Chapter 235: So'Azag
Chapter 235: So'Azag
The next moment, the heartbeat sounded again, as if telling everyone that it was no illusion.
Immediately after, Bai Qiuyin struck down with her sword once more, aiming to slay him before he could revive.
But what shocked her was that no matter how finely she chopped the Imperial Capital Guild President into pieces, the heartbeat showed no sign of stopping.
Instead, it kept growing louder and heavier, until finally, it seemed as though everyone’s hearts were beating in unison with that sound!
Li Xueman furrowed her brows.
As a spirit, she had no heart, so the heartbeat did not affect her.
But judging by the human cultivators nearby, the sensation was far from pleasant.
She cast spell after spell, layering barrier after barrier to block out the heartbeat’s influence, wrapping everyone within—including the ghost cultivators.
After all, who knew whether something that could affect spirits might follow this heartbeat?
Better to defend against everything at once.
Watching the Imperial Capital Guild President, who had been sliced nearly into atoms, Bai Qiuyin knit her delicate brows, puzzled and confused by the sight.
Logically speaking, even a Demon Grand Duke should have died after being cut into such a state.
But this Imperial Capital Guild President—who knew what kind of power he had obtained—was still alive even in this ghastly form.
That was right.
Alive.
Bai Qiuyin could clearly sense life pulsing within those fragments, as if glue had bonded life itself to the Imperial Capital Guild President.
No matter what she did to him, he simply would not die.
And then…
Bai Qiuyin glanced at Weisasi, confused as to why he was still just standing there.
Was he not afraid she would actually kill his helper?
Or was he truly confident that the Imperial Capital Guild President could not die no matter what?
As she pondered, Bai Qiuyin suddenly noticed the fragments beside her rapidly adhering and piecing themselves together, as if attempting to form some shape, rather than remaining in their previous shredded state.
Seeing this, Bai Qiuyin raised her sword and struck down once more, preparing to shatter him again.
Though she did not understand what had happened to the Imperial Capital Guild President, it was better to keep him in this state.
That was what Bai Qiuyin thought, and that was what she did.
But as her longsword descended, the fragments suddenly accelerated their adhesion and merging.
Finally, just before her blade could land, a fleshy tentacle burst out from the mass and blocked her longsword outright!
Bai Qiuyin froze for a moment, then quickly recovered and tried to change her attack.
But that tentacle seemed to possess boundless strength.
It effortlessly lifted her longsword—and her entire body along with it—and hurled her away like a shooting star.
Fortunately, Li Xueman caught her in time, preventing her from truly becoming a meteor.
Otherwise, in this void where positions could shift at any moment, who knew how long it would take her to return.
Feeling her arms slightly numb from the tremendous force, Bai Qiuyin stared in disbelief at the mass of flesh.
She was a cultivator on the verge of the Harmony Realm.
Though she appeared slender and delicate, if she so wished, a single casual punch could collapse an entire mountain.
Yet someone like her had actually lost in a contest of strength?!
What on earth had happened to this man?
Bai Qiuyin stared grimly at the flesh mass, which continued to writhe and shift.
She was about to step forward and try to shatter the flesh again when suddenly, Weisasi appeared before her, blocking her path.
“Don’t move. Now let us all enjoy the descent of this ‘god.'”
Bai Qiuyin glanced at Weisasi standing in her way, then discreetly signaled her teammates with her eyes, telling them to destroy that “god.”
The others immediately understood and charged toward the mass of flesh.
Weisasi witnessed this but did not intervene.
Instead, he watched them with keen interest, as if anticipating what kind of fate awaited them.
“God? What exactly is this ‘god’ you speak of? And how did the Imperial Capital Guild President end up like this?”
Li Xueman stood beside Bai Qiuyin, frowning slightly as she looked at the flesh mass that bore no resemblance to any deity, and asked in confusion.
“A god is simply a god.”
Weisasi glanced at her.
Strangely enough, ever since seeing the Imperial Capital Guild President turn into that ghastly thing, he had suddenly stopped panicking, as if the problems in the real world had already been resolved.
Seeing this, Bai Qiuyin’s heart sank, but her expression remained unchanged.
She simply watched her teammates’ battle against the flesh mass while keeping Weisasi in check, preventing him from attacking them.
Weisasi glanced at the flesh mass, which had already grown numerous tentacles and was fighting against the many cultivators, and said with a light laugh:
“What is a god? Besides the beings you Eastern Radiance cultivators call immortals, in our Hell, a god is an existence formed from the gathered thoughts of countless beings.”
“Perhaps you believe a god should possess omniscient wisdom, omnipotent power, and the faith of billions.”
“But that is not so. That existence needs no wisdom, nor does it require anyone to worship it. As a collection of human thoughts, aside from possessing immense power, it acts according to the most primal instincts within those thoughts.”
As Weisasi’s words fell, Bai Qiuyin’s expression shifted dramatically.
“Feeding!”
“That is… feeding!”
She whipped her head toward where her teammates were.
At that same moment, a heart-wrenching, miserable scream pierced the void, causing even the small surrounding spaces to tremble under the outcry.
The one screaming was a human cultivator.
Bai Qiuyin remembered him.
His strength was fairly decent.
Even in that unprecedented battle earlier, he had caused no small amount of trouble for the Demon Grand Duke.
Yet this same man now had most of his body missing.
From his chest downward, it was as if he had been devoured by an abyssal maw.
The cross-section looked like it had been gnawed by razor-sharp teeth, leaving only half of his left arm and the upper half of his body above the chest.
The pain was so intense that even his facial features began to bleed, his expression twisted like a ferocious ghost.
What on earth had happened?!
Had that monster the Demon Grand Duke called a “god” done this?
What in the world had the Imperial Capital Guild President become?!
A thousand thoughts raced through her mind as Bai Qiuyin’s gaze swept across her surroundings, searching for the culprit responsible for reducing that cultivator to such a state.
But as her eyes scanned the area, she found nothing unusual—even the mass of flesh had vanished completely.
Yet Bai Qiuyin did not relax in the slightest.
She remained on high alert, watching her surroundings.
Suddenly, as if sensing something, she jerked her head upward.
Then, Bai Qiuyin saw it.
A beautiful woman.
An ornate, elaborate pure-white dress and a graceful, curvaceous figure made her look like a holy goddess.
But where her head should have been, there was a face with no features—only a writhing mass of grotesque, sickening tentacles.
A gap between the tentacles slowly split open, revealing a massive maw lined with fangs.
At the same time, Weisasi’s voice sounded from beside her.
“Allow me to introduce you all. This is Zoa Sagg of Hell.”
[Blood Banquet]
“A god.”
