Skinwalker Belle – Chapter 180 – Sister Lei, Where Are You?
Skinwalker Belle – Chapter 180 – Sister Lei, Where Are You?
Two hours passed in the blink of an eye.
“Beep… Beep… Beep… Warning! Rift energy threshold has reached a critical point! Estimated opening countdown… Ten, nine, eight…”
The piercing alarm blared throughout the command room.
Chu Chen stood expressionlessly before the massive floor-to-ceiling window, the plastic stick of his last lollipop dangling from his mouth.
He hadn’t told anyone that the woman might be coming back.
As the commander, he had to plan for the worst-case scenario.
Hope was the most extravagant, and also the most fatal, thing in the apocalypse.
“All hands… engage the enemy!”
His icy voice spread to every corner of the base through the broadcast system.
The membrane of the Rift shattered completely.
Endless low-level Demonic Creatures poured down like a black tide.
“Fire!”
Boom!
Dozens of laser turrets deployed on the base’s rooftop activated instantly. Incandescent white beams of light interwove into a web of death, precisely slicing through the vanguard of the beast horde.
High-energy ray cannons followed suit, clearing a fan-shaped vacuum in the tidal wave of beasts with every shot.
The low-level Demonic Creatures were pathetically fragile in the face of modern defensive firepower.
But the real threat was only just beginning.
“Report! Twenty Level 4 energy signatures detected! Five… five Level 5 energy signatures!”
“Second Brigade! All units, move out!”
Shi Ming roared, the first to leap out from behind the fortifications.
Behind him, four equally powerful auras followed closely.
They were the four newly promoted Level 5 Evolved beings, forged in the crucible of the last tidal wave of beasts.
Five Level 5 Demonic Beasts of various forms had just crawled out of the Rift. Before they could even roar, they were intercepted and tied down by five human figures.
The one Shi Ming faced was a heavy-armored rhinoceros over four meters tall.
“Bring it on!”
Shi Ming advanced instead of retreating. His muscles bulged, and an earthy yellow light glowed on his fist as he met the rhino’s charge head-on.
“BOOM!”

The collision between man and beast produced a dull, heavy thud.
The alloy floor beneath Shi Ming’s feet cracked and splintered, but he didn’t retreat a single step, having forcefully stopped the heavy-armored rhino in its tracks.
“Nice one!”
A newly promoted Level 5 speed-type Evolved being blurred into an afterimage, circling to the rhino’s rear flank. The alloy dagger in his hand struck like a venomous snake, precisely stabbing at the weak points in the rhino’s joints.
The other three battlefronts were handled with similar ease.
The Second Brigade’s strength was no longer what it used to be.
In the command room, Chu Chen watched the battle on the screen, his tightly furrowed brow showing no sign of relaxing.
His gaze fell on another split screen.
The image showed the highest point of the base, which offered a panoramic view of the battlefield.
Sun Jing, dressed in a black combat suit, sat quietly on a specially made metal chair, her eyes shut tight.
On her head was a strangely shaped helmet connected to countless thick energy tubes.
This was a device specially developed for Sun Jing by the Magic City Academy of Sciences, capable of rapidly restoring energy for a Mental Strength user.
Her hands rested flat on her knees, palms up. A soft golden ball of light was slowly spinning in them.
On the battlefield.
The rhino’s horn grazed Shi Ming’s shoulder, tearing open a wound so deep the bone was visible.
Just as he was about to retreat to safety, a warm, golden speck of light appeared out of thin air and entered his wound.
Almost instantly, flesh and blood squirmed and healed at a speed visible to the naked eye.
In less than three seconds, the wound was reduced to a faint red mark.
“Little Jing…” Shi Ming felt the abundant power within him, a complicated look in his eyes.
She had succeeded.
Following the previous four, Sun Jing had successfully absorbed the last Level 5 Crystal Core and broken through to Level 5.
Her healing ability had undergone a qualitative change.
She no longer needed to be on the front lines, no longer needed physical contact.
As long as someone was within the range of her Mental Strength, she could perform remote psychic healing.
She had become a true… strategic-level mobile fountain.
“Captain Shi! Don’t get distracted!” a teammate’s reminder came through the headset.

Shi Ming snapped back to his senses, his gaze turning sharp again as he sent the rhino stumbling back with a punch.
The battle raged on.
Sun Jing’s face was a little pale, and fine beads of sweat dotted her forehead.
Providing high-intensity healing for five Level 5 Evolved beings simultaneously was a massive drain on her Mental Strength.
The special helmet on her head supplied her with a constant stream of energy, but it was still just a drop in the bucket.
But she just gritted her teeth and continued to maintain the light in her palms.
She couldn’t stop.
Lei Jie was gone.
She had to protect this place for Lei Jie.
The thought of that silver-haired, rainbow-eyed woman, who always carried a hint of coldness but would inadvertently reveal a gentle side, made Sun Jing’s heart feel as if it were being squeezed by an invisible hand, the pain making it hard to breathe.
She had disappeared into the Rift.
Along with that terrifying Level 6 Half-dragon.
Everyone said she was dead.
She didn’t believe it.
But a month had passed… with no news at all.
“Lei Jie… where are you…”
Just then.
“ROAR!!!”
A roar far more terrifying than any of the previous Demonic Creatures came from the depths of the Rift.
The sound seemed to carry a tangible pressure, causing the entire battlefield to freeze for a moment.
The Level 5 Evolved beings in the midst of battle found their movements slowing by half a beat.
Sun Jing’s eyes snapped open, and the golden light in her palm flickered violently.
Everyone’s gaze was fixed on the Rift.
A massive claw, wreathed in golden flames, reached out from the Rift and pressed heavily on its edge.
Then, a huge head emerged.
It was a lion.

A male lion over five meters long, its body covered in golden fur, its mane like a burning flame.
Its eyes were the color of molten gold, filled with Tyranny and arrogance.
“Level… Six…”
The voice of a newly promoted Level 5 Evolved being trembled.
The suffocating sense of pressure, though not as intense as the Half-dragon’s from last time, was still devastating to them now.
“Finish off these Level 5 Demonic Beasts, quickly!” Shi Ming made a snap decision, roaring into his headset, “Everyone! Concentrate fire! Now!”
The five of them unleashed their full power, slaying their respective opponents with the greatest possible speed.
The moment the five Level 5 Demonic Beasts fell, the Level Six Lion Demon had also fully emerged from the Rift.
It didn’t even glance at the corpses of its kin on the ground, merely sweeping a disdainful look over the five humans below.
“All units… attack!” Shi Ming roared, the first to charge forward.
The other four Level 5 Evolved beings followed close behind.
Five figures attacked the Lion Demon simultaneously from five different directions.
A trace of contempt flashed in the Lion Demon’s eyes.
It simply lifted its right paw casually and swiped forward.
BOOM!
A crescent-shaped flaming claw arc howled forth.
Shi Ming, at the very front, felt his pupils shrink. He crossed his arms in front of his chest, pouring all his power into his defense.
The claw arc collided with him.
Shi Ming was sent flying backward as if hit by a high-speed train, crashing through three alloy walls before embedding himself deep into the fourth.
“Pfft!”
He spat out a mouthful of blood, his aura instantly weakening.
“Captain Shi!”
Sun Jing cried out in alarm, the golden light in her palms surging toward Shi Ming without reservation.
But a violent energy clung to the wound left by the flaming claw arc, continuously destroying Shi Ming’s body and greatly hindering the healing process.
“Damn it!”
The other four Level 5 Evolved beings’ faces changed drastically, but they did not retreat. Instead, their attacks grew even fiercer.

However, it was useless.
The Lion Demon didn’t even move from its spot, fending off all four of their attacks with just its flaming mane and sharp claws.
It was like a cat toying with mice.
“Roar…”
It let out a low growl, seemingly tired of the game.
Its golden, flaming mane suddenly erupted, turning into a sea of fire that engulfed the four of them.
Screams rang out.
Four figures tumbled wretchedly out of the sea of fire, each covered in extensive burns.
Despair.
The sheer disparity in power brought a suffocating despair.
In the command room, Chu Chen slowly closed his eyes.
His hand, hidden beneath the command console, felt for a button protected by a red cover.
The Scorched Earth Plan.
The Lion Demon began to walk, step by step, toward Shi Ming, who was lying on the ground, unable to even stand.
It lowered its arrogant head, its molten-gold eyes looking down on this ant who dared to challenge it.
Then, it raised its massive paw.
“It’s over…” a surviving soldier muttered to himself.
Tears streamed down Sun Jing’s face, but she still desperately channeled her Mental Strength, trying to buy Shi Ming even one more second of life.
“Lei Jie… where are you…”
She let out a despairing wail.
Just as the Lion Demon’s giant paw was about to fall.
A woman’s voice, cool yet tinged with a hint of laziness, sounded from the sky.
“Tsk.”
“I was only gone for a little while, and you’ve already let yourselves get bullied like this.”
“What an embarrassment to me.”
