Skinwalker Belle – Chapter 41 – Giant Threat

The early morning sun shone through the glass curtain wall of the Fragrant Hills International building, spilling into the lobby. Lin Fan, dressed in her now-clean white lab coat, stood in the middle of the crowd.

Although the bloodstains on the lab coat had been washed out, faint traces were still visible.

She had chosen this outfit deliberately.

In the upcoming great battle, the image of a doctor would make her seem more harmless.

“Everyone, listen up!”

Lei Li stood in the center of the lobby, her voice echoing throughout the space.

“Today’s operation is a matter of life and death for all of us!”

“No one can let their guard down!”

Lin Fan looked up at Lei Li, inwardly marveling at her presence.

This kind of natural leadership truly made people willing to follow her.

But soon, all of this would belong to her.

“Molotov cocktail throwing team!”

Lei Li pointed to ten carefully selected, sturdy men.

“You’ll work in pairs of two, taking turns throwing to ensure continuous firepower!”

“Yes!” the ten men answered in unison.

“Guiding team!”

Lei Li turned to three slender, agile young people.

“Your mission is the most dangerous, but also the most crucial!”

“You must stick to the plan and not get bogged down in fighting!”

The three nodded nervously.

Lin Fan noticed that one of them had a hand that was trembling slightly.

It seemed not everyone had Lei Li’s courage.

“The Crossbow team is responsible for cleaning up any that get through!”

“The Melee team is the last line of defense!”

Lei Li’s gaze swept over everyone.

“Remember, we only have one chance!”

“If we succeed, this building will be our home!”

“If we fail…”

She didn’t finish, but everyone understood the consequences of failure.

Lin Fan raised her small hand.

“Lei-jie, where will I be?”

Lei Li walked over to her and gently stroked her hair.

“Xiao Yao, you just stay in the safe zone.”

“If anyone gets injured, you’ll be responsible for treating them.”

Lin Fan nodded obediently.

“I understand. Lei-jie, you have to be careful.”

A warmth spread through Lei Li’s heart; this little girl was always so considerate.

“Don’t worry, Lei-jie is very strong.”

Seven o’clock in the morning.

Everyone was in position.

Lei Li raised the walkie-talkie in her hand.

“Guiding team, begin the operation!”

The three young people rushed toward the stairs and quickly disappeared into the stairwell.

A few minutes later, a loud crashing sound came from the eighteenth floor.

That was them removing the obstacles.

Immediately after, the piercing sound of metal striking metal rang out.

Clang! Clang! Clang!

The sound echoed throughout the entire building.

Lin Fan could clearly hear the roars coming from upstairs.

The zombies had been awakened.

“They’re coming!”

The voice of one of the guides came through the walkie-talkie.

“Damn it, there are so many!”

“Run!”

The sound of footsteps came from the stairwell.

The three guides were running for their lives down the stairs.

Following behind them was a dense horde of zombies.

Standing in the safe zone, Lin Fan had a clear view of the situation at the stairwell entrance.

The first guide burst out of the stairwell, his face pale and drenched in sweat.

The second and third followed close behind.

Then came the zombies.

One, two, ten, dozens…

A dark, oppressive horde of zombies poured out of the stairwell entrance.

They let out shrill roars, their eyes glinting with a blood-red light.

“Throw!”

Lei Li gave the order.

The Molotov cocktails, two at a time, flew in turns toward the horde of zombies.

“Boom!”

Flames instantly engulfed the stairwell entrance.

The zombies struggled in the fire, letting out blood-curdling screams.

But more zombies poured down from the floors above.

They trampled over the bodies of their own kind, charging toward the human defensive line.

“Keep throwing!”

The second round of Molotov cocktails flew out.

The wall of fire grew higher, and the entire stairwell entrance was enveloped in flames.

Lin Fan observed the battle from the safe zone.

Lei Li’s tactics were indeed effective.

Most of the zombies were trapped in the wall of fire, unable to break through.

The few that occasionally broke through the flames were accurately shot down by the crossbowmen.

The battle was proceeding with unusual smoothness.

Two hours later, all the zombies from the eighteenth to the sixteenth floors had been cleared out.

The lobby was filled with a scorched smell, and the ground was piled high with the remains of zombies.

“Rest for ten minutes!”

Lei Li issued the command.

“Restock ammunition and Molotov cocktails!”

Everyone began to busy themselves.

Lin Fan walked over to the fighters who had lured the zombies, treating the scrapes they had gotten while fleeing.

“Doctor Xiao Yao, your medical skills are amazing,” a young man said gratefully.

“A small scratch like this is nothing.”

Lin Fan smiled sweetly.

“Everyone was very brave.”

Lei Li walked over to Lin Fan’s side.

“Xiao Yao, thank you for your hard work.”

“It’s no trouble. Lei-jie is the one working hard.”

Lin Fan looked up at her.

“Lei-jie, there are still more than ten floors to go.”

“You need to take care of yourself.”

Lei Li’s heart stirred. This little girl was always so concerned about her.

“Don’t worry, Lei-jie is in great shape.”

Ten minutes later, the battle resumed.

The guides once again charged upstairs.

This time, it was the fifteenth floor.

Soon, the familiar crashing sounds rang out again.

But this time, something was different.

The impacts were heavier, more powerful.

Thud! Thud! Thud!

It sounded like something enormous was ramming against the walls.

Lin Fan frowned.

That sound… wasn’t right.

“They’re coming!”

A guide’s voice came through the walkie-talkie.

But this time, their voices were laced with panic.

“Quick! Run!”

“What the hell is this thing!”

The sound of footsteps came from the stairwell.

But this time, besides human footsteps, there was another sound.

A heavy, slow footfall.

Thump… thump… thump…

Each step was like a heavy hammer striking the ground.

The first guide burst out of the stairwell.

His face wasn’t just pale; it was ashen.

“Lei-jie!”

He shouted.

“We have a situation!”

Immediately after, the other guides also rushed out.

Then came the regular zombies.

But behind the horde of zombies, a massive figure appeared.

It was a male zombie.

But its size…

Lin Fan’s eyes widened.

This zombie was at least three meters tall!

Its entire body was a mass of knotted muscles, like an overinflated balloon.

Its skin had an unnatural red hue, with blood vessels clearly visible.

The most terrifying thing was its strength.

It smashed a fist against the wall, and the entire wall trembled.

“Throw!”

Lei Li immediately ordered.

Molotov cocktails flew toward the horde of zombies.

The flames engulfed the regular zombies, but that giant zombie…

It charged straight through the wall of fire!

Flames burned on its body, but it seemed to feel nothing.

Its skin was charred black, but it continued to charge forward.

“Damn it!” a fighter exclaimed.

“What is this monster!”

The giant zombie charged up to the defensive line.

It raised its massive fist and smashed it viciously into the table blocking its path.

Boom!

The table was instantly sent flying by the immense force.

A gap was torn in the defensive line.

“Melee team, advance!”

Lei Li drew her twin blades and was the first to charge toward the giant zombie.

But everyone else was stunned by the monster’s size.

In front of this giant zombie, their weapons seemed like they would only tickle it.

Lei Li rushed in front of the giant zombie, her twin blades slashing crosswise at its waist.

Clang!

The blades struck the giant zombie’s skin, producing the sound of metal hitting metal.

They only left two shallow marks.

The giant zombie turned, its massive fist smashing toward Lei Li.

Lei Li dodged quickly, and the fist slammed into the ground.

The marble floor instantly cracked.

Lin Fan watched from the safe zone, her heart pounding with fear.

This giant zombie’s strength was too terrifying.

Even Lei Li couldn’t face it head-on.

But she soon discovered the zombie’s weakness.

Although its strength was immense, its movements were extremely slow.

Every attack had a clear tell.

Lei Li began to circle it, continuously attacking its joints and vital points with her twin blades.

Although each slash did limited damage, it added up.

The giant zombie grew angrier, and its attacks became more frantic.

But it could never touch the agile Lei Li.

“Everyone, support Lei-jie!”

Ah Hu shouted.

“Use the crossbows to shoot its eyes!”

A rain of arrows shot toward the giant zombie.

Most of the arrows were deflected by its thick skin.

But a few hit its eyes.

The giant zombie let out a deafening roar.

It covered its eyes with one hand, swinging its other arm wildly.

Lei Li seized the opportunity, thrusting her twin blades into its neck.

This time, the blades sank deep into its flesh.

Black blood gushed out.

The giant zombie swayed on its feet and finally crashed to the ground with a thunderous thud.
