Skinwalker Belle – Chapter 543 – The Mysterious Woman
Lin Fan’s consciousness was a chaotic mess.
There was no light around her, no sound, no sense of direction.
She felt like she was falling.
Her body slammed into the hard ground.
The impact traveled up her spine and spread through her entire body.
Then, she couldn’t feel anything at all.
…
She didn’t know how long had passed.
Three days?
Three months?
Time had lost all meaning in this darkness.
Her body lay somewhere, surrounded by the sound of many low, guttural growls.
Countless footsteps circled around her but never dared to come close.
Something seemed to be keeping them at bay.
Lin Fan’s consciousness drifted between clarity and haze.
When she was lucid, she could smell a rotting stench.
It was familiar.
The same smell from the early days of the Blue Star post-apocalypse.
No.
Before her brain could process that information, her consciousness sank back into oblivion.
It wasn’t until the sound of an engine woke her up.
The roar of a diesel motor, accompanied by the crunch of tires over gravel.
Very close.
“Brother Ah Hu! Over here! There’s a person on the ground!”
A young man’s voice was loud, carrying far into the distance.
Rapid footsteps approached.
Three or four people.
“Keep your voice down. You want to attract every zombie in the area?”
Another male voice was calmer, but still quick-paced.
“No, come take a look first. This… this is just too unbelievable.”

Someone crouched down beside her.
A rough hand tentatively pressed against the side of her neck, checking for a pulse.
“Alive.”
“Heartbeat’s there, just extremely weak.”
“Brother Ah Hu, come quick!”
Heavier footsteps sounded.
Leather boots crunched over the gravel and stopped near her head.
About two seconds of silence.
“Holy shit.”
Ah Hu crouched down, his breathing close.
“She’s absolutely stunning.”
The young man beside him nodded vigorously.
“I’m twenty-three years old, and all the celebrities and influencers from before the apocalypse combined can’t compare.”
“Look at that hair—white, reaching all the way down to her heels.”
“I’ve never seen anything like it, even on TV.”
Ah Hu didn’t respond.
He stared at Lin Fan’s face for several seconds, his brow furrowing.
“Doesn’t she look a bit like Lei Jie to you?”
“Huh?”
“Don’t you feel it? The facial features, that vibe.”
“Could she be Lei Jie’s long-lost sister?”
The young man tilted his head and looked.
“Actually, yeah, a little… but Lei Jie isn’t this pretty, and her hair isn’t white.”
“Enough chatter. Get her in the car first.”
Ah Hu stood up and waved toward the off-road vehicle.
“Da Zhuang, clear out the back seat.”
“Xiao Liu, grab the medical kit.”
“Wait, Brother Ah Hu.”
The young man lowered his voice. “Don’t you find it strange? These zombies around us.”

Ah Hu paused.
He looked up and scanned the area.
The off-road vehicle was parked on a collapsed road.
In the ruins on both sides, zombies packed the area in a dark mass.
At least a hundred of them.
But not one came close.
The nearest one crouched on a car roof about thirty meters away, neck tucked in, whimpering softly, its body trembling.
“These zombies… are afraid of her?”
Ah Hu was silent for a moment.
“Why worry about that? Let’s take her back first.”
“Send her to Fragrant Hills International and have Doctor Xiao Yao take a look. Notify Lei Jie as well.”
“Survivors you can still find out here these days—there aren’t many left.”
Several people worked together to lift Lin Fan into the back seat.
The young man ran back to the passenger seat, Da Zhuang started the engine.
The off-road vehicle turned around.
The horde of zombies automatically parted to make a path.
Ah Hu saw this in the rearview mirror, the corner of his mouth twitching as he swallowed back the words that were on the tip of his tongue.
“Brother Ah Hu,” the young man glanced back at the unconscious Lin Fan on the rear seat, his tone suddenly turning sly, “you think if Brother Lin Fan ever saw this…”
“Shut up.”
“Heh heh.”
“But speaking of which, how’s Brother Lin Fan been lately?”
“That battle against the Dragon Clan was earth-shattering, but I heard they found him yesterday in the ruins near the portal. Pretty badly hurt.”
Ah Hu pulled a crumpled cigarette from his pocket and lit it.
“Whether it’s bad or not, I don’t know. All I know is since yesterday, Lei Jie hasn’t left his hospital room for even a step.”
“The person on duty said Sun Jing called three times from the Magic Capital asking about his condition. Lei Jie just smashed the communicator.”
“Wait… isn’t Sun Jing Brother Lin Fan’s ally?”
“Ally?”
Ah Hu snorted. “You believe that? Lei Jie doesn’t see it that way.”
“Last time Sun Jing came to Fragrant Hills International to discuss work, she told Lin Fan ‘you’ve lost weight,’ and Lei Jie’s face changed on the spot.”

The young man grinned. “So this is what they call a battlefield of jealousy.”
“Stop reading those trashy books.”
Ah Hu flicked his ash. “That kid Lin Fan really makes people envious.”
“Strong enough to fight the Dragon Clan to a standstill, and surrounded by a bunch of women.”
…
Twenty minutes later.
Fragrant Hills International.
The off-road vehicle stopped at the main entrance.
Four female medical staff were already waiting with a gurney.
Ah Hu jumped out and pulled open the rear door.
“Be careful, don’t touch her hair. It’s too long and could get tangled in the wheels.”
Two medics bent down to lift the person.
The moment their hands touched Lin Fan’s arm, one of them froze.
“This skin… what kind of texture is this?”
The other one touched it too, her expression going blank.
“This… this is too smooth.”
“Alright, alright.”
Ah Hu patted the gurney’s railing. “Get her inside first. Stop groping her here.”
Lin Fan was lifted onto the gurney, her white hair carefully rolled up and draped over her by one of the girls.
As they wheeled her in, everyone they passed in the corridor stopped in their tracks.
They stopped simply because the woman on the gurney was too beautiful.
It was an indescribable beauty that made everyone who saw her unable to look away.
A man carrying a supply crate walked straight into the wall.
His partner beside him grabbed his arm. “What are you doing?”
“Didn’t you see?”
“See what?”
“That person they just wheeled past… is that even human?”
The door to the medical room closed.
Whispers erupted throughout the corridor.

Inside the medical room.
Doctor Xiao Yao put on her gloves and performed a routine examination.
Blood pressure was low.
Heart rate was slow.
Body temperature was two degrees below normal.
Pupil light reflex was sluggish.
“No external wounds, no fractures.”
“Internal bleeding… I can’t hear anything.”
Xiao Yao frowned and moved her stethoscope to another position.
Then another.
Her expression changed.
“What’s wrong?” the nurse beside her asked.
Xiao Yao didn’t answer.
She took off the stethoscope, put it back on, and listened three more times.
“Her internal organs…”
“What about her internal organs?”
Xiao Yao slowly raised her head, looking at the unconscious white-haired woman on the bed.
The door suddenly burst open.
Ah Hu poked half his body in.
“Doctor Xiao Yao, Lei Jie called. She’s asking about the condition of the person we picked up.”
“Should we just have Lei Jie come over?”
Xiao Yao opened her mouth.
“Let her come.”
She looked down at Lin Fan once more.
“This person… their physical structure is completely different from ours.”
At the end of the corridor, hurried footsteps were approaching.
Accompanied by a cold, sharp female voice.
“Which room is the person in?”
