Skinwalker Belle – Chapter 513 – White Light in Despair
Long Ye and Long Junshan hovered in midair.
Long Ye studied Mao Shi, his gaze full of scrutiny.
“Level six.”
Long Ye descended to the ground, retracting most of his pressure.
Mao Shi immediately felt the weight on his back lighten. He straightened up, shielding the short-haired woman firmly behind him.
Long Ye casually pulled out a level-seven Crystal and tossed it at Mao Shi’s feet.
The Crystal radiated a dense wave of energy.
“Blue Star human, let’s make a deal.”
Long Ye clasped his hands behind his back, his tone gentle.
“Tell me where the other High-order Evolvers are hiding.”
“This Crystal is yours, and I guarantee you both live.”
Mao Shi stared at the Crystal at his feet.
He knew exactly what it was worth.
But he knew even better how terrifying the two monsters before him were.
The short-haired woman wiped the blood from her chin, tightened her grip on her triangular military spike, veins bulging on the back of her hand.
“You’ll keep your word?”
Mao Shi’s voice was hoarse as he looked up at Long Ye.
“The Dragon Clan never stoops to lying to ants.”
Long Ye smiled.
Mao Shi lowered his eyes, his right hand behind his back, rapidly flashing a few tactical hand signals.
Meaning: I’ll hold them off. You run deep into the ruins.
The short-haired woman understood.
She didn’t move.
Instead, she gripped the spike even tighter, leaning forward into an attacking stance.
“I’ve scraped by in the wasteland for too long to trust promises.”
Mao Shi spat out a mouthful of bloody saliva.
The muscles in his right arm instantly swelled to their limit, veins standing out like cords.
“Go!”
Mao Shi roared.

He spun around, grabbed the short-haired woman by the shoulder, and hurled her with all his strength toward the depths of the ruined mall.
With the full-force throw of a level-six strength-type Evolved being, she shot off like a black blur.
At the same moment, Mao Shi turned, his fists cutting through the air straight for Long Ye’s face.
He knew he couldn’t win.
He needed to buy three seconds.
Three seconds—enough time for that woman to vanish into the labyrinthine underground pipelines.
Long Ye stood still, the smile on his face slowly fading.
He didn’t even raise a hand.
“Bang!”
Mao Shi’s fist stopped half a meter from Long Ye’s face.
A transparent Spiritual Energy Barrier blocked him.
A powerful recoil surged back through his arm, and the bones in Mao Shi’s right arm let out a sickening crack.
His whole body flew backward, snapping two concrete support pillars before crashing into the rubble.
In midair, the short-haired woman who should have been fleeing had no intention of leaving.
She forcibly twisted her body mid-flight, kicking off a protruding steel rebar with both feet.
Her level-five speed-type Special Ability erupted at full force.
She became a black afterimage, both triangular spikes aimed straight at Long Junshan’s eyes.
Long Junshan didn’t even lift his eyelids.
He extended two withered fingers and precisely caught the tips of the thrusting spikes.
“Crack!”
The steel-forged spikes snapped in two.
Long Junshan casually flicked his hand, and the broken blades flew back, piercing through the short-haired woman’s right shoulder.
She let out a muffled grunt and crashed down beside Mao Shi, blood instantly staining her leather jacket.
“Truly touching.”
Long Ye strolled over, his leather boots crunching on the rubble.
“Covering each other, both trying to leave the path of survival to the other.”
“For such a lowly race as Blue Star, you still harbor this kind of pointless sentiment.”
Long Junshan stood with his hands behind his back, his gaze cold: “Stop wasting time. We need them to talk.”
Long Ye walked up to the two of them, looking down at Mao Shi from above.

“I’ll ask one last time.”
Long Ye raised his right foot, pressing it onto the short-haired woman’s wounded shoulder, applying pressure slowly.
“Where did they go?”
The short-haired woman bit her lip hard, remaining silent.
Mao Shi’s eyes were bloodshot, his left hand gripping Long Ye’s leg with all his might.
“Bastard! If you’ve got guts, come at me!”
Mao Shi roared, his left fist pounding relentlessly against Long Ye’s calf.
A sixth-level’s strength striking the protective spiritual energy of an eighth-level Pureblood didn’t even stir a ripple.
Long Ye pressed down harder with his foot, and the short-haired woman’s shoulder blade emitted a cracking sound of unbearable strain.
“Quite sturdy bones.”
Long Ye chuckled lightly.
“You think just because you won’t talk, I can’t find them?”
“It’s just that this wasteland is too vast, and I can’t be bothered to search through it inch by inch.”
“If you speak up, you’ll suffer less.”
The corners of Mao Shi’s eyes split open, blood streaming into his eyes.
He thought of that great defeat in Jiangcheng, of being driven out of the city like a stray dog.
Wandering alone through the wasteland.
It was this woman who chose to follow him, to journey together through the post-apocalyptic wasteland.
“I don’t know!”
Mao Shi gritted his teeth.
“There hasn’t been a single soul within hundreds of miles these past six months! Where the hell am I supposed to find someone for you!”
Long Ye frowned slightly.
He could tell Mao Shi wasn’t lying.
It seemed the area around the Demon Capital had indeed been thoroughly cleared.
“Since you don’t know, then you’re useless.”
Long Ye moved his foot away.
The moment Mao Shi breathed a sigh of relief, Long Ye’s right hand suddenly shot out, seizing the short-haired woman by the neck and lifting her into the air.
“You may not know, but perhaps others you know do.”
Long Ye looked at Mao Shi.

“Blue Star people are sentimental.”
“If I tear off her limbs one by one, do you think you might suddenly remember something?”
“You wouldn’t dare!”
Mao Shi lunged forward again.
Long Junshan slapped the air from a distance, driving Mao Shi straight into the ground.
Mao Shi’s chest caved in, blood gushing from his mouth as he lost all strength to stand.
The short-haired woman struggled in midair, her hands desperately clawing at Long Ye’s fingers, her face turning purple from suffocation.
She turned her head with difficulty, looking at Mao Shi in the pit.
“Don’t… beg… them…”
She squeezed out a few words between gasps.
Mao Shi lay sprawled in the pool of blood, his fingers digging deep into the soil.
The chasm in strength lay plainly before him.
He didn’t even have the right to protect his own woman.
Long Ye grabbed the short-haired woman’s left arm with his other hand.
“Crack!”
The arm was snapped cleanly, hanging limp and useless.
The short-haired woman convulsed in agony, yet she refused to let out a single scream.
“Stop! I’ll take you to them!”
Mao Shi roared with all his might, his voice hoarse and desperate.
Long Ye paused, looking at him with satisfaction. “Where?”
“West.”
Mao Shi panted heavily, his mind racing.
“A thousand kilometers west, there’s an underground shelter.”
“Tens of thousands of people there, including seventh-level Evolved beings.”
He was stalling.
He had no idea what lay a thousand kilometers west—he only wanted this woman to survive.
Long Ye narrowed his eyes, staring at Mao Shi for a few seconds.
“A thousand kilometers west.”
Long Ye smiled.

That was a place they had already scanned before.
“You’re lying.”
Mao Shi’s heart sank.
“It seems until I tear off one of her arms, your memory won’t recover.”
Long Ye’s hand suddenly tightened.
The short-haired woman closed her eyes.
Mao Shi closed his eyes.
At that very moment, the clouds high above were violently torn apart by something moving at incredible speed.
A sonic boom cloud exploded above the two of them, and a powerful shockwave swept through the entire abandoned shopping mall in an instant.
Long Ye and Long Junshan both looked up simultaneously, their expressions changing drastically.
A force utterly beyond their comprehension was hurtling toward them from the western horizon at dozens of times the speed of sound.
“What is this thing?”
Long Junshan’s murky eyes flew wide open.
Before Long Ye could react, a streak of white light slammed into the ground a hundred meters ahead of them.
“BOOM!”
The earth trembled, soil and debris flying everywhere.
The dust settled.
A woman in a fitted white robe, barefoot with flowing white hair, stood there silently.
She released no Spirit Energy, nor any Bloodline Pressure.
Yet the hand Long Ye had clamped around the short-haired woman’s neck loosened involuntarily.
Because that woman was looking at him.
A pair of deep, dark eyes—so calm they sent a chill straight to the heart.
Lin Fan’s gaze swept over the gravely wounded Mao Shi and the short-haired woman on the ground, finally resting on Long Ye’s face.
“Long Ye.”
Lin Fan spoke, her voice carrying a hint of laziness.
“Instead of waiting in Dragon Emperor Hall to wash yourself clean and die, you came all the way here to bully the weak?”
Long Ye stared hard at that face, his mind forcibly dragged back to that suffocating battle at Border Dragon City.
“It’s you!”
