Skinwalker Belle – Chapter 17 – Getting Bolder
Skinwalker Belle – Chapter 17 – Getting Bolder
Lin Fan collapsed onto the sofa, feeling every joint in her body cry out in protest.
Today had been far too intense.
It far exceeded any other day before.
The round trip from the residential complex to the outdoor supply store was over four kilometers.
Not only did she have to stay vigilant the entire way, but she and Zhou Ming also had to take turns pulling the heavy camp wagon, not to mention using Molotov cocktails several times to clear out hordes of zombies.
Finally, they had to haul a mountain of supplies up to the eighth floor in five separate trips.
Even Zhou Ming, a fitness instructor, was as tired as a dead dog, panting heavily with his entire back soaked in sweat.
Lin Fan felt as if her feet didn’t even belong to her anymore.
The brand-new high-top hiking boots, while offering first-rate protection, were incredibly stuffy.
She bent down with great effort, untied the laces, and pulled off the heavy boots.
She took off the thick athletic socks.
“Gulp.”
The distinct sound of someone swallowing came from the side.
From the corner of her eye, Lin Fan saw Zhou Ming staring intently at her, his Adam’s apple bobbing up and down.
Lin Fan sneered inwardly.
Outwardly, however, her face showed just the right amount of disgust, her brow furrowing slightly as if she were offended by the smell.
With a casual flick of her wrist, she tossed the sock onto the floor not far from Zhou Ming.

“So smelly…”
She complained in a sweet, cloying voice, then stood up.
“I’m going to take a shower. I feel so sticky.”
Without another glance at Zhou Ming, she walked straight to the bathroom.
She could feel Zhou Ming’s gaze on her, as ravenous as a hungry wolf.
In the bathroom, Lin Fan turned on the faucet, filling the tub with hot water.
Steam rose and quickly fogged up the mirror.
She stood before it.
The body in the mirror had fair skin and captivating curves.
After these past few days of adapting, Lin Fan had almost forgotten what her original body felt like.
If not for the ability to take off this skin at any time, she would even think this was originally her body.
The feeling was too real.
After soaking for a full half hour and feeling much of her body’s soreness ease, Lin Fan finally got out of the tub.
She picked up a purple lace nightgown she had found in the closet and put it on.
Under the light, the thin lace fabric concealed just enough to spark the imagination.
She pushed open the bathroom door.
In the living room, Zhou Ming was still sitting on the sofa.

He seemed somewhat restless.
“Ming-ge, you can go wash up,” Lin Fan said softly, drying her wet hair with a towel.
“O-Okay.”
Zhou Ming shot to his feet almost immediately, not daring to look Lin Fan in the eye as he rushed into the bathroom.
Lin Fan’s gaze swept across the living room.
On the floor, the balled-up sock she had thrown away was gone.
This guy was getting bolder.
…
Late at night.
Lying on the large bed in the master bedroom, Lin Fan was not asleep.
She had locked the door from the inside and was listening quietly to the sounds outside.
After his shower, Zhou Ming had been restless in the living room.
Lin Fan didn’t need to guess what he was doing.
About ten minutes later, everything fell silent.
But soon, a new sound arose.
Footsteps.

Very light, very slow, tinged with hesitation and probing.
The footsteps stopped in front of her bedroom door.
Lin Fan held her breath, her muscles instantly tensing.
What was he trying to do?
In the darkness, the silence was infinitely amplified.
One second.
Two seconds.
Ten seconds.
Click.
An extremely faint sound of metal turning.
The doorknob!
Someone outside was slowly turning her doorknob!
Lin Fan’s heart didn’t race, but her eyes turned incredibly cold.
Zhou Ming.
He was getting bolder and bolder.
The doorknob was turned as far as it would go, but because the door was locked, it couldn’t be pushed open.
The person outside seemed unwilling to give up and pulled on it forcefully.

The door panel rattled slightly.
A few seconds later, the force disappeared.
The footsteps started again, tinged with frustration, pacing back and forth in front of the door.
After lingering for nearly a minute, the footsteps gradually faded, returning to the sofa.
Lin Fan slowly exhaled.
She threw back the covers, walked to the door, and pressed her ear against it.
Outside, only Zhou Ming’s deliberately suppressed breathing remained.
There was not a trace of fear in Lin Fan’s eyes, only cold calculation.
She realized a serious problem.
Zhou Ming was losing control.
Or rather, the apocalypse was awakening the wildness hidden in his bones.
Over the past few days, he had killed many zombies with his own hands, engaging in close-quarters combat. The blood and death had stimulated his nerves.
He was no longer the timid simp who would blush in front of his goddess.
His gaze had begun to carry a hint of aggression.
The sock she had intentionally dropped today was like pouring a ladle of oil onto a fire.
That tiny reward was no longer enough to satisfy him.
