Skinwalker Belle – Chapter 183 – Crack Analysis Plan

The command room door was thrown open.

A fragrant figure rushed straight into Lin Fan’s arms.

“Lei Jie!”

Sun Jing’s voice held a sob she had suppressed for a long time. She threw her arms open and hugged Lin Fan tightly, burying her small face in the crook of Lin Fan’s shoulder, her body trembling from the intense emotional turmoil.

“I thought… I thought you’d never come back…”

Her voice grew softer and softer, finally breaking into a full-on choke, leaving only suppressed sobs and faint gasps.

Lin Fan’s body stiffened for a moment.

She looked down at the girl crying a river of tears in her arms, and a rare ripple of emotion appeared in her usually indifferent, rainbow-colored eyes.

She raised a hand and, somewhat awkwardly, patted Sun Jing’s back.

The motion was light, gentle.

“My little sister has become stronger than before.”

A rare hint of softness entered Lin Fan’s voice. She placed her other hand on top of Sun Jing’s head, as if soothing a frightened kitten.

“Your big sister is very pleased.”

The word “pleased” seemed to flip a switch. Sun Jing cried even harder, tears falling like broken strings of pearls, soaking Lin Fan’s leather jacket.

She clutched Lin Fan’s clothes tightly, as if the person before her would vanish like a bubble the moment she let go.

Chu Chen stood to the side, not interrupting.

He just watched the scene quietly, a flicker of inscrutable contemplation passing through his eyes behind his glasses.

“Alright.”

Feeling like her leather jacket was about to be torn, Lin Fan gently pushed Sun Jing away. She reached out to wipe the tear stains from her face, her movements much more practiced than before.

“You’ve cried yourself into a mess. Aren’t you afraid of being laughed at?”

Sun Jing sniffled, her eyes red as she shook her head forcefully.

“I’m not afraid!”

She took half a step back and a deep breath, trying to calm herself, but her gaze still refused to leave Lin Fan’s face for even a second.

“Lei Jie, are… are you really okay? That level-six Half-dragon…”

“I’m fine,” Lin Fan cut her off coolly. She turned toward the floor-to-ceiling window, looking down at the soldiers cleaning up the battlefield below. “Not only am I fine, I’ve become stronger.”

She paused, then turned her head to look at Chu Chen, who had been watching the show from the side.

“Commander Chu, it’s time we talked business.”

Chu Chen nodded, dropping his usual flippant demeanor.

“The Dragon Spirit Continent,” he said, getting straight to the point. “The intel Lu Yuan sent back only mentioned it was a primitive world inhabited by a humanoid intelligent species, whose individual strength far surpassed that of Blue Star.”

“But he never had the chance to clarify the specific racial composition, power system, and… the relationship between that world and Blue Star.”

Chu Chen pushed up his glasses, the lenses reflecting the light from the command room screens as his sharp gaze fixed on Lin Fan.

“You know more, don’t you?”

Lin Fan didn’t deny it.

“The Dragon Clan.”

She uttered the two words concisely.

“The rulers of the Dragon Spirit Continent are the Dragon Clan. The Pureblood Dragon Clan sits high above, while the branch clans and other sub-human races are their slaves and cannon fodder.”

“The power system is simple—it’s based on levels. Just like on Blue Star, it starts from level one, and the higher you go, the stronger you get. The highest I’ve encountered so far is level seven.”

“And the source of power in that world is…” Lin Fan paused, uttering a word that made Chu Chen’s pupils shrink.

“Spirit Energy.”

“Spirit Energy?”

“Correct.” Lin Fan turned to face Chu Chen, her eyes icy. “The air in that world is filled with an energy called ‘Spirit Energy.’ All living beings are bathed in it from birth, making them natural Evolved beings.”

“As for our Blue Star…” She let out a cold, mocking laugh.

“The so-called radiation shockwave was, in essence, the Dragon Clan pouring Spirit Energy into Blue Star through the Rift.”

“Enhancement serums are the product of concentrated Spirit Energy.”

“The Zombie Virus is a manifestation of Spirit Energy going out of control.”

“As for Crystals…” Lin Fan’s gaze fell on Chu Chen. “They are crystals of Spirit Energy that form in the brain after a creature absorbs it.”

Lin Fan’s voice was like a clap of thunder.

The command room fell into a dead silence.

Chu Chen stared intently at Lin Fan, his brain working at an unprecedented speed.

Spirit Energy…

Radiation shockwave…

Enhancement serums…

Zombie Virus…

All the mysteries that had plagued him for so long were now connected by a single, cold thread.

“So…” Chu Chen murmured to himself, a chill in his voice, “the micro-Rift the Federation’s high command discovered five years ago, and the so-called ‘alien civilization’s enhancement serum formula’…”

“It was all a conspiracy by the Dragon Clan.”

He snapped his head up, a terrifying glint flashing in his eyes behind his glasses.

“They had us create the serum ourselves, inject it into our own people, and then five years later, they opened the floodgates, turning ninety-nine point nine percent of the enhanced into Zombies in one go.”

“This is…” Chu Chen took a deep breath, a ferocious expression appearing on his perpetually stoic face for the first time. “They’re treating all of human civilization as a vessel for raising a Gu!”

Lin Fan nodded.

“Not only that,” she said coldly. “Those surviving Chosen Ones are, in essence, ‘high-quality leeks’ that the Dragon Clan has screened.”

“Once Blue Star is completely transformed by Spirit Energy and all life has evolved to a sufficiently powerful level… the Dragon Clan will come to harvest.”

“Harvesting Crystals, harvesting the strong, harvesting the life force of the entire planet.”

Chu Chen was silent for a moment.

Then, he suddenly laughed, a somewhat neurotic laugh.

“Interesting, truly interesting.”

He looked up at Lin Fan.

“In other words… our so-called Federation higher-ups might not be human anymore.”

Lin Fan raised an eyebrow.

“You figured it out?”

“It’s not hard to guess,” Chu Chen said coolly, regaining his usual composure. “The Federation high command’s attitude was strange after discovering the Rift five years ago. They were unusually aggressive in promoting the enhancement serum, even using executive orders to force all military and administrative personnel to be injected.”

“I felt something was wrong back then.”

“Now it seems…” He sneered. “They knew about Spirit Energy and the Dragon Clan’s plan all along. But they chose to cooperate.”

“They… want to become the Dragon Clan’s agents in ruling Blue Star.”

Lin Fan said nothing.

Chu Chen’s deduction matched her own speculation perfectly.

The Federation’s high command, or at least a part of it, had already betrayed humanity.

They wanted to secure a place for themselves in the new world order.

Even if the price was the annihilation of human civilization.

“So,” Chu Chen looked at Lin Fan, his expression more serious than ever, “although you’re full of secrets, right now… I can only choose to believe you.”

He turned and pulled up the Rift’s energy monitoring data.

“According to energy observations, the Rift will completely close in two to three hours. Before that, whatever you require, I will fully cooperate.”

Lin Fan was silent for a moment.

Then, she spoke, saying something no one expected.

“I need you to fully assist Zhou Ming in trying to analyze the Rift.”

Chu Chen was stunned.

Sun Jing and the others in the command room also subconsciously turned their gazes to the young man who had been in a daze this whole time.

Feeling uncomfortable under their stares, Zhou Ming pointed at his own nose. “Me?”

“Analyze the Rift?” Chu Chen frowned.

“Yes.” Lin Fan nodded. “Zhou Ming’s Spatial Ability is one of the most unique I’ve ever seen. If he can analyze the Rift’s spatial structure… perhaps we can open the Rift’s protective membrane at will.”

She paused, adding a sentence that shocked Chu Chen even more.

“Even an opening just big enough for one person to pass through would be enough.”

Chu Chen’s pupils shrank.

He instantly understood Lin Fan’s intention.

“You want… to travel freely between Blue Star and the Dragon Spirit Continent?”

“Correct,” Lin Fan said calmly, but her eyes burned with ambition. “If we can achieve that, I can bring Blue Star’s warriors to the Dragon Spirit Continent, let them absorb Spirit Energy, and rapidly increase their strength.”

“At the same time, I can also obtain more resources and intelligence from the Dragon Spirit Continent.”

“This is our only chance.”

Chu Chen took a deep breath.

“I understand.” He looked at Zhou Ming, his gaze turning fervent. “Whatever you need—the research department, the logistics department—all resources are at your disposal!”
