Skinwalker Belle – Chapter 118 – Initial Strategy
A short while later, Sun Jing returned.
She was holding a neatly folded tracksuit and a pair of very clean-looking sneakers.
“Lei Jie, I brought them.”
Sun Jing’s cheeks were still flushed, as if she hadn’t yet recovered from her earlier embarrassment.
Lin Fan took them and glanced over them.
It was a very ordinary black tracksuit, but it was washed clean and carried the faint, fresh scent of soap.
It seemed this sweet and naive vice-captain was indeed a girl who valued cleanliness.
“The size should be about right, it’s just… it’s just that…” Sun Jing’s gaze started to drift again.
Lin Fan glanced at Sun Jing’s figure. Aside from the somewhat regrettable size of her chest, the proportions of the rest of her body were indeed quite similar to her own.
“Thank you for your trouble,” Lin Fan said, placing the clothes on the bed.
“No trouble, no trouble at all!” Sun Jing waved her hands hastily. “Lei Jie, you should go wash up. The hot water is available twenty-four hours a day.”
After speaking, she prepared to take her leave.
“Wait a moment.”
Lin Fan called out to her.
Sun Jing turned back, puzzled.
Lin Fan walked forward, opened her arms, and gently hugged her.
Sun Jing’s body instantly stiffened.
She could smell a cool, pleasant fragrance coming from Lei Jie, and feel the other woman’s soft body and warm embrace.
“This isn’t your fault.”
Lin Fan’s voice sounded by Sun Jing’s ear, as gentle as a feather brushing against the heart.
“You’ve already done well enough.”

“You saved so many soldiers. You are a hero of this base.”
“If your parents knew that their daughter was so beautiful and so strong here, they would definitely be proud of you.”
At this moment, the God-level charm talent was utilized to its fullest extent.
Every sentence struck precisely at the softest, most vulnerable parts of Sun Jing’s heart.
Tears once again streamed uncontrollably from Sun Jing’s eyes.
But this time, it wasn’t from grievance and pain, but from being moved and feeling relieved.
She hugged Lin Fan back tightly, as if she were grasping all the warmth in the world.
This older sister, whom she had only known for a day, had given her a sense of affirmation and security she had never felt before.
After a long while, Lin Fan finally let her go and reached out to wipe the tear stains from her face.
“Alright, go on now. Get some rest.”
“Mhm!” Sun Jing nodded vigorously. Her eyes were red, but her gaze was brighter than ever before.
“You too, Lei Jie! Good night!”
Sun Jing left, looking back every few steps.
The metal door slowly closed.
The gentle expression on Lin Fan’s face vanished in an instant.
She walked to the bedside, picked up the tracksuit, and the corner of her mouth curved into a subtle arc.
She took off the white qipao, which was stained with a bit of dust, along with the delicate silk stockings and high heels.
She tossed them casually by the bed.
Barefoot, she walked into the bathroom and turned on the shower.
The warm stream of water washed over her flawless body.

Droplets slid down her long, silver hair, past the elegant tip of her nose and her full, red lips, tracing over her delicate collarbones and that breathtaking curve, finally disappearing between her long, straight legs.
She closed her eyes, enjoying this rare moment of relaxation.
…
The next morning.
While Lin Fan was still asleep, the communicator in her room rang.
It was Sun Jing’s energetic voice.
“Lei Jie, are you awake? Do you want to go to the cafeteria for breakfast together?”
“I’m awake.”
Lin Fan answered lazily and sat up in bed.
Her silver hair cascaded down like a waterfall, reaching all the way to her thighs.
She undid the bun she had casually tied up the night before, letting her long hair fall freely behind her.
Then, she changed into the black tracksuit and sneakers that Sun Jing had brought.
The clothes fit perfectly. The soft fabric against her skin was much more comfortable than the qipao or a combat uniform.
She walked to the mirror.
The person in the mirror had moon-like silver hair and a pair of rainbow-colored eyes that swirled like nebulae.
But she was dressed in the simplest, most plain black tracksuit.
That divine and noble aura of someone who was above worldly matters was greatly diluted, replaced by a more youthful and approachable air.
She looked like a senior student, almost too beautiful, who had just walked off a university campus.
Lin Fan was very satisfied with this contrast.
She opened the door, and just as she expected, Sun Jing was already waiting outside.

The moment she saw Lin Fan’s new look, Sun Jing’s eyes lit up.
“Wow! Lei Jie! You look so good dressed like this!”
She praised her sincerely, walking a circle around Lin Fan.
“You look… you look several years younger all of a sudden!”
“I wasn’t old to begin with,” Lin Fan replied faintly.
“No, no!” Sun Jing quickly waved her hands to explain. “What I mean is, yesterday in the qipao, you were like a fairy from the heavens, someone to be admired from a distance. Today, like this, you feel… you feel like the big sister next door, so friendly!”
“Is that so,” Lin Fan said noncommittally.
“Let’s go eat.”
“Okay!”
Sun Jing happily linked her arm with Lin Fan’s, and the two walked side-by-side toward the cafeteria.
The base’s cafeteria was huge, large enough to accommodate several thousand people at once.
It was breakfast time, and the room was filled with soldiers in standard-issue combat uniforms. The atmosphere was quiet but not oppressive.
The moment Lin Fan and Sun Jing walked into the cafeteria, the air in the somewhat noisy room seemed to freeze for an instant.
Everyone’s movements came to a halt.
Countless gazes shot over in unison.
Their eyes held astonishment, curiosity, and a hint of disbelief.
The silver-haired goddess from yesterday, who had controlled two thousand monsters with a single thought as if she were a deity descended to earth, had actually changed into an ordinary tracksuit today?
And… she was walking arm-in-arm with their sweet and naive vice-captain, laughing and talking?
This huge contrast left everyone unable to process it.
“What are you looking at! Haven’t you seen a beautiful woman before!”

Sun Jing puffed out her cheeks like a little mother hen protecting her food, chiding the people around them coquettishly.
Only then did the crowd snap out of it. They all lowered their heads, pretending to focus on their food, but they couldn’t help but sneak glances in their direction from the corners of their eyes.
Lin Fan paid no mind to these gazes.
She followed Sun Jing straight to the food service window.
“Lei Jie, what do you want to eat? The meat buns and soy milk here are to die for!”
“I’ll have the same as you.”
“You got it!”
Soon, the two of them were carrying their trays to a table by the window.
“Lei Jie, don’t mind them. They’ve just never seen anyone as beautiful as you, that’s why… that’s why they’re like that,” Sun Jing explained on behalf of her comrades while taking small bites of her meat bun.
“I know.” Lin Fan took a sip of the soy milk. It was indeed quite good.
She could feel the invisible “God-level charm” aura silently influencing everyone in the cafeteria.
However, today’s effect was different from yesterday’s.
If yesterday’s effect was awe and worship, then today’s was a purer fascination, the kind of captivation one feels when drawn to something beautiful.
This was especially true for the younger soldiers; their gazes toward her were practically glowing.
Lin Fan enjoyed this feeling.
This was exactly the effect she wanted.
A lofty, awe-inspiring goddess.
An approachable, endearing older sister.
Two completely different images merged perfectly within her.
This was the only way she could put down roots faster and deeper in this unfamiliar base.
