Skinwalker Belle – Chapter 545 – You shall be called Lin Li

The door was pushed open violently.

Lei Li strode in quickly, her gaze passing over Xiao Yao and landing directly on the hospital bed.

Those eyes were looking right at her.

The moment their gazes met, Lei Li froze for a second.

Those eyes were pure black, with starlight swirling within them, yet utterly devoid of emotion.

“You’re awake.”

Lei Li walked to the bedside and lowered her voice.

“Do you remember how you got here?”

The white-haired woman looked at Lei Li but didn’t answer.

Her gaze slowly slid from Lei Li’s face to her shoulders, then to the door behind her, and finally settled back on her own palms.

“I don’t remember.”

The voice was soft and hoarse.

But within it carried a captivating charm.

“Then what’s your name?”

Lei Li pulled a chair over by the bed and sat down, leaning forward with her elbows resting on her knees.

The white-haired woman furrowed her brow.

The gesture was strikingly visible on her face.

She thought hard.

“Lin…”

She looked up at Lei Li.

“Lin Fan.”

The pen in Xiao Yao’s hand dropped to the floor.

Lei Li’s movements paused.

The room fell silent for two seconds.

“What did you say your name was?” Lei Li asked.

“Lin Fan.”

The white-haired woman repeated it.

This time her tone was slightly more certain, but her brow was still furrowed.

As if those two characters weren’t quite right either, yet they were the only clue in her mind.

Lei Li turned to glance at Xiao Yao.

Xiao Yao picked up the pen from the floor, pushed up her glasses, and looked just as bewildered.

“You’re sure?”

Lei Li turned back to ask.

“Those two characters—Lin Fan?”

The white-haired woman nodded, then immediately shook her head.

“Not entirely sure… but when I woke up, those were the only two characters in my head.”

“Anything else?”

“A door.”

The white-haired woman’s gaze shifted.

In those vacant eyes, something else suddenly surfaced.

“There’s a door.”

She looked down at her palm, as if searching for some trace there.

“A very bright door.”

“I have to go back.”

“Back where?”

“Back… home.”

Lei Li was silent for a moment, then leaned back against the chair.

Her gaze lingered on the white-haired woman’s face for a long time before she spoke: “Xiao Yao.”

“I’m here.”

“Let’s talk outside.”

The two stepped into the corridor.

Lei Li leaned against the wall, arms crossed.

“She says her name is Lin Fan,” Xiao Yao spoke first, her voice kept very low.

“That’s too much of a coincidence, isn’t it?”

“Whether it’s coincidence or not, we can’t say for now.”

“Lei Jie, what do you think?”

Xiao Yao moved half a step closer.

“What’s the relationship between this girl and our Lin Fan?”

“Could she be someone he… you know… from before…”

“What are you thinking?”

Lei Li shot her a sideways glare.

“I’m just making a reasonable analysis.”

Xiao Yao shrank her neck slightly.

“Look, the timing lines up too.”

“After that battle with the Dragon Clan, Brother Lin Fan went missing for quite a while.”

“Then he was found and brought back, and he’s been unconscious ever since.”

“Right after that, this woman shows up out of nowhere.”

“What if… she’s someone Lin Fan did something wrong to, you know what I mean.”

“That’s why she lost her memory, but she still remembers the name…”

“Xiao Yao.”

“Hm?”

“You really should read fewer of those trashy books in Ah Hu’s cabinet.”

Xiao Yao let out a dry laugh.

Lei Li tilted her head and glanced toward the direction of the hospital room.

Through the crack in the door, the white-haired woman could still be seen sitting on the bed.

She was looking down at her hair, her fingers twirling through it with a puzzled expression, as if studying why it was so long.

Lei Li withdrew her gaze.

“Whatever her relationship with Lin Fan is, one thing’s for sure.”

“What?”

“She doesn’t mean us any harm.”

Xiao Yao thought for a moment, then nodded.

“True. She hasn’t shown any aggressive behavior since waking up.”

“You could even say… she doesn’t have a shred of wariness.”

“The way she looks at people is pure, completely without guard.”

“Keep watching from your end. Call me the moment anything changes.”

“What about her body…”

“Don’t worry about her body for now.”

Lei Li took a couple of steps back.

“Let her eat something first.”

Xiao Yao hesitated behind her, as if wanting to say something.

“Lei Jie, are you planning to let her stay?”

Lei Li didn’t stop walking.

“The apocalypse is almost over. How could I throw out a girl who doesn’t remember anything?”

Xiao Yao watched her figure disappear through the ward door and let out a quiet sigh.

“Alright then, another one recruited.”

Inside the ward.

When Lei Li pushed the door open, the white-haired woman was staring out the window.

Dawn had already broken.

Morning light filtered through the grimy glass, falling across her and making that white hair shine brilliantly.

“Hungry?”

Lei Li sat back down in the chair.

The white-haired woman turned around and thought for a moment.

“I don’t know.”

“Normal. You were out for four days—it’d be strange if you weren’t hungry.”

“I’ll have someone bring some porridge over in a bit.”

“Are you the one in charge here?”

The white-haired woman tilted her head, looking at her.

“Something like that.”

“What’s your name?”

“Lei Li.”

The white-haired woman studied her seriously for a few seconds, then suddenly reached out and touched Lei Li’s wrist.

The movement was very gentle, as if confirming whether the person before her truly existed.

Lei Li didn’t pull away, but her shoulders visibly tensed.

“The feeling you give off… it makes me feel safe.”

After the white-haired woman said this softly, she withdrew her hand.

Then she lowered her head and went back to playing with her hair.

Lei Li watched her, her throat moving slightly.

She’d killed zombies, she’d killed people—she’d never been afraid of anything.

But just now, her heart had skipped two beats.

“There’s something I need to discuss with you.”

Lei Li cleared her throat.

“Hm?”

“There’s someone here who’s also named Lin Fan.”

The white-haired woman blinked.

“He’s a man.”

Lei Li added, her tone carrying a subtle, hard-to-place nuance.

“If you’re both called Lin Fan, it’ll get confusing when people call out names.”

“How about changing your name, until you remember what you’re actually called?”

The white-haired woman didn’t object, waiting seriously for Lei Li to continue.

Lei Li opened her mouth.

“Your surname is Lin, right? We’ll keep that.”

Her gaze drifted to the side, and the tips of her ears began to flush slightly.

“Let’s call you Lin Li.”

“Lin Li?”

“Yeah.”

Lei Li’s words came out half a beat faster.

“Lin from Lin Fan, Li from Lei Li.”

“Easy to remember, and it rolls off the tongue.”

When she finished, she turned her head toward the window, looking at the ruins outside without saying another word.

The white-haired woman murmured it to herself a few times.

“Lin Li. Lily.”

She looked up and smiled at Lei Li.

It was her first smile since waking up—clean and bright.

Her eyes curved, and the starlight within them seemed to shine a little brighter.

Xiao Yao walked to the doorway carrying a bowl of porridge and nearly dropped the bowl.

“Alright, then we’ll call it that.”

Lin Li’s voice softened.

“Lily.”

Lei Li’s ears went from slightly red to deep crimson.

She stood up and walked out.

As she passed Xiao Yao, she said in a low voice, “Put the porridge down. Don’t disturb her.”

Xiao Yao watched her walk away.

She turned her head to glance at the patient on the bed—the “Lin Li” who was obediently drinking her porridge, her white hair spilling across the floor.

Then she looked back in the direction Lei Li had disappeared.

“…Lin Li.”

Xiao Yao’s mouth twitched.

“Lei Jie, you’re way too blunt.”

“She’s just projecting her wish to have a child with Lin Fan directly onto her, isn’t she?”
