Chapter 237: What Do You Mean, a Flying Head Monster?
Chapter 237: What Do You Mean, a Flying Head Monster?
Hearing that familiar voice, Ling Xiaoyou was startled for a moment, then a smile spread across her face.
She lifted her little head, looked at Bai Shuanglian, and nodded firmly, saying, “Mm!”
Given the relationship between the two, there was no need for lengthy explanations at a time like this—a single exchange of glances was enough to convey everything.
Bai Shuanglian had just defeated the enemies outside when she noticed the commotion at the Earth Vein Heart, so she rushed over to support Ling Xiaoyou.
She glanced at the Imperial Capital Guild President, who had frozen at her sudden appearance, and though her gaze held some surprise, she said nothing.
Bai Shuanglian shot Ling Xiaoyou a meaningful look, signaling that they should take care of this guy first, then destroy the Demon Grand Duke together.
Ling Xiaoyou naturally had no objections. She nodded her little head and stood solemnly beside Bai Shuanglian.
“Another one, and this time it’s that girl from the Bai Family.”
The Imperial Capital Guild President twisted his neck, producing a sharp crack from his bones, and asked without turning around: “Didn’t you say your subordinate’s strength was enough to hold off that girl? What’s the meaning of this?”
Weisasi shook his head with an unpleasant expression: “I have no idea.”
Weisasi fell silent for a moment. He was here at the Earth Vein Heart to erode the Seal, and naturally required protection—which was his butler’s role.
Although his Cultivation wasn’t particularly high, in this environment suppressed by Restrictions, along with the “Divine Flesh” he had been granted, he should have been more than enough to handle any intruders.
Yet unexpectedly, first Ling Xiaoyou, then Bai Shuanglian, and even the butler in the end had been eliminated. It was like having a dog he’d raised for a long time suddenly killed by someone. Although he hadn’t invested much emotion in that butler, it still left Weisasi in a foul mood—though, truthfully, his mood hadn’t been good since Ling Xiaoyou appeared here anyway.
The Imperial Capital Guild President glanced at his ally but offered no comment on the other’s ignorance.
He then turned his gaze to the two young women standing before him. After a moment’s thought, he chose not to attempt further persuasion, and instead stomped forward hard, charging at them like lightning. His fists, the size of sandbags, clenched tight with a sharp crack, as if the very air were being crushed in his grip.
Seeing this, Bai Shuanglian and Ling Xiaoyou didn’t panic. They had just quickly exchanged information, including the Imperial Capital Guild President’s condition.
Ling Xiaoyou extended her small hand, and countless Water Flows seeped up from the ground. On the Imperial Capital Guild President’s path, a massive Vortex was already spinning silently, its intense suction threatening to pin him in place.
Seeing this, the Imperial Capital Guild President let out a laugh. Knowing full well it wouldn’t work, she still insisted on using it—how persistent!
He was about to brute-force his way through the Vortex when he suddenly felt a chill at his feet, followed by a bone-piercing Heavenly Cold Frost spreading through his entire body as if freezing his very soul!
The Imperial Capital Guild President looked down at his body and discovered that, at some point, he had been encased in thick Soul-Freezing Ice Crystals, and the cold continued to invade him, stiffening his movements.
Looking around, he saw that the Water Vapor surrounding him had transformed into something like ice dust. The moment these particles touched his body, they burrowed into him like germinating spores, rapidly crystallizing thick layers of Ice both inside and outside his body.
If his physical constitution weren’t unimaginably strong, he would have already been defeated by just the first move!
The Imperial Capital Guild President set aside the arrogance he’d developed after gaining such immense Strength, and began to regard the two seriously as opponents.
“Wait, why is it only this Ling Xiaoyou? Where’s that girl from the Bai Family?”
Suddenly, as if realizing something, he whipped his head around and saw an Ice-Blue Longsword arcing down toward his neck in a brilliant trajectory!
It was Bai Shuanglian!
The moment the Imperial Capital Guild President had been trapped, she had already moved behind him, ready to deliver a lethal blow!
Seeing this, the Imperial Capital Guild President—an ordinary old man with no combat experience—was utterly terrified. Facing the incoming attack, he had no idea how to respond and instinctively tried to dodge.
With all his might, the thick Ice layer on his body trembled and cracked, but even so, there was no way he could break free in such a short time!
And so, the Sword fell.
Nothing unexpected happened. Bai Shuanglian decapitated the Imperial Capital Guild President with a single stroke.
His Head tumbled to the ground with a dull thud, and a torrent of blood sprayed from the severed neck, splashing onto the Ice—freezing solid before it could even flow.
Bai Shuanglian glanced at the body now collapsing from loss of control, nodded to Ling Xiaoyou, and raised golden flames in her hand, preparing to finish off the corpse with one more strike.
But suddenly, her expression shifted, and she retreated at lightning speed.
The next instant, a massive hand snatched at where she had been standing with terrifying speed. The sheer force of the grab caused the air to crack with a sonic boom. If Bai Shuanglian hadn’t reacted in time, that grab would have crushed her ankle to pieces.
Bai Shuanglian watched as the body rose again from the Ice, feeling both surprised and not particularly surprised.
If the enemy really could be killed that easily, that would have been far too strange. This was much more reasonable.
Ling Xiaoyou, standing nearby, stared at the scene in shock. She didn’t understand what was happening with the Imperial Capital Guild President—she only knew that he seemed to have formed some connection with the “God,” granting him an incredibly powerful body. But she had no idea he possessed the ability to survive decapitation.
“Where did you crawl out from—some Shen Gongbao?!”
The body fumbled around on the Ice, then picked up the Head: “Ahh… ahh…”
The Imperial Capital Guild President, held in his own hands, stared at the two. He seemed to want to say something, but with his throat severed, no matter what he tried, all that came out was a guttural “ahh, ahh.”
Seeing this, the Imperial Capital Guild President let out a soft sigh, and then suddenly, he manipulated his body to hurl his Head directly at the two of them.
The Head shot through the air like a cannonball. Even without actually striking them, the sheer force of the wind pressure sent Ling Xiaoyou’s hair flying.
“He’s just throwing his own head…”
Ling Xiaoyou suppressed the urge to voice her thoughts. She waved her small hand, and instantly a thick, viscous surge of Water wrapped around the Head.
Slowed by the Water’s resistance, the Head’s momentum gradually diminished until it finally came to a stop.
Then, Ling Xiaoyou looked toward the Imperial Capital Guild President’s direction and noticed a writhing motion at his neck. As if time were reversing, a brand-new Head rapidly grew out from the severed neck, like a sprout breaking through soil.
The Imperial Capital Guild President shook his freshly grown Head, as if still getting used to it:
“I’m still not quite used to this new body. When my Head gets cut off, I still instinctively think I’m dead.”
