Skinwalker Belle – Chapter 129 – Fifty Thousand Beast Tide

The two quickly got dressed.

Sun Jing’s hands were trembling with nervousness, but she still pulled on the dark gray combat suit as fast as she could.

Zipper, bracers, tactical belt.

Every movement was completed through muscle memory.

Lin Fan, on the other hand, put on the white tracksuit and white sneakers Sun Jing had given her.

She raised a hand, and her Mental Strength, like invisible threads, gently lifted her waterfall of silver hair.

The strands swirled, folded, and gathered in the air.

A few seconds later, a tight bun formed, secured at the back of her head.

No hairpins, no hair ties.

Pure compressed Mental Strength, firmer than any physical restraint.

She moved her neck, confirming there was nothing encumbering her.

“Let’s go.”

Lin Fan pushed open the door and was the first to step out of the room.

The entire base had already begun to operate with high efficiency.

There were no panicked screams in the corridors, no one running around like a headless chicken.

There were only squad after squad of fully armed soldiers, charging toward their respective defensive posts with orderly steps.

Their military boots stomped on the metal floor, creating a low rumble.

It was the sound of discipline.

It was the sound of order.

Lin Fan took it all in, her assessment of Chu Chen rising a few more notches.

In less than three minutes, everyone was ready for battle.

Shi Ming was already assembled and in formation.

He stood at the very front of his team, followed by a dozen or so Level 4 Evolved beings with ferocious auras.

Every one of them had eyes as sharp as blades, without a trace of fear.

Chu Chen stood on the command platform, a lollipop in his hand, his gaze sweeping over every piece of data on the real-time monitoring screens.

“Shi Ming!”

“Here!”

“Take your men and hold the eastern defensive line. Anything Level 4 and above is yours. Sun Jing, stay by his side, ready to heal at any moment!”

“Yes, sir!”

Shi Ming snapped a salute and turned to leave.

Chu Chen’s voice rang out again.

“Miss Lei Li.”

Lin Fan looked up, her rainbow-colored eyes shimmering with an uncanny luster under the lights.

“The Level 6 Demonic Beast is yours.”

Chu Chen’s tone was calm, as if he were talking about something trivial.

“And if one doesn’t appear?” Lin Fan asked in return.

“Then you’re free to act as you please.”

Chu Chen crunched the lollipop in his mouth. “Hunt what you want to kill, take what you want.”

Lin Fan smiled.

“Deal.”

She turned and walked toward the highest observation platform in the base.

Sun Jing hurried to catch up with Shi Ming’s team, but she couldn’t help but glance back.

That slender white figure was walking step by step toward the rooftop.

The silver bun on her head shimmered like moonlight under the lights.

It was such a delicate back, yet it exuded an indescribable sense of pressure.

Sun Jing bit her lip.

“Lei Jie… you have to be safe…”

On the rooftop, Lin Fan stood at the edge, looking up at the sky.

The protective membrane of the Rift had already begun to visibly dissolve.

That barrier, as thin as a cicada’s wing, was cracking, crumbling, and turning to ash inch by inch.

Behind the Rift, countless Demonic Creatures could be seen scrambling to pour out.

They were a dense, swarming mass that blotted out the sky.

It was as if the gates of hell had been thrown open.

Lin Fan’s gaze swept over the silhouettes of the Demonic Creatures.

The low-level ones were only a little over a meter tall, beast-like, moving on all fours, their mouths full of fangs.

The mid-level ones had begun to walk upright, were about two meters tall, and held crude bone clubs or stone axes.

The high-level ones…

She hadn’t seen any Level 5 or Level 6 ones yet.

Lin Fan narrowed her eyes slightly.

Ever since she learned that Crystals could enhance her power again, she had made a decision.

On the battlefield, she would hunt as many high-level mutated Demonic Creatures as possible to obtain their Crystals.

She wondered how much stronger she would become if she consumed a Level 6 Crystal.

“Fifty thousand…”

Lin Fan murmured to herself.

This was the number Chu Chen had predicted based on the last Tidal wave of beasts.

Last time it was thirty thousand; this time it had nearly doubled.

If this trend continued, the next time…

A hundred thousand?

Two hundred thousand?

Or would the Rift spiral completely out of control, with no upper limit to their numbers?

Lin Fan shook her head, pushing these meaningless speculations to the back of her mind.

She would worry about the future after she survived today.

Boom!

The protective membrane shattered completely.

The low-level Tidal wave of beasts surged out of the Rift like a bursting dam.

They shrieked, they roared, they trampled over the bodies of their own kind, and charged toward the base below.

The base’s defensive weapons activated instantly.

The laser cannons were the first to fire.

Dozens of incandescent white beams tore through the night sky, precisely striking the vanguard of the beast horde.

Those Level 1 and Level 2 low-level Demonic Creatures were instantly melted by the high temperature.

Next came the missile arrays.

Over a hundred small missiles, trailing flames, whistled toward the sky.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The explosions merged into a single roar, and the firelight illuminated half the sky.

But there were too many Demonic Creatures.

When the ones in front died, the ones behind immediately filled their places.

They were fearless in the face of death, knowing only how to charge.

The base’s firepower was still effective against creatures below Level 3.

But when the Level 4 Demonic Creatures appeared…

A laser cannon beam shot straight into the chest of a Level 4 Demonic Creature.

The creature’s skin glowed with a dark red luster.

It paused for a moment.

Then, it continued to advance.

The laser cannon couldn’t break through its defense.

Shi Ming took a deep breath.

“It’s our turn!”

He leaped up, his entire body like a human cannonball, and crashed into the horde of beasts.

His fist fell.

The ground cracked.

All the Demonic Creatures within a five-meter radius of him were sent flying.

Immediately after, the dozen or so Level 4 Evolved beings attacked simultaneously.

Flashes of blades and swords, fire and lightning.

All sorts of abilities intertwined on the battlefield, forming a dazzling and deadly web of death.

Shi Ming could easily face five Level 4 Demonic Creatures by himself.

Every time his fist swung out, it could shatter the creatures’ bones and pulverize their internal organs.

The dozen Level 4 Evolved beings under his command worked together with tacit understanding.

Some were responsible for defense, some for offense, and some for control.

They could even face about twenty Level 4 otherworldly beasts at the same time.

Lin Fan stood on the rooftop, quietly watching the scene.

“As expected of the elites of Demon City.”

She nodded.

But that was all.

The real threat had not yet appeared.

Lin Fan’s Mental Strength spread out, covering the entire battlefield.

She was searching.

Searching for those existences with stronger, more dangerous auras.

Suddenly, her gaze froze.

Deep within the Rift, something was moving.

Its aura far surpassed that of a Level 4.

It was a Level 5!

A Level 5 monster appeared in the Rift.

It slowly stepped out, its massive body blocking the light from behind it.

It was almost humanoid.

Except it was much taller than an average human.

A full three meters tall.

It looked like a minotaur, with two horns on its head.

It held a huge battle axe, the blade of which was still stained with dark red blood.

It stood at the edge of the Rift, looking down on the battlefield below.

Then, it opened its mouth and let out a heaven-shaking roar.

“ROAR!”

The sound wave spread out in all directions as if it were tangible.

The soldiers in the midst of battle felt a sharp pain in their eardrums, and their bodies swayed slightly.

Shi Ming abruptly looked up, staring intently at the minotaur.

It had intelligence.

It was no longer just a beast that only knew how to kill.

It could think, it could judge, it could command.

“Level 5… This is trouble…”

Shi Ming gritted his teeth.

Although he was Level 5, he wasn’t completely confident he could win against a Demonic Creature of the same level.

Moreover, its size and aura seemed stronger than his.

The minotaur seemed to have noticed Shi Ming as well.

It grinned, revealing a mouthful of bone-white fangs.

Then, it raised its battle axe and swung it down heavily in Shi Ming’s direction.

Boom
