Chapter 65: Chapter 65: Search Every Inch of Land and Find Her

Ying Kong buried his head low, staring at the ground as a wave of infinite shame washed over him.

He swore this was the most difficult mission of his life.

Harder than leading an army into battle!

’More than three whole months—over one hundred and thirty days! Can you believe it? All just to find a single female, and to this day, still—’

"After that, there wasn’t a single lead on the female. It’s like she vanished into thin air. No one has seen her since," Ying Kong said, his face flushing bright red.

The Beastman warriors kneeling behind him were under immense pressure! They were formerly the vanguards of Young Master Jie’s Second Legion, victorious in every battle. Enemies would tremble at the mere mention of their names.

And yet here they were, after three damn months of searching for one female, without so much as a single hair to show for it.

’This is an embarrassment. A complete and utter disgrace to all beastmen.’

As Chi Jie listened to Ying Kong’s report, a heart-freezing chill radiated from beneath his long, raven-feather lashes. His resolute golden eyes flashed like ice, a chill that could freeze the very heart.

He toyed with the green Jade Pendant between his fingers. The green made his long, well-defined fingers look as pale as ice, a stark contrast. To an outsider, he looked to be in a fine mood, happy to have his Jade Pendant back.

Chi Jie even offered a silent, amused smile. But as he did, the aura he had been suppressing was suddenly and aggressively unleashed.

The palace was deathly silent. An immense, invisible pressure came crashing down, and despite the great distance, the kneeling crowd felt all their feathers stand on end.

Risking a fearful glance upward, they all watched the Beast King’s expression.

The Beast King’s mouth remained upturned in a smile, but none of the kneeling men felt any warmth in it.

The Beast King was furious.

Cold sweat trickled down their faces. A chill shot down their spines as a long-dormant, primal instinct flared to life: the hair-raising terror of being targeted by a predator in the wild, of hovering on the precipice between life and death.

"Summon Xi Zhu," Chi Jie ordered, his voice low.

A guard standing behind a pillar received the order and departed, but Ying Kong and his men, kneeling in the great hall, felt their hearts skip a beat.

Xi Zhu was a Land Beast general and the commander of the Second Legion. He had previously been the vice-commander, but was promoted when Chi Jie became the Beast King.

They had a pretty good idea why he was being summoned now.

Ying Kong sensed what was coming. At first, he felt the weight lift from his shoulders, but that was immediately followed by a surge of humiliation.

’Damn it! The land was never my strong suit!’

"Take your men and leave. Continue to stand guard in Cang City. Don’t return until you have news of her," Chi Jie commanded nonchalantly. No one below dared to utter a word of protest. Drenched in cold sweat, Ying Kong swiftly led his subordinates away.

Just as they left the great hall, Xi Zhu, commander of the Second Legion, appeared. His short gray hair stood on end, and with his thick lips, he looked like a prickly character.

"King." He respectfully raised a hand to his forehead and bowed to the Beast King. He was then assigned a new mission.

He took a drawing an attendant handed him. It was a portrait of a female, but aside from her characteristic red hair and pitch-black eyes, the rest of the drawing was blank.

’How am I supposed to find her with this?’

A hesitant expression appeared on Xi Zhu’s face.

"I permit you to mobilize the forces of the Second Legion. You must find her. I want you to turn over every stone to find her." Sitting on his throne, Chi Jie issued the command with a relaxed air, but a powerful, terrifying aura radiated from him.

Standing below, Xi Zhu’s small eyes twitched in fear. In his heart, he offered a moment of silence for the female.

’He had no idea what this female meant to the Beast King.’

’But he’d been chosen for the Young Master’s personal guard detail when Young Master Jie was just eight, and in all that time, he had never, ever seen the King this furious.’

’Even when facing provocations from the other two young masters, the Young Master had never given them a second glance.’

’He didn’t know what that female had done to the Young Master, but even if she was an Advanced Female of the highest nobility, her fate was likely sealed.’

Xi Zhu swiftly went to carry out the Beast King’s orders.

...

That day, Feng Si was looking at her communicator. It had taken four days just to get internet access authorized for one hundred cities, and she was deep in thought.

’Yang Wen was efficient enough, but applying for each city’s network permit individually and then activating personal access points one by one was just incredibly time-consuming.’

’She decided she wasn’t going to wait. The network in the most important location, Pantian City, was already online. She might as well get started while Yang Wen continued processing the other permits. That would make better use of her time.’

The technology of the Beast World was highly advanced. A simple wristband communicator packed all kinds of high-tech features.

When she first arrived, Feng Si hadn’t understood anything. She’d relied completely on online searches to learn about the Beast World, and by now, she knew the beastman network like the back of her hand.

It had social networks, video platforms, e-commerce sites... you name it. The only thing was, the content was almost exclusively about procreation, followed by the battles of male beasts. There were no celebrities, no entertainment, nothing related to just relaxing and having fun.

’No, maybe there was some.’

’Other than that, the most-searched videos related to females were probably the closest thing to "relaxation" the beastmen of the network had.’

To Feng Si, the online world here seemed stuck in an era of dry, serious news. It was like a vast, starry ocean just waiting for her to conquer.

Feng Si got excited just thinking about it.

She had already figured out a solution to the problem that had been troubling the City Lord the other day.

’As for how to make the pickled cabbage and Green Potato famous in a short time, what could possibly be better than live-stream shopping?’

Live-stream shopping.

’In the modern world, live-stream shopping was one of the most profitable sectors of the entertainment industry. Plus, if she starred in it herself, she could tie the Si Shi brand directly to her own persona. Then she wouldn’t have to worry about Niu Ding figuring out her methods and trying to deal with her again.’

Once she decided to start her food live-stream the next day, Feng Si immediately went to the marketplace and bought a stable, high-definition recording communicator, high-wattage incandescent lights, and decorative plants. She also custom-ordered a small cooking stove and a brand-new set of pots, bowls, and plates.

She chose an empty room next to her bedroom that had a large, floor-to-ceiling window. She planned to turn it into her streaming studio, decorated according to the locals’ nature-loving aesthetic.

The room was covered in green artificial turf. Two lush green trees were placed on either side of the floor-to-ceiling window. Bauhinia flowers were carefully arranged to wind across the ceiling, with clusters of purple blossoms hanging down, as beautiful as a wedding venue.

After Feng Si finished setting up the room’s background, she returned to her bedroom to check on the little egg.

Without taking a break, she went back to the living room and continued unboxing items to set up her studio.

At some point, Mao Qiu came over to settle the day’s coins with Feng Si after closing up her stall. She walked in, saw the living room overflowing with new things, and froze.

"Are you preparing to find a mate? Why else would you buy all this stuff?"

"More important than finding a mate," Feng Si replied with a smile, sitting cross-legged on the floor. She didn’t stop working, setting aside a newly unwrapped bowl to start on the next box.
