Skinwalker Belle – Chapter 275 – The Last Supper
The air on the Chuanxi Plateau was cold and thin, but it did nothing to dampen the post-calamity enthusiasm of the two groups.
A bonfire blazed, dispelling the chill of the plateau night.
The commander of the Chuanxi Base, Chen Mo, a burly, honest-looking middle-aged man, was enthusiastically holding up a bottle of strong white liquor, offering it to Chu Chen, who was squatting on a rock.
“Chu Chen, say no more! Consider this meal my treat to welcome you!” Chen Mo’s voice was as loud as a bell. “We’re poor here in Chuanxi, we don’t have much, but this liquor is grain alcohol that’s been buried for years! There’s plenty to go around!”
Chu Chen, his eyes ringed with dark circles, pulled a lollipop from his pocket, stuck it in his mouth, and waved his hand dismissively. His voice was somewhat languid.
“I appreciate the sentiment, but I’ll pass on the liquor. My people have traveled a long way and aren’t used to the food here. We brought our own rations.”
“Hey! You’re not treating me like a brother!” Chen Mo’s eyes widened.
Chu Chen just gave a faint smile without explaining.
Not far away, a shirtless Ah Hu had his arm around a few Chuanxi veterans, boasting animatedly about Lei Jie’s glorious past deeds. He recounted everything from her cleaving through an entire street with a watermelon knife to her transforming into flames to single-handedly fight a Zombie queen, drawing gasps of amazement from the group of plateau men.
Su Xiaoxiao, leading the fox-kin girls, distributed the dried meat they had brought while curiously listening to the stories about her sister. The atmosphere was cheerful and harmonious, as if the gloom of the apocalypse had dissipated just a little.
Everything seemed so perfect.
Until…
“Ugh…”
A Chuanxi soldier who was handing a cigarette to Ah Hu suddenly went rigid. His neck twisted at a bizarre angle, making a sound like grinding bones.
“Brother? What’s wrong with you? Got a cramp?” Ah Hu slapped his shoulder nonchalantly.

However, the soldier didn’t respond.
He just slowly raised his head. His once-honest pupils were now filled with an icy numbness, and a dense web of black veins spread from the corners of his eyes like a spiderweb.
It wasn’t just him.
“Hh… Hh…”
Chen Mo, who had been clinking glasses with Zhou Ming, began to convulse violently. The liquor bottle in his hand crashed to the ground with a clang.
The muscles on his body bulged like lumps of earth. Beneath his skin, black veins protruded like writhing earthworms, and a violent aura far exceeding his previous Level 3 standard erupted from him!
“Brother Chen?!” Zhou Ming’s expression changed.
At the same time, the clamor by the bonfire died abruptly.
All the soldiers from the Chuanxi Base, men and women alike, regardless of what they were doing, now stood stiffly, making the same inhuman, convulsive sounds.
Their strength was increasing at a visible rate!
Ordinary soldiers who were only at the early stage of Level 3 instantly broke through the barrier, reaching the late stage of Level 3!
And those elite combatants who were already at the peak of Level 3 broke through their shackles directly, reaching Level 4!
Their sanity had not disappeared. After the convulsions, their numb eyes locked in unison onto every person from Magic City near them.
Those gazes were cold, alien, and filled with undisguised… killing intent.

“Pfft!”
Before Ah Hu could even react, the soldier who had been calling him brother just moments ago, his face twisted into a strange, stiff smile, swung a tactical dagger in a backhand motion, viciously slicing open the flesh on his chest!
“You motherfucker…” Ah Hu’s eyes went wide with disbelief.
Blood spurted out.
This roar was like a signal.
“Kill!”
The completely transformed Chen Mo let out a guttural roar. His fist, now covered in black scales, tore through the air with a whistle as it shot straight for the nearby Chu Chen!
The sudden betrayal threw the entire Magic City team into chaos!
“Watch out!”
“They’ve gone crazy!”
Screams, roars, and the sound of blades sinking into flesh instantly echoed throughout the camp.
The Magic City warriors were caught completely off guard. The vigilance they had just let down became the deadliest poison. In the first clash, dozens of them fell into pools of their own blood.
At this critical moment, a brilliant and gentle green light, like a miracle, instantly enveloped the entire chaotic battlefield!
“All wounded, fall back!”

A clear and resolute cry rang out!
Sun Jing floated in mid-air, her high ponytail swaying without any wind. Her hands were clasped together as the immense life energy of a Level 6 healing-type Evolved being poured out without reservation!
Wherever the green light touched, the gruesome wound on Ah Hu’s chest healed at a visible rate. The wails of the other heavily injured members instantly turned into gasps of astonishment.
Their life force was instantly replenished!
“Second Battalion! Suppressing fire! Zhou Ming! Protect the commander!” Shi Ming’s deep, battle-hardened voice was the first to be heard amidst the formation.
“Roger!”
Zhou Ming’s figure flashed, appearing between Chen Mo and Chu Chen. A spatial barrier instantly unfolded, just barely blocking the ferocious punch.
“Damn it!” Ah Hu clutched his already-healed chest, his eyes bloodshot. With a roar, his muscles bulged as he lunged at the soldier who had ambushed him.
At the same time, all the warriors of the Second Battalion quickly distanced themselves from the mutated soldiers.
After the initial chaos, the elite troops of Magic City immediately displayed their terrifying combat proficiency!
They swiftly formed battle formations, their offense and defense orderly, their coordination seamless. They managed to withstand the frenzied assault of their power-boosted “allies” while also protecting the tens of thousands of ordinary survivors they had brought with them!
The entire battlefield was a chaotic mess.
Only one person remained exceptionally calm from beginning to end.
Chu Chen hadn’t even moved from the rock. He simply leaned back slightly, dodging the aftershock of Chen Mo’s attack.

He squatted there, chewing on his lollipop with a crisp “crunch, crunch.” His dark eyes were fixed on Chen Mo, who had completely turned into a monster. There was no panic in his gaze, no anger.
“Just as I thought,” he whispered softly, as if talking to himself.
“Chu Chen!” Zhou Ming shouted anxiously as he struggled to maintain the spatial barrier against Chen Mo’s storm of attacks. “What in the world is going on? Did the virus evolve?”
“It’s not a virus.”
Chu Chen shook his head, his gaze sweeping over the Chuanxi soldiers who, despite their increased strength, moved with a faint hint of stiffness.
“This is a forced evolution that can be controlled remotely.”
He slowly stood up, patting the dust off his pants. His gaze passed over the chaotic battlefield and landed on the supply crates belonging to the Chuanxi Base, which had been abandoned by the Magic City warriors.
“A month ago, the Federation sent a batch of ‘aid supplies’.”
Chu Chen’s voice wasn’t loud, but it reached the ears of Zhou Ming and Sun Jing clearly.
“I sealed them all away in the Magic City warehouse.”
Zhou Ming instantly understood, his pupils contracting violently.
“You mean…”
“It was the supplies.”
