Skinwalker Belle – Chapter 347 – Tribal Conflict

In the heart of the Forest of Elves, the concentration of Spirit Energy in the air was nearly at the point of liquefaction.

There was none of the dark, damp, rotting stench found in the outer regions. Instead, enormous luminous plants grew everywhere, like a Western fantasy world straight out of a movie.

At the center of it all lay the vast expanse of water known as the Spirit Lake.

It had been as calm as a flawless sapphire.

But now, that tranquility was shattered by the thunderous pounding of hooves and furious roars.

“Bambi! You twig-wielding wenches, this water—I’m drinking it today, whether you like it or not!”

The roar was like thunder, shaking the broadleaf forest around the lake.

The speaker was a massive centaur.

He stood over three meters tall. His lower body was that of a fierce black stallion, muscles knotted and thick, with heavy iron armor wrapped around his hooves. Every step he took left a deep crater in the ground.

His upper body was that of a burly human man with a face full of hard flesh. His chest was bare, and in his hands he wielded a double-bladed battle axe as large as a door panel.

Mid sixth-rank, Centaur Chieftain Kane.

Behind him stood over two hundred centaur warriors, all outfitted as heavy cavalry, radiating murderous intent.

Facing them were several dozen Deer-folk—tall and slender, with antlers sprouting from their heads.

Leading them was a woman.

She had long, light-green hair and fair skin. Garments made of leaves covered her vital areas.

Her lower body was that of a sika deer, light and graceful.

Though she was much smaller in stature than the burly centaur, her aura was far more refined.

Also mid sixth-rank.

Chieftain of the Deer-folk, Bambi.

“Kane, according to the pact made a year ago, today is the Deer-folk’s day to draw water.”

Bambi’s voice was cold and clear. In her hand she gripped a spear made from an ironwood branch, and the vines around her seemed to heed her call, slowly emerging from the earth like dozens of vipers poised to strike.

“Pact? Ha!”

The centaur leader called Kane spat a thick glob of phlegm onto the ground, leaving a crater where it landed.

“That scrap of sheepskin went to wipe my ass long ago! In this world, whoever’s got the bigger fist makes the rules! My people are thirsty, and they need water. Simple as that!”

“You’re declaring war.” Bambi’s gaze turned icy as she slammed the butt of her spear into the ground.

“Then so be it! Boys, charge! Crush the males into pulp, and take the females back!”

Kane let out a wild laugh and slammed all four hooves into the ground.

BOOM!

Over two hundred centaurs charging at once—what a terrifying sight that was.

The earth groaned, gravel flew everywhere, and they came like a black tide of steel, crashing into the Deer-folk’s formation with unstoppable force.

…

Five hundred meters from the battlefield, atop a hundred-meter-tall ancient tree.

Lin Fan sat on a branch, her legs—clad in black stockings—swinging idly. In her hand she held a strange wild fruit she’d swiped from the Serpent-folk, munching on it with crisp crunching sounds.

Watching the spectacle, she couldn’t help but offer commentary.

“These centaurs really are thick-skinned and tough. Especially that one called Kane—with mid sixth-rank strength combined with that charging momentum, even most late sixth-ranks wouldn’t dare take him head-on.”

On the battlefield, the two sides had already clashed.

The Deer-folk were clearly prepared.

Countless thick vines burst up from the ground, trying to entangle the centaurs’ hooves.

Meanwhile, the Deer-folk archers in the back ranks drew their bows, and arrows trailing green light poured down like a torrential storm.

But the centaurs’ hides were too thick.

On top of that, they wore crude yet sturdy leather armor, and the arrows clattered against them, most bouncing harmlessly off.

Though a few unlucky ones tripped over vines and were instantly trampled into pulp, the main force still broke through the line.

Squelch!

Kane’s massive axe swept horizontally, cleaving a third-tier male Deer-folk clean in two—man and bow alike—as blood instantly dyed the lakeshore red.

“AHH!!”

Screams rang out one after another.

This was the devastating power of heavy cavalry charging.

Once they got in close, the Deer-folk’s frail little bodies stood no chance at all.

Lin Fan, however, was in no hurry to act.

Her gaze lingered strangely on a female centaur who was mid-battle.

That female centaur was rather handsome in appearance. Her upper body wore a beast-hide bandeau, her wheat-colored skin radiating a wild, primal strength. She wielded a massive knight’s lance and was chasing after a Deer-folk girl, jabbing at her.

“The centaur race—their anatomy is quite fascinating.” Lin Fan rubbed her chin, a strong glint of curiosity in her eyes. “Upper body human, lower body horse. So if they get pregnant, does the child grow in the human belly or the horse belly?”

She pondered for a long while but couldn’t figure it out.

“Forget it.”

Lin Fan stood up and clapped her hands.

The battle below had already turned into a one-sided rout.

Though Bambi, the Deer-folk chieftain, had used her powerful tree-manipulation abilities to block Kane’s charge with walls of thorny vines—even leaving a wound deep enough to show bone on Kane’s horse-leg—the rest of her kin couldn’t hold on.

The centaurs outnumbered the Deer-folk three to one, and with their unreasonable brute strength, the Deer-folk’s defensive line had completely collapsed.

At the center of the battlefield.

Kane swung his massive axe, once again forcing Bambi back.

“HAHAHAHA! Bambi, stop struggling! Today I’m going to slaughter every male Deer-folk and take all the women back to breed with my brothers!”

Kane laughed wildly, his brutish, fleshy face covered in blood.

Bambi gasped for breath, her delicate vine-woven soft armor already tattered, revealing large swaths of snow-white skin.

Her hand gripping the spear trembled, and her eyes were filled with despair.

Was their tribe truly doomed today?

“DIE!”

Kane spotted his opening. His four hooves suddenly surged with power, launching his entire body like a cannonball. His massive axe descended with the force to split mountains and crack stone, aimed straight for the crown of Bambi’s head.

This blow was impossible to dodge!

Bambi clenched her teeth, preparing to detonate the Crystal within her core and take him down with her.

Just then.

HUM—!

The world suddenly fell silent.

Not the silence of sound disappearing, but a deathly stillness that forcibly suppressed even the air, the wind, and the very beating of hearts.

An indescribable, terrifying pressure descended from the heavens without warning.

As if the entire sky itself had collapsed.

“CRACK!”

Kane, who had been soaring through the air in all his arrogance, was struck as if by an invisible giant hand delivering a vicious slap.

He didn’t even have time to scream. His massive body, weighing nearly a ton, slammed into the ground at a speed faster than his charge.

BOOM!

The ground trembled, and dust billowed into the air.

Kane’s entire body… or rather, his entire horse form, was slammed hard into the dirt. Who knew how many bones in him had snapped, blood gushing wildly from his mouth.

“Who?!”

“What’s going on?!”
