Skinwalker Belle – Chapter 259 – The Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss in the Apocalypse

At the foot of Mount Fuji, the fog had not dispersed with the rising sun. Instead, it grew thicker, shrouding the strange building within.

Lin Fan crossed her arms and shivered slightly.

Of course, she was faking it.

Although she currently had Liu Ruyan’s appearance, with the support of her own seventh-level strength, she could take a swim even if thrown into lava. This bit of cold air was nothing.

But an act had to be convincing.

Her current identity was that of a “pitiful” woman who had relied on a powerful person to survive in the apocalypse, only for that person to die, forcing her to wander alone.

“This godforsaken place barely has any Zombies, but it reeks of incense. What the hell,” Lin Fan grumbled inwardly, but on the surface, she maintained the appearance of a frightened little bunny.

She cautiously approached the building, which looked like some kind of shrine. Her white sneakers snapped a dry twig underfoot. The “crack” was exceptionally piercing in the silent fog.

Lin Fan stopped abruptly, looking around in terror. Her peach blossom eyes, misty with moisture, blinked, and she even managed to squeeze out two tears.

It had to be said, Liu Ruyan’s body was naturally suited for this line of work.

On the building’s outer wall, several dated-looking surveillance cameras flickered with a faint red light, slowly turning to follow her movements.

“Is… is anyone there?”

Lin Fan’s voice trembled, a soft and husky tone that could make one’s bones go numb. “I… I escaped from the Rift… Please… save me…”

She faced the surveillance camera, clasped her hands together, and struck a pitiful pose.

To add a touch of authenticity, she deliberately pulled down the zipper of her tight-fitting athletic jacket, revealing the black sports bra underneath that only covered the essential parts, along with a large expanse of snow-white skin.

That deep cleavage, partially obscured by the fog, was enough to make any normal male’s Bloodline surge.

However, the only response she received was a deathly silence.

Just as Lin Fan was growing impatient and wondering whether she should just kick the main gate open, the bushes on the ground not far away suddenly moved.

“Zzzzz…”

The sound of a motor whirring could be heard as a hydraulic manhole cover, disguised as a patch of lawn, slowly slid open, revealing a hidden entrance.

Immediately after, a man as burly as a bear climbed out.

Lin Fan immediately took two steps back, feigning shock, but her Mental Strength had already extended like tentacles to probe him.

A second-level strength-type Evolved being.

While not top-tier on Blue Star today, he was definitely part of the backbone. In an ordinary survivor team, he could at least be a squad leader.

But the man wasn’t wearing combat gear. Instead, he wore a burlap robe similar to that of a clergyman, embroidered with a red sun emblem.

“Are you a survivor?”

The man spoke, his voice somewhat mechanical, his eyes sweeping over Lin Fan’s body, which was enough to make a saint break his vows.

Lin Fan was already prepared to meet his lecherous gaze and had even scripted how she would use her beauty to wheedle information out of him.

But in the next second, she was stunned.

The man’s gaze was unusually clear, or rather… numb.

It was like looking at a rock or a tree, devoid of any desire, without the slightest ripple.

“Ye… yes…” Alarm bells rang in Lin Fan’s mind, but her expression became even more fragile. “My companions are all dead… I’m so hungry…”

“Praise be to Amaterasu.”

The man recited this with a deadpan expression, then stepped aside from the entrance and pointed down. “Go in. The goddess will shelter every lost lamb.”

No interrogation, no body search, he didn’t even seem to think it was worth his time to give her a second look.

This is so unscientific!

Wearing this nation-toppling face, Lin Fan felt a sense of defeat for the first time.

Have this bunch of people castrated themselves?

Although she was complaining internally, Lin Fan obediently walked over. As she passed the man, she deliberately stumbled, her entire body falling toward him.

“Aiya…”

This “body check” move was her signature skill; it had worked flawlessly on Zhou Ming back in the day.

However, the man merely extended a hand, steadying her shoulder as firmly as an iron clamp. Then, with a slight push, he helped her stand up straight.

“Watch the steps.” The man released his hand and turned to walk ahead. “Follow me.”

Lin Fan: “…”

She narrowed her eyes, a cold glint flashing within them.

This place was indeed strange.

After descending a winding staircase for about twenty meters, the scene before her suddenly opened up.

It was a huge underground space, which, judging by its structure, seemed to be a converted underground parking garage of a large shopping mall.

Bright LED light strips lined the ceiling. The air was filled with a mixed scent of disinfectant and some strange incense, not the musty odor one would expect from a basement.

What surprised Lin Fan was how orderly it was here.

As far as the eye could see, several hundred people were busy at work.

Some were moving supplies, some were mopping the floor, but most were kneeling on mats in the corners, praying in low voices to the giant red sun emblem on the wall.

“Praise be to Amaterasu…”

“Thank you, Divine Emissary, for granting us strength…”

The buzzing prayers merged, creating a low-frequency resonance that made one’s scalp tingle.

Lin Fan discreetly observed her surroundings, growing more alarmed the more she looked.

The male-to-female ratio here was extremely skewed, about one to five. It was a sea of women.

And the quality of these women…

Lin Fan’s gaze swept over several women who were distributing food. Not only were they good-looking, but their skin was in excellent condition, not at all like people struggling to survive in the apocalypse.

But that wasn’t the strangest part.

The strangest part was the strength of these people.

Lin Fan’s Mental Strength silently blanketed the entire underground space.

First-level… first-level… still first-level…

There were almost no ordinary people here!

Even an old woman with graying hair, washing clothes in a corner, exuded the energy fluctuations of a first-level Evolved being.

And a short distance away, several young men moving steel beams had a surging power of qi and blood that clearly indicated they had reached the third level!

“How is this possible?”

A storm raged in Lin Fan’s heart.

In Hangcheng, after countless life-and-death battles, and with a “cheater” like her, Lin Fan, leading everyone to clear out the military base, most Evolved beings, aside from the core members, had only just barely touched the second level.

This group of fanatics, who looked like they never stepped outside, were all Evolved beings?

Even some of the half-grown kids who weren’t yet adults were at the second level?

“We’re here.”

The burly man leading the way stopped in front of a room partitioned off with boards, interrupting Lin Fan’s thoughts.

“This is the registration office for newcomers.” The man pointed inside. “Go in, register, get a set of clothes, and then someone will arrange your work.”

“Wo… work?” Lin Fan blinked, looking bewildered.

“We don’t support idlers here.” The burly man glanced at her, his tone still devoid of any emotion. “Even as a woman, you must offer your value to the goddess.”

After speaking, he paid no mind to Lin Fan’s reaction and turned to leave, muttering something about “it’s almost time for the Divine Emissary’s sermon.”

Lin Fan watched the burly man’s retreating back, the corner of her mouth hooking into an almost imperceptible, playful arc.

Interesting.

Very interesting.
