Skinwalker Belle – Chapter 50 – Armored Vehicle
Skinwalker Belle – Chapter 50 – Armored Vehicle
The car jolted along the rugged mountain road.
Lin Fan gripped the steering wheel tightly, but her gaze kept drifting to the rearview mirror.
In the mirror, the silhouette of the military camp had long since disappeared.
But the figure of the woman in white grew ever clearer in her mind.
That flawless face.
Those eyes, as black as the abyss.
And that terrifying ability to control the horde of zombies…
This skin… she was determined to have it.
“Xiao Yao, slow down.”
Lei Li’s voice, tinged with exhaustion, suddenly sounded beside her.
Lin Fan’s thoughts snapped back in an instant. She immediately put on Chen Yao’s innocent and harmless expression, her voice soft and sweet as she replied.
“Ah? Okay, Lei-jie.”
She obediently slowed the car down.
“You were scared just now, weren’t you?” Lei Li reached out and habitually ruffled her hair.
“Mhm…” Lin Fan’s voice carried the perfect hint of a lingering, fearful tremble. “That woman… her eyes were so scary.”
“It’s okay now,” Lei Li’s voice softened. “We’re safe.”
The car soon climbed a slope, with the temporary observation post set up by Xiao Wang and the others just ahead.
From a distance, Lin Fan could see Xiao Wang’s extremely anxious figure.
He was holding a walkie-talkie, seemingly trying in vain to call someone.
“Xiao Wang!”
Lei Li leaned out of the car window.
“Lei-jie! You’re finally back!”

Xiao Wang looked as if he had seen his saviors, scrambling over to them with a face full of panic.
“Ah Hu and the others… something’s happened to them!”
“What is it?” Lei Li shoved the car door open and jumped out.
“I was just looking with the drone… their vehicle… it flipped over.”
What?
A flicker of movement stirred in Lin Fan’s heart, but her face showed the appropriate amount of shock.
Zhou Ming and Xiao Li also rushed out of the car.
“It flipped? What about the people?” Zhou Ming asked urgently.
“I don’t know… I can’t see clearly.” Xiao Wang pointed toward the military camp in the distance, his voice trembling. “The vehicle flipped over near the training grounds, but… but I didn’t see anyone get out.”
Lei Li’s expression instantly darkened.
“Dammit!”
She slammed her fist hard against the car door, which let out a dull thud.
“It’s all my fault. I shouldn’t have agreed to that plan.”
“Lei-jie, don’t say that.”
Lin Fan immediately sidled up to her like a little kitten, gently taking her arm with her own soft ones.
“Brother Ah Hu and the others are so capable. They’ll definitely be fine.”
“But…”
“Maybe they just found a place to hide?” Lin Fan tilted her head up, looking at Lei Li with those worldly-innocent eyes. “Didn’t Brother Ah Hu say it? He was a military driver. He must have a way.”
Looking into those eyes full of trust and dependence, the self-blame and frustration in Lei Li’s chest subsided slightly.
“Let’s hope so.”
“I’ll look again! I’ll take a closer look!” Xiao Wang fumbled with the drone controls again.

The screen soon transmitted the image.
The overturned combat vehicle lay isolated in the middle of the training grounds, its doors open and the inside indeed empty.
On the ground around it were scattered glass shards from Molotov cocktails.
“They escaped.” Xiao Li, sharp-eyed, breathed a sigh of relief. “The doors were opened from the inside. They definitely got out on their own.”
“But where did they go?”
Lin Fan stared at the screen, her mind racing with calculations.
She didn’t care if Ah Hu lived or died.
But if he died, Lei Li’s emotional state would become very unstable, which could affect her own plans.
“Wait!”
Xiao Wang suddenly let out a cry of alarm, his finger almost poking through the screen.
“Look over there!”
The drone’s camera swung sharply to the other side of the military camp.
A much larger and heavier armored vehicle, one they had never seen before, was slowly driving out from a garage deep within the camp.
Mounted on its roof was a menacing heavy machine gun.
“What is that?” Zhou Ming’s eyes went wide.
The armored vehicle, like a steel behemoth, charged through the ruins, completely ignoring the shambling zombies.
Any zombie that tried to block its path was like an egg hitting a stone, instantly reduced to a pile of mush.
“There are people in the vehicle!” Xiao Wang exclaimed, adjusting the focus. “There are figures in the driver’s cabin!”
Everyone’s heart leaped into their throats.
“It’s Ah Hu!”
As the armored vehicle drove out of the shadows, Xiao Li was the first to clearly see the person in the driver’s seat and jumped up in excitement.

“It’s Ah Hu driving!”
Lei Li’s tense body finally relaxed at that moment.
The armored vehicle roared up the slope and came to a steady stop in front of them.
With a click, the heavy door opened.
Ah Hu jumped down from the driver’s seat, his face filled with the exhilaration of having survived a disaster.
“Lei-jie! We’ve struck it rich!”
Following him, two other brothers climbed out of the vehicle. All three were safe and sound.
“As long as you’re okay.”
Lei Li walked up and punched Ah Hu on the shoulder, a rare smile on her face.
“You scared me to death just now.”
“Hehe, it was nothing.” Ah Hu patted the steel giant behind him proudly. “After we flipped, we found a place to hide. I suddenly remembered that a military camp of this size couldn’t possibly be without heavy armored units.”
“So you went and stole one?” Zhou Ming also started laughing.
“How’s the vehicle?” Lei Li circled the armored vehicle as if admiring a work of art.
“Tough! Super tough!” Ah Hu’s introduction was full of pride. “The armor is at least twenty millimeters thick. Regular bullets would just be tickling it. The heavy machine gun on top has plenty of ammo, and it’s a fully enclosed structure. Those damn things can’t even climb it!”
Lin Fan also walked over, her fingertips tracing the cold armor plating.
It was indeed a fine piece of equipment.
With this, her chances would be much better the next time she went to that military camp.
“By the way, what did you guys run into at the armory?” Ah Hu’s smile vanished as he asked curiously. “Those zombies chased us halfway and then suddenly all went back. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have been able to steal this armored vehicle so easily.”
Lei Li’s expression instantly turned grave.
“A monster.”
She briefly described the existence of the woman in white.

After hearing her account, the faces of Ah Hu and his men changed as well.
“Are you kidding? Zombies can command a battle?”
“It’s the absolute truth,” Zhou Ming said in a low voice. “The tactical coordination of those officer zombies was definitely under her command.”
“And… she can think,” Xiao Li added, as if recalling those eyes again. “That feeling… it wasn’t like a zombie at all.”
Ah Hu sucked in a cold breath.
“What the hell is happening to this world…”
“Let’s head back to the base first,” Lei Li interrupted the discussion. “We’ve gained enough today. There’s no need to stir up more trouble.”
Everyone immediately began to pack up, preparing to return.
Lin Fan got into the driver’s seat of their original car.
Lei Li got into the passenger seat. Because the armored vehicle was very spacious, Lei Li had the others get into it.
They also moved most of the weapons they had acquired into the armored vehicle.
“Xiao Yao, what are you thinking about?” Lei Li sat down beside her, putting an arm around her shoulder.
“N-Nothing.” Lin Fan immediately opened her eyes, flashing a cloyingly sweet smile. “I was just thinking, with this vehicle, Lei-jie will be even safer in the future.”
Lei Li’s heart was touched.
She pinched Lin Fan’s cheek.
“You’ll be safer too.”
The armored vehicle slowly started up, carrying a full load of weapons and hope as it headed toward Fragrant Hills International.
And behind them, deep within the military camp.
The white-clothed zombie queen suddenly let out a piercing shriek. Countless zombies rushed out of the camp at an even faster speed, charging toward Lei Li’s departing group.
