Skinwalker Belle – Chapter 31 – The Benevolence of a Healer
Skinwalker Belle – Chapter 31 – The Benevolence of a Healer
Early morning.
Lin Fan didn’t wake up naturally. She was jolted awake by a sharp pain in her shoulder.
A tearing agony radiated from deep within the wound, causing her to curl up instinctively.
She tried to move his injured left arm, and the piercing pain immediately made her suck in a sharp breath.
At least half a month.
Lin Fan made the judgment using her Intermediate Medical Skill.
This body’s recovery ability was even worse than she had imagined.
Compared to Zhou Ming’s freakish constitution, who could recover seventy to eighty percent from a bullet graze in just three days.
“A physical constitution of only seven points. It really is too weak.”
Lin Fan cursed inwardly.
Strength, speed, stamina, recovery ability… everything was pitifully weak.
She sat up, her gaze falling on the clothes rack beside her.
The blood-stained white coat hung there, the dried blood a dark brown, emitting a faint, metallic smell.
It couldn’t be worn again.
Lin Fan threw off the covers, got out of bed, and walked to the small wardrobe in the infirmary.
This was Chen Yao’s personal wardrobe.
She pulled the door open.
It was empty inside, save for a single, neatly folded set of clothes.
A JK uniform.
A white, sailor-style shirt with a red bow tied at the collar.
A dark blue plaid skirt, its pleats immaculate.
Next to it was a pair of thin, black, calf-high stockings.
Lin Fan’s brow furrowed almost imperceptibly.
From Chen Yao’s memories, she knew this was the only set of clothes she had on when Lei Li rescued her.
When the apocalypse broke out, she had been on her way to a comic convention.
No other choice.
Lin Fan sighed and began to change.
Having grown accustomed to the full curves of Liu Ruyan’s body, putting on the underwear for Chen Yao’s petite frame felt empty and a little strange.

She put on the white sailor shirt and fastened the buttons.
Then came the plaid skirt.
The skirt was very short, barely covering the tops of his thighs.
Finally, she sat back on the edge of the bed and put on the black stockings and little leather shoes.
Lin Fan stood up and walked to the small full-length mirror in the infirmary.
In the mirror, a “girl” about one and a half meters tall was looking back at her.
Pigtails, big eyes, white shirt, plaid skirt.
Her fair thighs were wrapped in black stockings, exuding the allure of absolute territory.
If not for the thick bandages wrapped around her left shoulder and a face that was overly pale from blood loss, this appearance was the very picture of a standard loli who had walked straight out of a 2D world.
Cute, harmless, and capable of stirring anyone’s most primal protective instincts.
“Heh.”
Lin Fan tugged at the corner of her mouth.
Compared to the kind of sexiness Liu Ruyan possessed, which made men want to conquer her, Chen Yao’s shell was a far more lethal weapon.
It made people instinctively want to protect her.
Knock, knock, knock!
A series of urgent knocks sounded, followed by a man’s anxious shout from outside.
“Doctor Chen! Quick! Ah Hu is dying!”
Lin Fan’s eyes sharpened, and he immediately pulled the door open.
Outside, two men were supporting a burly man covered in blood. The man had a terrifying wound on his abdomen, and his face was as pale as paper.
The thick stench of blood assaulted his senses.
“Quick! Get him on the bed!”
Lin Fan’s voice instantly became calm and professional, completely devoid of its earlier fragility.
She strode to the injured man’s side, her eyes quickly scanning the wound.
Fortunately, it wasn’t a zombie scratch. It was likely caused by a sharp steel bar when he fell.
The wound was extremely deep and showed signs of infection.
“Where’s Lei-jie? How is the cleanup operation going?” Lin Fan asked without looking up as she examined the injury.
“Still on the fourth floor! Those bastards in the fitness center are too tough! The guys are having trouble holding them back!” one of the men answered, panting.

The fourth floor, the fitness center.
A structural map of the building immediately appeared in Lin Fan’s mind.
Looking in from the entrance, one could see a huge swimming pool at the very back. If they could clear it out and fill it with water, with regular sterilization and disinfection, it would be the equivalent of a small reservoir.
In an apocalypse where the water supply would soon be cut off, the significance of this was self-evident.
But by the same token, the risk was enormous.
The zombies in the gym had all been muscular men in life; they would only be stronger after mutating.
“Ah—!”
Ah Hu, on the sickbed, let out a pained scream, his body convulsing violently.
“Doctor Chen! Save him!”
“Everyone out!” Lin Fan ordered sharply. “Close the door! No one is to come in without my permission!”
The two men were stunned by his commanding presence. They hesitated for a moment, then obediently retreated and closed the door.
In the infirmary, only Lin Fan and the dying man remained.
Her surgical experience and talent told her: the target has a severe abdominal laceration, intestinal damage, internal bleeding, and a possible risk of zombie virus infection.
Lin Fan’s expression turned cold.
In her current state, with her left arm immobile, it was impossible for her to perform such a difficult surgery.
But she couldn’t let Ah Hu die.
Ah Hu was a core combatant of the stronghold.
Saving her would not only earn him Lei Li’s immense gratitude but also firmly establish her own irreplaceable status as a doctor.
Bang!
The door was violently pushed open.
Lei Li rushed in, reeking of blood and killing intent. When she saw Ah Hu on the bed, her expression instantly became incredibly grim.
“Xiao Yao, he…”
“He can still be saved.”
Lin Fan cut her off. Her voice wasn’t loud, but it was exceptionally firm.
A glimmer of hope flashed in Lei Li’s eyes.
“What do you need? Just say it!”
“I need assistants.” Lin Fan’s gaze shifted to the doorway, where several logistics girls who had rushed over upon hearing the news were gathered, their faces pale with fright.

“Xiao Min,” Lin Fan pointed to the seamstress girl she recognized from his memories. “Your hands are the steadiest. Come here and be my assistant.”
Xiao Min trembled in fear, waving her hands frantically.
“I… I can’t, Doctor Chen. I faint at the sight of blood…”
“There is no ‘can’t’!” Lin Fan’s voice suddenly rose, filled with an authority that brooked no argument. “Right now, immediately, wash and disinfect your hands! Get over here!”
Her gaze was like a sharp blade, preventing Xiao Min from daring to object further. She could only tremble and do as she was told.
“And you,” Lin Fan pointed to another girl who worked in the kitchen. “Go boil water, as much as possible! Prepare a large amount of saline solution!”
“Scalpel, sutures, hemostats, gauze, alcohol! Quickly!”
In an instant, the originally panicked crowd seemed to have found its backbone.
Under Lin Fan’s clear and forceful commands, everyone began to move in an orderly fashion.
Lei Li stood to the side, watching this petite figure in a JK uniform directing everyone to handle the life-and-death crisis.
She herself was injured, her face as pale as paper, but her eyes burned with a reassuring fire.
Calm, professional, decisive.
Soon, all the tools were ready.
Xiao Min wore a mask, her hands trembling like a sieve.
“Doctor Chen… I…”
“Follow my instructions.” Lin Fan sat on a chair. She was feeling a bit dizzy from the blood loss.
“Use alcohol to disinfect a large area around the wound. Three times.”
Xiao Min tremblingly picked up a cotton ball and did as he said.
“Good. Now, use the forceps, and slowly… push his intestines that have spilled out… back in.”
“Huh?!” Xiao Min was so scared she almost dropped the forceps.
“Don’t be afraid.” Lin Fan’s voice softened slightly. “Just like when you’re sewing clothes, treat it like a piece of fabric. Be gentle, don’t tear it.”
Soothed and guided by Lin Fan, Xiao Min took a deep breath and finally mustered the courage to clamp the slippery intestine with the forceps.
Time ticked by, second by second.
The only sounds in the infirmary were Lin Fan’s calm commands and the soft clinking of metal instruments.
“Find the rupture point… yes, right there.”
“Clamp it with the hemostat.”
“Thread the needle, suture. One stitch, then another… very good, your hands are very steady.”

Lei Li stood nearby, not daring to breathe.
She watched as Xiao Min, under Chen Yao’s remote command, was actually performing abdominal surgery.
This was simply unbelievable!
And yet, it was happening right before her eyes.
Half an hour later.
When Xiao Min stitched the final suture on Ah Hu’s stomach, she was completely drained and collapsed directly onto the floor.
The surgery was complete.
Lin Fan also let out a long breath, her back soaked with cold sweat.
She walked to the sickbed and checked Ah Hu’s vital signs.
His breathing had stabilized.
His heartbeat had regained its strength.
“He’ll live,” Lin Fan said softly.
Outside the door, the crowd that had been eavesdropping on the proceedings erupted into a thunderous cheer!
“It worked! Ah Hu is alive!”
“Oh my god! Is Doctor Chen a god?!”
Lei Li strode quickly to the bedside, reached out to check Ah Hu’s breathing, and then felt for his pulse.
He really… was alive!
She spun around abruptly, her eyes filled with unprecedented shock and gratitude as she looked at the petite figure swaying from exhaustion.
She stepped forward and caught Lin Fan in one swift motion.
“Xiao Yao!”
“I’m fine, Lei-jie.” Lin Fan squeezed out a weak smile. “Just a little tired.”
“Don’t talk.” Lei Li’s voice trembled slightly as she swept Lin Fan up into a princess carry.
Her movements were so gentle, as if she were handling a priceless treasure.
She gently placed Lin Fan on another clean bed and covered her with a blanket.
“Get some rest.” Lei Li looked at him deeply, her tone incredibly solemn.
“From now on, your safety is this stronghold’s highest priority.”
“No one, and nothing, is allowed to harm you.”
