy a cheap, unlicensed product from a small shop, or to buy one secondhand.

She refused to do that.

’Why should my little cub have to make do with a secondhand or shoddy Incubator because of those two?’

’Would that be punishing them, or punishing my own cub?’

’If the temperature was off, I’d be the one crying in the end. After all, as a human, I have absolutely no idea how to hatch an egg.’

Feng Si took a deep breath. She decided not to press the matter further. In front of the owner, she raised her hand and deleted the post. The owner immediately posted a clarification.

Picking up her backpack, Feng Si walked to the wall behind the counter. She pointed to an Incubator sitting by itself on the highest shelf. "I want that one. The fully automatic, smart F1 Incubator."

The owner personally took it down and placed it in front of Feng Si. "This model has autonomous monitoring," he explained. "You just need to place the new egg inside, and the temperature and humidity will automatically adjust to the optimal environment for the egg’s species. The original price is 420,000 coins. For you, it’s 210,000. I’ll also include a complimentary non-slip egg mat woven from tiger fur."

Feng Si had had her eye on this model for a long time and had already researched all its functions online. Satisfied, she placed her backpack on the counter and glanced at the two rabbit-eared sub-females cowering in the corner. "Are they still employees here?"

The rabbit-eared sub-female, who had been trying to make herself invisible, whipped her head around. ’Is this sub-female... speaking up for me?’

The owner’s red eyes flickered. He couldn’t figure out what this customer was up to. "For now, I suppose."
