Skinwalker Belle – Chapter 12 – Simple Molotov Cocktail

Lin Fan leaned the spiked club and long-handled axe against the wall, her gaze falling on the two cases of white liquor in the corner.

Fifty-two percent high-proof white liquor.

When she had moved them back yesterday, she had already planned their ultimate purpose.

“Ming-ge, go find some empty glass bottles.”

Her voice was calm, yet it carried an unquestionable authority.

“Beer bottles are best, the kind with thick glass.”

Zhou Ming, still lost in the enchanting memory from a moment ago, was taken aback.

“What do you need glass bottles for?”

“Molotov cocktails.”

Lin Fan uttered the two words, casually tearing open a case of white liquor and taking out a bottle to weigh in her hand.

“Against a horde of zombies, this is the most effective weapon.”

Zhou Ming’s mind buzzed, and he immediately understood.

“Gasoline bombs?”

“The principle is similar.” Lin Fan nodded. “We don’t have gasoline, but high-proof white liquor is enough.”

Zhou Ming sprang into action, pulling a case of beer from the supply pile. He popped the caps and poured all the golden liquid into a prepared bucket.

The thick, brown glass bottles were sturdy, which would minimize the risk of them accidentally breaking during movement.

Lin Fan picked up an empty bottle, examining it with satisfaction.

“This is the kind. The mouth is the right size, convenient for stuffing a fuse.”

She turned and walked into the bedroom, pulling a few old clothes from Liu Ruyan’s wardrobe.

They were pure cotton, highly absorbent, and would burn for a longer time.

“Tear the cloth strips evenly. If they’re too thin, they’ll burn through easily. If they’re too thick, they won’t fit.”

She demonstrated as she explained to Zhou Ming.

Zhou Ming also squatted down, mimicking her actions and tearing forcefully at the fabric.

He looked at Lin Fan’s focused profile, the admiration in his heart nearly overflowing.

“Ruyan… how do you know all this?”

Lin Fan’s hands didn’t pause in the slightest.

“I didn’t sleep well last night, so I looked up some information on apocalypse survival online.”

A perfect excuse.

The months of struggle to survive in her past life had long since burned this knowledge into her mind.

But Liu Ruyan’s persona could not collapse.

She had to be a delicate beauty, forced to grow up quickly in a desperate situation.

The first cloth strip was stuffed into the bottle’s mouth, leaving about fifteen centimeters of length outside.

Lin Fan twisted open a bottle of white liquor. The clear liquid was slowly poured into the bottle, and the strong smell of alcohol instantly filled the air.

The liquid stopped at the two-thirds mark of the bottle.

“Don’t fill it all the way.”

She explained.

“Leaving enough air will allow it to burn more fiercely.”

Like a student, Zhou Ming committed every detail to memory.

Lin Fan also soaked the part of the cloth strip outside the bottle with white liquor, ensuring it could be ignited instantly.

The first simple Molotov cocktail was complete.

“Get a feel for it.” She handed the bottle to Zhou Ming.

Zhou Ming took it and weighed it in his hand. The weight was just right.

“It’s not heavy. It should be easy to throw.”

Lin Fan immediately started making the second one, her movements becoming more practiced and fluid.

“What’s the burn radius of this thing?” Zhou Ming couldn’t help but ask.

“Three to five meters.”

Lin Fan answered without looking up.

“It doesn’t rely on an explosion, but on the continuous burning and spreading of the flames.”

A trace of coldness was in her voice.

“Zombies are afraid of fire. Once they’re ignited, they’ll run around wildly, becoming new sources of fire and igniting more of their kind.”

Zhou Ming imagined the hellish scene, and a chill ran down his spine.

Ten Molotov cocktails were quickly made.

The two worked together in perfect sync, one handing over materials while the other assembled them.

Lin Fan carefully lined up the Molotov cocktails on the floor, placing paper towels underneath to prevent them from sliding and bumping into each other.

“How do we carry them?” Zhou Ming asked.

“We’ll pack them in two separate bags, separated by clothes.” Lin Fan already had a plan. “You and I will each take half.”

She then found a few rubber bands on Liu Ruyan’s vanity and used them to secure the soaked cloth strips to the bottle mouths, preventing them from falling out during movement.

With everything ready, Lin Fan picked up a lighter and made a feinting motion in front of a bottle’s mouth.

“After you light the fuse, you have five to eight seconds to throw it.”

She gave Zhou Ming her final instructions, her eyes sharp.

“Throw it too early, and the fire won’t be burning strong enough, greatly reducing its effect. Throw it too late, and you’ll be burning your own hand.”

Zhou Ming nodded heavily, engraving this knowledge into his brain.

Lin Fan carefully wrapped the ten Molotov cocktails in towels.

She took out four and packed them into the side mesh pockets, originally for water bottles, of two backpacks.

“Remember, this is our last resort. We absolutely cannot use them unless it’s absolutely necessary.”

“I understand,” Zhou Ming replied in a low voice.

Lin Fan did a final check of all the equipment.

The spiked club, the wooden-handled spear, the long-handled axe, the pot-lid shield, the Molotov cocktails, and the simple protective gear reinforced with cardboard.

“The gear is ready,” she said softly, as if psyching herself up.

“What’s the route for tomorrow?”

Lin Fan walked to the window, her gaze directed toward the street outside the residential complex.

“Wild Wolf Outdoor Supplies store. Southeast, two kilometers.”

Her finger traced an invisible line on the glass.

“We set out at dawn. That’s when the fewest people are around. We’ll take the side roads and avoid the main streets.”

Zhou Ming stood behind her, following her gaze.

The number of zombies on the street seemed to have increased since yesterday.

“They… seem to be moving in one direction?” Zhou Ming keenly noticed the problem.

“Mmm.” Lin Fan’s brow furrowed. “Sound, the smell of blood, or a large number of living people.”

This was not good news.

It meant that the survivors were being rapidly eliminated.

“We have to hurry.” Lin Fan turned around, no longer looking out the window. “The longer we delay, the more dangerous it will be outside.”

She began to organize their packs for the next day.

Backpacks, water, food, weapons, Molotov cocktails, medical supplies.

Everything was done in an orderly manner.

“Let’s rest early today and build up our energy.”

Zhou Ming nodded silently and began to clean up the tools and clutter on the floor.

Lin Fan placed all the weapons neatly by the door, ensuring they could be equipped immediately the next morning.

The door was firmly barricaded with a shoe cabinet, and all the windows were locked from the inside.

She checked the security measures again and again.

“Ruyan,” Zhou Ming suddenly said.

“Hmm?”

“You… you’re really amazing.” His voice was filled with sincere admiration and awe. “I’ve never met a girl like you.”

A cold sneer rose in Lin Fan’s heart.

Girl?

When you see my true self, you’ll probably be so scared you’ll piss your pants.

But on her face, she still wore that perfectly calibrated expression of fragility and gratitude.

“I guess I was just pushed to my limit,” she said softly, like an insecure little girl. “It’s a good thing I have you here, Ming-ge. Otherwise, I really wouldn’t know what to do.”

Zhou Ming was overjoyed by her words, his cheeks flushing red.

Evening soon fell.

After a simple dinner, Lin Fan went into the bathroom.

Taking advantage of the fact that the water hadn’t been cut off yet, she filled every bucket and basin in the house that could hold water.

The hot water washed over her body, relieving the deep soreness in her muscles.

This might be one of the last times she could indulge in such a luxurious hot shower.

After washing, she looked at the clothes she had changed out of, a calculating smile touching her lips.

She “forgot” them in a corner of the bathroom counter, a conspicuous yet seemingly natural spot.

She could clearly feel Zhou Ming becoming more and more unrestrained.

It was better to provide a release than to suppress it.

She had to give him a safe outlet, or this beast would sooner or later break out of its cage.

Changing into a silk nightgown, Lin Fan returned to the bedroom and locked the door.

She didn’t rest immediately. Instead, she replayed tomorrow’s action plan in her mind over and over.

Wild Wolf Outdoor Supplies.

There, they would find more professional gear, multi-tools, outdoor survival equipment, and protective jackets.

And real weapons—professional multi-function knives and entrenching tools.

Those things were extremely important in the apocalypse.

But there might also be other survivors there.

Or, it might have already become an empty shell, long since looted.

Lin Fan had to prepare for the worst.

She lay on the bed and closed her eyes.

In her mind, countless possible emergency situations flashed by like a movie.

For each situation, she had prepared at least two countermeasures.

This was the first law of apocalyptic survival.

Always be one step ahead of danger.
